I was just listening to Nectar of the Gods and it so truly stark and beautiful it makes me tear up. Henry sounds really gorgeous and emotional to me so I will be totally thrilled with an album full of songs in this vein. Obviously I'll lose my mind over something more bombastic too if that's the direction it ends up going, but I'm honestly more intrigued by an album of slow somber guitar songs than I am by the Fenway intro. you ate that

Obviously I'll lose my mind over something more bombastic too if that's the direction it ends up going, but I'm honestly more intrigued by an album of slow somber guitar songs than I am by the Fenway intro. I partly agree with that but for me it's about mix / balance. I would love some somber guitar ballads on the album, or a slower part with the said somber guitar songs. But I would also love some songs with more oomph like the Fenway Intro, it doesn't need to be trap or anything but something with more production and oomph. Of course only if it's not too messy and still cohesive in away. For example I think Tulsa Jesus Freak, Dark Just But Just A Game and DTWD bridge had that but worked really well within the COTCC album imo. I also think a song like Wild One would have worked on COTCC as well to give it one more boppish moment. Just an example though but I hope y'all get what I mean. And great taste for listening to Nectar Of The Gods 7 Quote "Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon."

I"m not hating on you, but I'm hoping for the opposite of somber. Hear me out: we already have a stripped-back acoustic masterpiece (Chemtrails). And Blue Banisters wasn't far off. So, we kinda already have an album (or two) full of somber guitar songs such as Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend, Cherry Blossom, Yosemite. And Ultraviolence wasn't exactly a pop record. It was guitar. It was somber. I don't think Lana should repeat herself sonically. And if she does, I hope she rips off Lust for Life (Fenway) rather than the second half of BB. Also, with Die with a Smile, Beyonce, Chappel Roan and other big country-infused guitar songs dominating the industry, a stripped-back album would fall off the radar as soon as it drops. So, I'm hoping The Right Person Will stay is bigger in production, more melodic, and catchy. More American and Ride in spirit than Nectar of the Gods and Living Legend. Somber is the last adjective I want to use to describe this record. I'm ready for some fun!
DCooper 37,834 Posted 5 hours ago @Pico Ocean Boulevard @barttttender I do get what you both mean, and I adore Chemtrails, but I definitely hope this album leans a lot more into classic country. I wouldn't call Chemtrails country at all, but moreso folk adjacent. And Blue Banisters is overall more piano driven, I don't want songs like Cherry Blossom anywhere near this album. I love piano but I really hope she leans heavily into guitar this time around. I want classic country songs of heartbreak and love intertwined, and absolutely some songs with oomph but in a cohesive way. I am expecting a journey through a rotation of doomed romances before the right one comes along and finally stays. I could see the title track being the closer or near the end for sure. I do get wanting fun, but the world is so fucked up that I'm just as down to cry with the music, so long as the style brings something fresh for her, which I think it will.

Vertimus 10,119 Posted 4 hours ago Most romances are doomed, just look at your own experiences, those of your friends and family, plus the ratio of successful romances to those that stop suddenly or break off in time. Look at all the lonely people in the world, and all the lost souls--NYC is full of them. It's hard enough--it was hard enough--in fairly homogeneous societies and cultures, which are disappearing fast, and that much harder in broader cultures. It seems today people everywhere have more differences than commonalities. So Lana's sadcore songs will always hit with a certain wounded or disappointed segment of the population. I'm the kind of person who likes the negative side of life acknowledged, and that is the main thing that initially drew me to Lana--the BTD title track, Summertime Sadness, the "I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy' from Ride, Old Money, Swan Song, 13 Beaches, White Mustang, The Greatest, WFWF, and Suburban House though Lana didn't write it. Over time, I've learned to love the happier Lana songs as well--from American through Violets For Roses and bittersweet songs like Hollywood Bowl. I'd also like to see some legitimately sad or at least 'honest about life' songs on TRPWS that really hit, and I think we will. They're her natural métier. Henry seems to be that sort of a song. 1 hour ago, robster said: jack changed her we aint ever getting rick nowels lana back I also suspect this is true. For me, it was not a change for the better, but I can see how she and others on her team might have found his work overwrought---though I don't.

Somber is the last adjective I want to use to describe this record. I'm ready for some fun! 10000% Lana is a pro at combining different songs in one album, that's why I'd like to hear classic country songs and works with a rich production, mb with Rick Nowels kind of sound. I like that each era of her is unique, so that's why I don't want her to come back to any of her previous projects and use it as a reference for trpws. I'd like to hear smth new, mb smth that we don't actually expect from Lana. Remember A&W, it was an experimental song and it end up being one of the best on ocean boulevard. Also now as she getting big streams, selling out stadiums and having a huge boost from tik tok, I don't think it's time to release a somber album, that only her fans will listen to. I just hope she finally came to the point, where she is sure that her work isn't half-cooked and ready to see the world. And praying for the single release this or next week😌
