I'm italian and I'm almost sure that what she's singing in the chorus is "calciatore" (football player) and not "cacciatore" (hunter)

I could be wrong, but I think some of you native Italian speakers may be giving Lana too much credit with her pronunciation and knowledge of Italian. Ciao, amore, chicken cacciatore. These are like the next three most basic Italian words Americans know after pizza and spaghetti (which I'm almost surprised she didn't mention). Honestly, even though it sounds beautiful, these lyrics are really clumsy.

A-a-a-a-a-propriazione...

Help sisters!! I corrected some things from @@ILostMyself 's and @@AngelHeadedHipster but there's still some ??? because if it's hard to understand ha English imagine her Italian...

All the lights in Miami begin to gloom

ruby blue and green, neon too

Everything looks better from above, my king,

like aquamarine, ocean's blue

(Ahahaha) Cacciatore

(Ladadada) Limousines

(Ahahaha) Ciao Amore

(Ladadada) soft ice cream

All the lights are sparkling for you, it seems,

on the downtown scenes, baby/city? blue

Beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain

like a boss he sang jazz and blues

(Ahahaha) Cacciatore

(Ladadada) Limousines

(Ahahaha) Ciao Amore

(Ladadada) soft ice cream

The summer's warm and I've been

waiting for you all this time

and I adore you - can't you

see you're meant for me

The summer's hot and I've been

cold without you

I was wrong not to try/tell

a ????

Tangerine dreams

Catch me if you can,

working on my tan,

Salvatore.

Dying by the hand

of a foreign man

I believe / happily ??

Calling out my name

in the summer rain

Ciao Amore

Salvatore can wait

Now it's time to eat

soft ice cream

(Ahahaha) Cacciatore

(Ahahaha) Limousines

(Ahahaha) Ciao Amore

(Ahahaha) soft ice cream

Ahaha, my broken New York Italian dialect agrees.

Salvatore

[Verse 1]

All the lights in Miami begin to gleam

Ruby, blue and green, neon too

Everything looks better from above my king

Like aqua marine, ocean’s blue

[Chorus]

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Cacciatore

La-da-da-da-da

La-da-da-da-da

Limousines

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ciao amore

La-da-da-da-da

La-da-da-da-da

Soft ice cream

[Verse 2]

All the lights are sparkling for you it seems

On the downtown scenes, shady blue

Beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain

Like a boss, he sang Jazz and Blues

[Chorus]

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Cacciatore

La-da-da-da-da

La-da-da-da-da

Ciao amore

La-da-da-da-da

La-da-da-da-da

Soft ice cream

[Verse 3]

The summer's hot

And I've been waiting for you all this time

I adore you, can't you see, you're meant for me?

Summer's hot but I've been cold without you

I was so wrong not to tell, I'm in regine, tangerine dreams

[bridge]

Catch me if you can

Working on my tan

Salvatore

Dying by the hand

Of a foreign man

Happily

Calling out my name

In the summer rain

Ciao amore

Salvatore can wait

Now it's time to eat

Soft ice cream

[Chorus]

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Cacciatore

La-da-da-da-da

La-da-da-da-da

I hear "shady blue" instead of "baby/city blue".

Also I'm pretty sure she says "soft ice creams", plural, in the chorus. :)

I do hear that too but she sounded like that in other parts of the songs randomly and I assumed it was because of her lips or idk

It's "all the lights in Miami begin to gleam"

Yeah, I hear "gleam" too now!

- And I am 100% sure now it's happily as there is no "v"-sound when she sings it. She sings it weird tho haha

Now you've pointed it out I totally hear shady blue actually!

It's so weird how that works haha

i have another suggestion for improvement... How about we actually introduce her favorite color into the lyrics as she mentions it so obsessively? (Also, just noticed, there's a lot of summers and summer rains...)

All the lights in Miami begin to gleam,
ruby, blue and green, neon too
Everything looks better from above, my king,
like aquamarine, ocean's blue

All the lights are sparkling for you, it seems,
on the downtown scenes, shady blue
Beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain
like a boss he sang jazz and blues

:sadcore:

The lyrics are both nice and terrible :toofunny:

The bridge is really pretty + 'dying by the hand of a foreign man' is now one of my favourite lines ever :oprah:

BUT

Beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain
Like a boss, he sang Jazz and Blues

This is honestly so bad :deadbanana:

I'm really blown away by how sultry this album is and uh, being French, the line "dying by the hand of a foreign man happily" reminds me of the expression "la petite mort" which means "the small death" and stands for "orgasm". So, maybe far-fetch and I'm sorry to have to be the one bringing this up haha but this is how I feel now with this in mind: it's the story of a girl that craves for a man because she can't have it, for his fame, for his exoticism, then when she finally have it in the bridge, she simply passes to other priorities, she's playing with him. I love this so much because for once she's not the one being played, she's in control and having the fun of her life.

I really think it's my favourite of the record wow

Yeah, this line made me think of "the little death" too. I think this lyric is intentional double entendre for, um, manual stimulation. Or in the parlance of this forum, he slayed her pussy. ;)

"Soft ice cream" may be innuendo as well.

Fun fact: Lizzy's 2008 Mercury Lounge performance was as an opener for Moby's side project The Little Death, and is the basis for her claim to have shared the stage with Moby. The drummer for The Little Death was also her drummer in Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena.
