I'm feeling so excited because of the "skating, long haired guitarist and pianist, lots of young adults - cute twinks too!". If the song doesn't slay me, then the music video will.

The problem is not the slowness of the songs. It's sometimes the production, sometimes the editing/mixing and sometimes the lyrics. Rarely the bpm. Even though Terrence Loves You is slow, she managed to make it enjoyable by avoiding a repetitive chorus. Can you imagine if it was like "Terrence loves you, ooh" over and over again? Unbearable. A few edits would have made the song Honeymoon 5/5, it has great potential that I'm so sad it was wasted. If she cut the choruses into one repeat per line (Our honeymoon, say you want me too, dark blue) and if the studio version had some exciting production with guitars like the BBC live performance (I love you Blake), it'd easily be one of her best. Shame.

She wants everything to be ready once things start rolling. She's not the type of artist to pick singles and make videos as she goes along so believe me, she's planning everything right now. Dates are picked, multiple videos have been shot, singles are picked. The video for the lead single is quite high budget (yes it's featuring skating, long haired guitarist and pianist, lots of young adults - cute twinks too!) and she wants to add more special effects (though it's already amazing in my opinion, I don't want to spoil it at all). So be patient and allow her to do her thing.

You know far more than any other fanbase would know before a new era begins.

All those people saying that only snoozy slow songs can be mature remind me so much of these people preaching how the beatles were the greatest thing that happened to music, ever.

Sia is like 10 years older than Lana so i guess she has to be terribly immature for her age

To say she was taking risks and going outside her comfort zone with Honeymoon... She found her niche with that album, and from what we know about the next record, she's staying in that style. Rick is capable of producing other genres / different types of songs, but Lana has control over him. And that's amazing actually, but at the same time he's basically... just there. I'm sure he still fears her ass after the whole Black Beauty fiasco.

I mean, the music is still good. And it's amazing she's doing her thing. But even deep down she knows most fans just like it because it's Lana and that's why she tries to please them playing the same Born to Die songs live every single time.

I agree! She should have played more songs from that album.
If you're implying that she apparently wasn't proud because of that, I disagree.

Exactly. Your music being dynamic and even with a faster pace in some songs doesn't equal "bops" teenagers love to shake their asses to.
Tori with the album you mentioned used to be a good example of that. Kate Bush used to be one back in the day, PJ Harvey, Björk, etc.

It has nothing to do with maturity.

this idea that "mature" music has to be a slow-paced snoozefest is ridiculous. go listen to "from the choirgirl hotel" by tori amos who was 35 when it was released. it's a mature album but it's not boring and one-note. go figure!

i would never expect lana to make music that i could shake my ass at in the club or even want that. but she's afraid to go outside of her comfort zone and we all know it. it would be nice for her to push some boundaries again or at least make an album that has some variety in it. she's capable of it.

This myth that all her fans are young is so weird. Everyone i know who likes her is over 35, she has a huge older fanbase, my concert was mostly adults with a big group of young fans at the front screaming and crying. The rest of us were composed adults watching her like normal.

There are many people involved in recording a song. Producers, sound engineers etc.
There must be only one mole and stuff gets to the outside. Considering Eclipse has tracks mainly produced by Rick Nowels, it isn't too farfetched to say that someone associated with him gives the tracks to Eclipse

As long as there are no political songs I don't care what direction she goes in.

Yes. Be political all you want in your own life, but I listen to music to escape from the everyday HELL that is this world. I love Lana's tales of lost souls in California.

HM is my favorite album so far. You can just put it on, dim the lights, grab some bourbon (or your drink of choice), get comfortable and have it take you away.

Omg I never even knew you have your own thread here and all?! I've always been thinking you're MY thing among other Lana fans and you're my lil secret since I'm a hardcore fan of your remixes and edits and my people aren't nearly as obsessed with them as I am
Anyways, Merry Christmas baby, your works are genius!
Got CYB's notification and have it on loop for the last 15 minutes mixed with Yes to Heaven, never could've asked for a better Christmas gift

    I love you so much!

MTWBT/Sad Girl is the strongest one imo
When MTWBT showed up I couldn't listen to Sad Girl without starting singing it with "Pink flamingos..."
The first time I did this accidentally in the bathroom was the time I flipped the fuck out
    I was so suprised

"Hey stranger" verse from Strange Love reminds me of "I need you, I need your love" from YCBTB sonically
  20. SissyReed liked a post in a topic by kitschesque in How has Lana influenced your life?
My 15 year old ass back in 2012 was very insecure, afraid of commitment, afraid of my own desires and showing myself to other people in general - I used to feel like I can't fit in. Lana came into my life and changed the whole perspective for loneliness, attitude towards my own character and qualities and completely reshaped my relationship with myself.

Thanks to her I accepted everything I learned and just went with it. Some may say she was just a spark to the whole thing because we may not resemble that much, but I just know that's all thanks to her.

Not to mention me coming across inspiring people who also share the love for her also was the resolution. I met so many babes and fell for so many people who mean so much. Sometimes I wonder how have I been doing all my life with all the casuals around me

Then there's the fact she introduced all of us to many forms of art, no doubt.

If someone told me to download Lana Del Rey's lead single "Born 2 Die" off her new album Do U Luv Me Yet?, I would have told them to fuck off.

Post whatever you find about Lana/Lizzy/Lizzi/Lizzie/May on the internet here or just random tidbits people have told you about Lana that you do not have sources for here.

Basically a good way to do it is to search one of her many names and change the year range via google. If you are looking to talk about things that you believe are true/theorize about Lana's life/inspirations/lyrics, see *LANANALYSIS* ..this is just a place to talk about stuff that has been found online/ information that may be true, may not be, who knows.

    Some Interesting Articles:

Affirms that she recorded something with "The Knocks" http://pressrepublic...rst-album/print
The original title of LDRakaLG was "God Bless America", talks about Lizzy singing in church choir http://www.huffingto...e_b_159346.html
Talks about her influences and kissing a handsome record exec (presumably Van) http://www.gq.com/en...iew-video-games
Not an old interview really, but it's one of my favorites. She seems to share more with GQ Randomly saw this picture of a guy named "Ray" next to Lizzy.. probably just a coincidence but interesting nonetheless!

I think this is the most anticipated part of all the lyrics in all her songs for me

    It's so perfect.

He said, “Lana Ray, will you serve me lemonade”

and I said, “Yes, Bill, I will, it’s the day of the parade

And you look even more handsome than you did the day that I left you

How do you spend your nights, honey, still watching TV

I long to be in your arms honey, come back to me please”

That Angelic, Heart Breaking Voice in "Lucky Ones"
"Feels Like, Feels Like, You know it Feels Like Falling In Love For The First Time . That high, angelic voice when she sings it just runs to my eyes and liberates a soothing tear that goes down my face.
