    Hi all,

First off, I'd like to apologise for being a little MIA recently. Had a lot of stuff going on in my personal life I needed to take care of, but now I'm back and ready to put all my focus back into the site.

That being said, I am ready to make some updates to the site. But of course, I do all of this for you guys. A lot of time and money goes into LanaBoards, but I'm willing to do it all because I adore this community so much. It's become family to me. So that being said, I want all of your opinions on what I should do.

I'm preparing a new theme for you all to hopefully roll out before March. I was going to wait until we had some proper photoshoots for NFR, but it seems that's going to be awhile, so I'm going to create a little in-between theme with the current site layout until we get more era-related content. Then, when more NFR stuff rolls out, I'll re-update. So let's talk about this.

When NFR comes and another update will follow, would you prefer I just make another theme or would you like to see a whole site update? I asked this question a few weeks ago, and the majority of the users said they'd prefer to keep the site the way it is, just with an updated theme. But I'd like to revisit this question. If I were to do a site update, the website would look similar to DiamondGarden.net, as LanaBoards uses the same forum platform as they do, and that is what an updated version would look like. Tell me your thoughts.

Another thought that's been brought up is an updated mobile site or even an app. This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile, but this will take a lot of time and money, especially if I were to do an app. I've heard users say they would even donate to a kickstarter type situation for an app (I also take donations and still actively do. There are large monthly and quarterly fees to keep LanaBoards up and running, and I pay these with the Adsense & donations, and sometimes out of pocket if my revenue isn't enough to cover it)
Thoughts on this? Would you all be willing to donate if I were to roll out an app? An updated mobile site would probably cost less if nothing at all to produce, but would take lots of time.

Please tell me all your thoughts. What I should do in terms of updates, mobile options, new features, and any other things you'd like to add. Again, I'm making these changes on your terms! I always strive to have this little hub to be as enjoyable for everyone as possible, so I'd like to create something that would satisfy as much of you as possible.

I'm sending you all so much love. Everything I do is all for you. I'm so thankful to have found this community many years ago and now run this site for us all. It's the greatest gift I could ever ask for. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on upcoming changes for the site, and then watch them fruition. Here's to a wonderful 2019 for everyone on LanaBoards.

I'm really excited for how this album is shaping up ~sonically~ it's so removed from the heavy electro beats and synths of LFL to more organic, acoustic sounds and instruments.

There is no way the 'black narcissist' line is about another person, it makes zero sense in the context of the line or the song as a whole.
What a beautiful, heart-wrenching song. A lot of it seems inspired by the Beat poets, the kind of accumulation of images from Ginsberg's stuff. So great.

Listened to it quite a few times now and some parts of it really feel like a continuation or evolution of the Beautiful People Demo to me. I mean meaning and lyrically. It just makes me think of it for some reason.

So weird, some of yall just seem to WANT it to be about Azealia/Kanye. Like do y’all want Lana to be slammed on Twitter and the media?

Her managers might be dumb, but they’re not stupid. They would never allow Lana to release a song that referred to someone as black referencing their skin tone, especially not in 2019. If she was going to shade Azealia or Kanye then it woulld be done tastefully, at least.

How would shaking her ass get Azealia off her back

Hm, I wonder if she wrote “don’t ask if I’m happy - you know that I’m not” because all the journalists kept asking her in every single interview if she was happy when they saw her smiling on the LFL cover art.

She is clearly referring to depression and not taking a random dig at either of those two people in an insanely personal and raw song.

Take Me To Church (Demo): https://picosong.com/wj4E2/

Interesting things from the podcast Phil Taggart's Slacker Podcast: link can be found on the previous page
The demo sounds very similar to the final version, and he admitted that he very rarely listens to the actual track (Take Me To Church). Demo is from late 2013-early 2014, recorded in his parent's attic in case you didn't know that already after he dropped out of university (Trinity College, Dublin). At 14-15 he joined his first band and realized that he had a great voice but a lousy guitarist. Band was called Blue Zoots, they covered soul songs and his brother was in the band as the drummer. The other band members were around 18 years old, so Hozier was the youngest. They played in various youth halls. Soul and Delta (blues) music inspired him a lot when he was younger Once Take Me To Church was finished, he felt pride and happy over it but never thought that it would become such a hit, even though he and Rob (his producer) joked that it would be hit on alternative radio stations He put TMTC and two other demos and uploaded them to Soundcloud after he had worked on some old demos after college After the hit, he had to finish the album (his debut album) while promoting it overseas, sometimes only stopping at home/Dublin for one-two weeks and going into the studio at once About Nina Cried Power: he worried for backlash if he decided to put the song out, but he did it anyway when he was happy with what he wanted to say with the song. He discussed with the interviewer about how similar things is still going on today and brushed on the subject of the Black Lives Matter movement. After touring: his dived into news and realized that hearing/reading all the bad things constantly affected him in a way, and it influenced the tone of the upcoming album About the upcoming album: "There is a 'doom and gloom' there, but I say that with a very tounge-in-cheek way, it looks like 'doom and gloom' in a sorta way but with a rye eye. I was defenitely drawing from the kind of, like, the rederick of fire and brimstone, two nuclear powers... just a pissing contest of global politics that has been going on in the last years. It's just ridiculous shit. So, it's kinda drawing from that and looking at that sort of doom and gloom from different-, sometimes it's very helpful, sometimes it's quite funny and sometimes it's kind of just... sad. [...] The album (is coming out) early next year." About Movement and Polunin, the ballet dancer in the video for it: seeing the video where Polunin danced to TMTC, it made Hozier want to write a song about movement and referenced him in the lyrics and asked if he would dance for the music video for Movement for him. Favorite poem: Mint by Seamus Heaney (he even recited it ♥) Swimming pool in the cover arts: belonged to a friend of Hozier's About Nina Cried Power (again): the album version might have more verses and names mentioned in the lyrics than the EP version

She's playing it way too safe alright, both live and in studio. Remember the girl who once screamed her lungs out while covering Heart-Shaped Box on Paradise tour? Well she's been replaced by someone who these days does some minor choreo and barely performs with any major energy, the OTTR performances are a perfect example of this. I know it can be a tough one to sing but even with Cherry she tends to deliver mediocre vocals - at least based on the videos I've seen - even though she really can do better. Her vocals just lack some of that passion she had when her vocals were more rough and raw.

I really don't understand why her vocals are so uninspiring and bland nowadays, it's like she doesn't wanna get out of her safe space and experiment with delivery again.. the vocals on UV were insane and caked with rawness and emotion, if only she could channel that energy again for this new record she sings like such a deary folk singer it's boring. NFR is such a sassy album name pls bring the attitude and energy back lana

I agree with pretty much all of you. She's definetly lazy and doesn't feel like she has to do anything with her voice anymore, other than singing the most comfortable way. I don't think there's a single high-note belted on all of LFL...you know, using her chest voice. That ''to tell you that I really chaaaanged'' on Heroin comes the closest but it's not that high of a note at all. And there doesn't seem to be more brave vocals on NFR either so far. Everything is mid range, airy, dreamy and head voice; which I'm not mad about because sounds beautiful, but I wish she'd do a little more with her voice like in the past. Everybody says: I know she can do more...but can she? I feel like she can't do those types of vocals anymore after singing comfortably and taking no risks for 2-3 years. Maybe she surprises us, and I very much hope so
