somber 282 Posted November 2 So, either she's confusing us, and the album will be southern gothic as she stated in two separate interviews, or the southern gothic sound won't be expanded on, and it will still be country. But instead of the generic country sound that she has been influenced by from her friends, it will be darker. I don't mind that latter option, but I would prefer the southern gothic style.

Lanaparadiserey 23,537 Posted November 2 Honestly I think she may have been talking about American flair and too much of that very American aesthetic part of the post. That doesn’t really sound like something she would say because so much of her art has been based on the Americana aesthetic. We know she has talked about Southern Gothic before so I don’t think she is referring to that part.
rhubysyrup 4,501 Posted November 2 I think Past Present Future I See in You is her idea of southern gothic

I agree, I remember reading that part and being confused about it too or maybe she’s talking about the part when it says the music is about being in Oklahoma loool 3 Quote like a dream, you glide on the water and like a star, I shine from the shore

Embach 42,311 Posted November 2 Because there will be a double album where Lasso is Americana (just less country) and there's this second album which will be Southern Gothic, lemme believe my delulu
Pico Ocean Boulevard 41,088 Posted November 2 What if it was only the Minnesota thing bc she didn't went to a Boarding School in Minnesota That way, the Southern Gothic is still on 4 Quote "Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon."

Evergreen 8,363 Posted November 2 I also think it's their wording about the album having too much "American flair" rather than Southern Gothic, because this isn't the only interview where she mentions it.

wipeout 318 Posted November 2 She’s still writing and recording allegedly, so I can see waking up one morning inspired by one thing and the next day feeling like it’s taking a new direction… tbh makes me feel like she’s more relatable lol. But the confusion is almost impressive
Mer 61,734 Posted November 2 Maybe she said “emo country” and the Italians translated it to “southern gothic”. 8 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹
