I'm so excited for this but hate when albums are announced so early with no release date in sight *cough* Lana *cough*
Although I know she has no control over when these articles come out so I'm glad she announced it first.

Wow I'm actually surprisingly excited even though the album title is a mess. You know I'm all about synths and Visions but I'm very interested in seeing how this album will turn out. This announcement had me listening to WAP on repeat as I walked to work this morning, I should listen to it more.

So buzzed for this album, i love the concept she's going for. I just know it's gonna be a heavy, killer masterpiece. I hope its something like art angels but a lot darker and psychadelic. Im interested to hear the lyrics on this album too, WAP was genius

Grimes has announced via Instagram her next album will be titled Miss_Anthrop0cene! She described it as being of an ethereal & nu metal sound. She also said it’s possible she’ll continue to drop more singles and maybe even an EP of synth-based tracks before the album. In the comments section, she hinted that Loona & Rico Nasty may be featured on the album.

Here’s the full note from her Instagram post:

    “New Album: Grimes - Miss_Anthrop0cene
    1. mis·an·thrope
    noun:
a person who dislikes humankind and avoids human society.
    2. Anthropocene: The Anthropocene is a proposed epoch dating from the commencement of significant human impact on the Earth’s Geology and ecosystems including, but not limited to, anthropogenic climate change. ————————————
Just fount out my first interview in a few years is coming out tomorrow. I thought the writer was quite smart so hopefully it’s accurate haha. But just in case (cuz I’ve had some p fucked press drama this year) I’m announcing album here first: ———————————-It’s called Miss_Anthropocene. It’s a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world. She’s composed of Ivory and Oil (I’ve done some illustrations of her if you scroll down my instagram). ———————————-‍♀
I love Godly personifications of abstract/ horrific concepts (For example, Mars as the Roman God of War) — so I wanted to update the list to include our modern issues. ———————————-
Each song will be a different embodiment of human extinction as depicted through a Pop star Demonology. The first song ‘we appreciate power’, introduced the pro-AI-propaganda girl group who embody our potential enslavement/destruction at the hands of Artificial General intelligence. ———————————-
It’s possible I will drop an EP or a few more singles of synth-based stuff b4 the album because its mostly ethereal nu metal (ish), and I know a lot of ppl miss the synths and whatnot. ———————————- Climate change is something I’m only ever confronted with in a sad/ guilty way…. Reading news and what not… so my goal is to make climate change fun (lol..??)…. uhhh… (I mean, everybody loves a good villain... re: the joker, Queen Beryl).. so maybe it’ll be a bit easier to look at if it can exist as a character and not just abstract doom. ———————————-☢☣
    More musique soon!

Also I feel like we’re going to get the EP or at least those three songs all at once

i want to believe her so bad but the fact that march is over in less than 2 weeks and she hasn't announced a date is a bit...
  9. poetic jess liked a post in a topic by World Princess in Sky Ferreira
I can't believe I'm believing her this time

What haunts me the most is that she actually said "Official" this time like all the other "Marchs" weren't.

But oh well looks like she's coming through this time

I actually believe her this time I’m scared. Please don’t be a random soundcloud demo just please have an actually single cover and actual be fully produced and actually be pointing to a sooncoming release.

Honestly I actually really like it!! It reminds me of a happier Blue (although I have no idea why!). I think it's really quirky in a brilliant way, and I think it may be one of those songs that you don't know how to take it when it comes out, but it grows on you over time!

What is the bitch done now (face palm). Honestly She’s cancelled. She’s saying shit like this on a 10 year old profile because she doesn’t have the guts to tell us on her main accounts. “Oh I love you all still but who the fuck knows when the album is coming mahahajhaha!”

The way she communicates with her fans it’s like she’s in a cult or religious sect and can’t communicate with the outside world so has to sneak messages on random insta posts and secret accounts. It’s so deranged omg.

Random but I can't get over how Ashley kept saying shit like "dope" or "nice" while Byron literally quotes the same setlist we've had for 5 years
    I-

Wonder what happened tho, her connection with Interscope always been amazing as she stated that in her interviews several times; how they let her release anything she wants and make an album once a year. Even with releasing MAC/VB/Hope as “fan singles,” it was so random and they still agreed to that. I even remember reading an article about how’s amazing her contract with Interscope is and how Madonna achieved a similar contract with her label after YEARS of her career. Maybe she just fucks with us and they’re just waiting for a right moment to release the lead single.

If the release is out of Lana's control, then fair enough. But I genuinely believe the album cover itself is done, so she could at least post it since the record is finished too.

Even if it is out of her hands, she could at lest have the decency to tell us that

Why do I literally feel like we're at war with the music industry and interscope during this era

Team Norman: LanaBoards, Lana Subreddit, Lana, Jack, her band (probably)

Team #1 Album: Interscope, polydor, UMG, Ben, Ed

I fell asleep early and missed everything, omg.

I want to have faith that it’s a surprise release, but I also learned not to be naive from her past release cycles. Tbh, a bitch is still going to be refreshing iTunes every Friday at midnight.

I just know she’ll be silent about the release during the show Friday and there will be meltdowns everywhere.

Her pre-release has been great! Some of the fans aren't warming up to the new music, and I get it. Still, personally I've been loving the new songs. I'm surprised Marina's work ethic didn't rub off on her, since they both hung out a lot while they were both working on their albums.

It was a cute treat during the Endless Summer tour (same with Us Against the World and You Can Be the Boss I'm still aching to hear YCBTB live   ). It made me regret not going. When I went to see her during the LATTM tour, I was a bit happy I got to hear Serial Killer, but tbh I wouldn't have minded a Honeymoon song or a different unreleased song. I really was hoping for Paradise (don't get why she used it for soundcheck and only performed it at ONE show).

This girl is being ridiculous. How does she not KNOW?!    Is this our "july 21st fam" tweet for this era or is the announcement going to be more obscure/lazy?

Oh, also wanted to mention this in another thread, but totally forgot- kinda had the feeling she'd bring her new LA friend group to her upcoming shows. Not only do I feel unsure about them - not like Lana cares what we think - but I kinda get the impression that they'll mock/bitch at some of the fans who get over-emotional when they meet Lana. Or they seem like the type to get bitchy if you accidentally get pushed into them in a crowd trying to meet Lana even though it was just an accident. I've seen it with Kali Uchis when she had her friends down in the barricade area when she performed before Lana. They snapped at some fans in the middle of Kali's performance and waved (for wut?) at people when they were walking with Kali outside the venue and the fans were screaming for Kali. A bit weird and rude.    Idk if these LA IG influencers - whoever they are - are using Lana or not, but I wouldn't be shocked. Idc if we're just coworkers or w/e, but if I was in Lana's position, I'd have my band mates fly with me to most of my shows. I think after working with the same people for over a decade, I'd consider them family.

I haven't read the past 2400+ comments, but I just wanna drop by because I'm frustrated. I don't get what she's waiting for, what's holding her back? It's ridiculous if she's not releasing finished and completed music because she wants to drop the poems first. The longer she waits, the older the songs feel like - it's been about a whole year since she first teased HIAB now! I can almost guess what it's going to sound now with all the teasers she's given us, same with Cinnamon. We've had patience for a long time now and I honestly feel it fade away day by day. I don't doubt the album will be amazing but I... sigh. I fear that the day I'll finally hold it in my hands, I won't be so excited about it anymore.
Other fans and her managers might say we're ungrateful, but I'm not. I just want to know what's going on. I'm glad she's having a good time, hanging out with friends and trying to live healthier, creating songs as usual, but when we've been promised an album that was supposed to come in early 2019 and we still don't know anything except that the release date is non-existent and that the album is done (confirmed for the second time..!), I think we have the right to know what's going on. Is everything done? Is anything missing? Photoshoots? Interviews? Video music recordings? Mastering of songs? What makes Lana and the people involved in this project wait to release the songs?

I just hope she'll say something at BUKU, but I don't expect her to...
