This album is so middle ground for me. There aren't really any songs i love and there aren't really any songs i hate either, everything is good from beginning to end. But i haven't really had that "oh my god" moment yet which i've definitely had for all of her previous albums. I guess the fact that there aren't really any songs i strongly dislike kinda balances that out a bit though.

 

It's a weird one, it's such a call back to her old sound yet such a huge distance from it as well.

The lukewarm reception that the Grants has received confuses me so much like   the moment I heard the lines do you think about heaven I KNEW this was going to be one of her best songs, and it is for me  I just can’t imagine not crying while hearing this live, my eyes literally well up with tears every time I listen to it..seeing people call it her worst single???

maybe i'm crazy but i feel like giving out awards to minorities just to reach a diversity quota is a bad idea but then i haven't heard the album and if she's actually deserving then good luck to her

I’ve been a lana fan since late 2011 or early 2012 and the grants is the first Lana song to make me cry. I absolutely love it

This is pretty much where I'm at as well, I've been trying to sit with this album for a minute now but it just does not have any holding power like her other albums do, for me.

If she got rid of Peppers/Sweet/Fingertips/the interludes from the tracklist it would probably be much more enjoyable to me. Those are almost always skips.

These are not even on my top 3-5 (though I LOVE them) but I think they really make the album what it is, mostly Fingertips and the interludes

That’s a really interesting perspective, because I can definitely see where you’re coming from, but this album is the only one since lust for life that gave me the oh my god moment. I love Norman and chemtrails and even bb but they were more easy listening records for me, or skippable with only a few gems. Ocean Blvd pulled up some real artistry and variety that I’d been missing and made me really think! I love that, it got the gears in my head going
