FredRed 4,814 Posted June 27 I'm not sure if this is real or if it has been posted. I wasn't sure where to put the thread. Anyway if it's real nice acknowledgement from Patti. https://www.tiktok.com/@lily.don/video/7384731330547862816

longtimeman 8,902 Posted June 27 Thanks for posting, Fred. My world's continue to collide! Interestingly, the other artists she covered that show were Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana. As sung by an all time legend, that's not bad company to be in! https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/patti-smith/2024/brighton-dome-brighton-england-2b572c0e.html

The image of Patti Smith singing Summertime Sadness and crying is more than I can process. No disrespect. RIP

The Sun Also Rises 5,510 Posted June 28 This is a HISTORIC moment in music It makes me so happy that two amazing lyricists and singer-songwriters inspired by the Beat Generation appreciate each other's art. This has literally made my day, Patti Smith is one of the most inspirational musicians I can think ... just beyond words Also I love her voice on this song. It adds sometime really special and sad I haven't heard on any other covers 6 Quote The cicadas in the sunset are your guide
Vertimus 9,545 Posted June 29 I’m glad to learn that Patti Smith covered summertime sadness in Ireland. I think we can count another music legend among Lana’s fans. Joan, Bruce, Patti, Courtney, Stevie….Lana has genuine fans and admirers among the legends of folk, classic rock, punk, alternative, and contemporary music.
rocknrollgroupie 4,495 Posted October 3 http://Lana Story courtesy of Patti Smith An anecdote from Patti Smiths show last night at Pappy and Harriet’s; Patti went into an amazing cover of Summertime Sadness, making it her own of course, and when she finished, she told a cute story about meeting LDR after she had performed the song a few times on her European tour. Patti was at a wedding of a mutual friend, sitting in a dressing room, when Lana stuck her head in and said “it’s Lana!” Followed immediately by her sing-saying “Summertime, summertime sadness”, as if she wouldn’t know who she was without that little bit. She went on to say that “Lana was with her boyfriend at the time, Jeremy, who is an alligator tour guide, very nice guy, and they just recently got married themselves so congratulations to them” I was a bit surprised that she mentioned him in such detail, especially with how righteous she typically is, didn’t expect a punk to vouch for a tr*mp supporters character but there it was lol! Anyway, that’s the tea.
