?? the nfr version says “we were so obsessed with writing tnbar” - but the music vid was definitely meant for the “YOU were so obsessed” version - lanz is literally seen trying to get her mans attention in the production booth while he ignores her, then there’s scenes of him basking in the fame bc HE did it all for the fame (a lyric that is not in the nfr version)
why does it matter if she didn’t work w rick after that? she could’ve rewritten it by herself, she’s more than capable of changing a few words. (also rick is the only other one mentioned in the songwriting credits, there are 4 producers on the song)
it was deffo changed, good try tho bestie!

Rank, rate, whatever, but comment on each track, i'm sure most of us here have heard the new album a good 5-10 times by now.......
Ride - 5/5
I liked it when i initially heard it, but after having it all this time i have really fallen in love with it and think it's one of her best songs. So gorgeous.
American - 5/5
I love it, i have the same feelings about this that i do about Ride. Everyone seems to love it to, i wouldn't be surprised if it's the next single.
Cola - 5/5
My favourite song on the album. The build up to the finale is amazing. I think live this could be really great, Lana's beehive hair might explode trying dem notes though.
Body Electric - 4/5
A little LESS creepy than the live version, but still dark and sexy. I was hoping for them Satanic "wooooo ooooh ahhhh" ad libs at the end like when she does it live, but that's ok. Cool song.
Blue Velvet - 4/5
It's nice, but i do need to be in the mood for it. The short running time works i think, it gives you just enough, any longer and it may have felt a little boring.
Gods and Monsters - 3.5/5
I want to love it, i really do, but i just don't. I do like it though, but it's missing something, maybe it's the utterly flat chorus, but i just feel like the track goes nowhere. It just stays the same the whole time and then just....ends. Anyway, it's still got a nice beat though and i like the "feel" of the song. Maybe it will grow more on me over time.
Yayo - 4/5
I prefer the Nevada version, but this is still nice. Considering everyone acted like it was the end of the world when the snippet for this new version came out, i'm happy to say that i don't think it's anywhere near as AWFUL as fans make it out to be. It works for this album, i'll just leave it at that.
Bel Air - 5/5
So dreamy and cinematic, i think it would make a nice final single to this whole BTD 2 year era. The vocal is beautiful.
Burning Desire - 4/5
I still think it should have been on the actual disc, but at least it's being kept as an iTunes bonus, so many people will still hear it. Very simple little track, but i do really love it. 1, 2, 3 lyrics......but the production is cool.

I finally edited the [Best American Record] Lust for Life tracklist to where I'm happy to actually listen to it
Best American Record 13 Beaches Cherry Summer Bummer [solo] White Mustang Lust For Life Groupie Love [solo] Tomorrow Never Came Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind God Bless America Beautiful People Heroin Yosemite Get Free Young And In Love I can't even tell if i changed that much lol but I really enjoy this version, it feels like more of a sequel to honeymoon. (I originally had Cherry Blossom after Yosemite but apparently it was recorded in 2013 [???] so I figured it wasn't a fit.)

You & Me is definitely underrated. The intro instantly brings me back to myself in 2012/13, in which time it took me to a whole different space. Such a beautiful time in life even though I was more or less a baby living in a mess, I guess that's just youth.
I will never not love the paradise-ultraviolence era outtake songs, from the black beauty demo to angels forever, drive, young and beautiful, and the rest of the rick nowels tracks.

Good point! It's clearly the standout of honeymoon to me, now, but I actually remember when the album first came out thinking the intro was clunky, the production awkward, and the song overall weak. How things changed lol. TBD and TLY are absolutely the best tracks from Honeymoon. Ranking the rest is a matter of taste

I like it! Bc she's comparing her body to LA's geography, and her lover to a car that explores her
They also sound really good. The alliteration of t and o sounds in "Trace your hands over me like a Toyota", and of r and o sounds in "Run your hands over me like a Land Rover", and the repetition of "over" across the two lines (then "land rOVER") ahhhhhhhh

My body is a map of LA
I stand straight like an angel
With a halo
Hanging out the Hilton hotel window screaming
"Hey, baby, let's go"
My chest, the Sierra Madre
My hips every high and byway
That you trace with your fingertips like a Toyota
Run your hands over me like a Land Rover
In Arcadia
Arcadia
All roads that lead to you as integral to me as arteries
That pump the blood that flows straight to the heart of me
America
America
I can’t sleep at home tonight, send me a Hilton Hotel
Oh, across on the hill, I’m a lost little girl, finding my way to you
Arcadia
My body is a map of LA
and my heart is like paper, I hate you
I’m not from the Land of the Palm
So I know I can’t stay here, I’m not native, but
My curves, San Gabriel, all day
My lips like the fire licks the bay
If you think that you know yourself
You can come over
Lay your hands on me like you're a Land Rover
In Arcadia
Arcadia
All roads that lead to you as integral to me as arteries
That get the blood flowing straight to the heart of me
America
I need a miracle
I can’t sleep at home tonight, send me a Hilton Hotel
Oh, across on the hill, I’m a lost little girl, finding my way to you
Arcadia
They built me up three hundred feet tall
Just to tear me down
So I’m leaving with nothing but laughter in this town
Arcadia
Finding my way to you
I’m leaving them as I was, five foot eight
Western belle plus the hate that they gave
By the way, thanks for that
On the way I’ll pray for you
But you’ll need a miracle
America

Considering she just wrote a song about him on NFR (the weather changing and Flipside references were a dead giveaway imo if London wasn't already), I wouldn't be surprised if they still talk occasionally. Before NFR was released, I personally think they have hooked up again at some point when they were both available to do so - maybe many times throughout the years. I think she had recent leftover feelings for him and possibly for each other in some way, but that's just my speculation.

The music exec was Steven Mertens. Idk about "seven years" though. It's Lana. Sis doesn't know her own timeline at all too so I would take that with a grain of salt

"Forget Her"
Her love is a rose, pale and dying.
Dropping her petals in land unknown
All full of wine, the world before her, was sober with no place to go.
Don't fool yourself, she was heartache from the moment that you met her.
My heart is frozen still as I try to find the will to forget her, somehow.
She's somewhere out there now.
Well my tears falling down as I try to forget,
Her love was a joke from the day that we met.
All of the words, all of her men,
All of my pain when I think back to when.
Remember her hair as it shone in the sun,
The smell of the bed when I knew what she'd done.
Tell yourself over and over you won't ever need her again.
