Nooo, David Lynch was a unique human being, unbelievable and beautiful stranger,ย is very sad news :(, it's a shame he and Lana didn't work together more directly being such kindred souls. Their art and work from both of them has impacted my life deeply and I can't believe it. May David Lynch rest in peace, he is now in such a dreamlike plane like the ones he loved to explore so much, in a beautiful dream with the ethereal voice of Julee Cruise accompanying him

Rest in peace to my favorite director of all time. David Lynch was a visionary that I'm so grateful I got to experience in my lifetime

I've seen 4 of his movies and there's always an aspect of them I really hate and it ruins the film for me, but nonetheless I wish there were more directors willing to start making more complex pieces of work like him. I also would have loved for him and Lana to work on something together... Even though I didn't love his work this is a loss but I'm appreciative of all the amazing work he has inspired <3

Not only he was a brilliant filmmaker, he was also amazing musician. Earlier today I listened to his collaboration with Lykke Li and this song has been one of my favorite songs for five years now. His signatureย beautiful melancholic dreamy vibe hadย inspired many musicians, like Lana.

David Lynch, the writer-filmmaker whose works include Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has died aged 78.

ย

Lynch's death was announced on his Facebook page by his family.

ย

"There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us," the post said.

ย

"But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' โ€ฆ It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."

RIP to the one of the greatest filmmakers of all times.

ย

Huge, huuuge loss for the film world and cinephiles everywhere.
ย

Mulholland Drive left such a massive impression on me growing up. It had never occurred to me that a film can be conjured up as a Rubik's Cube of sorts. Also loved so many of his other films, even the short ones. A singular talent that will be considered as one of the American greats, and rightfully so. RIP

ย

p.s. thank you for bringing this up.

I'll never be able to express how much David Lynch means to me, so I'll just say that he was one of the artists who the world instantly becomes worse with his passing. He truly loved movies and loved the people who saw them. My favourite thing about him is that he would make 'difficult' films, but be sure that people understood them more than they allowed themselves to accept. So watch Mulholland Dr twice - it's not about the twist; it's about the journey, like all of life.

I have posted this clip so many times already, but it sums his artistic world up.

like others have said I went into Mulholland Dr. completely blind having no prior exposure to his work in September ofย 2022 and it literally changed my life forever. dramatic af but I had never had a movie fully stop me in my tracks to that extent where I knew I had just seen somethingย bigย and started making my way through his workย :wubna:ย it feel so expansive thinking about all the artists both visually and musically that have cited him as a direct source of inspiration or where its so obvious they're a fan cause you can just tell with Lynch fansย :blush3:ย who else has a descripitive term like Lynchian named after them!! this is all so unexpected when his team came out a few months ago and said he wasn't healthy but still doing goodย :(ย its hard to wrap my head around a loss like this but it's one the culture is definitely going to feel it I was holding out hope he had one final offering up his sleeve but honestly The Return is such an incredible and obvious endcap for his career in the way its so self-referential and ends off the epic that is Twin Peaksย :trisha:ย god im really gonna miss him being aroundย
