Glitter Boy

i was really worried for this album. i’m not the biggest country fan so was cautious to not get too excited for it
 
just had my first listen... i was SO wrong to be worried, this album is really good 
 
enjoyed almost all the songs. a few misses (but to be expected on an album with well over 20 songs)

will digest this album over the next few months, gonna take me a while. i remember i wasnt sold on renaissance at first but it became one of my favourite bey releases, so i’m glad this one has clicked a bit earlier for me

It leans most heavy into country and folk but as she said, it's a BEYONCE album. There's two specific moments that discuss the idea of genre bending.
 
As a Mexican American with deep southern ties, this is such a beautiful project for me. Her voice is the best it's ever been and there's so much to sink your teeth into--you can tell as always she did her homework + worked with great collaborators. The GP will obviously go for the more upbeat tracks, but the most country cuts are some of the ones I see myself going back to often. 
 
A more than worthy follow up to Act I. I hope it gives an extra push in the industry to black country singers.

- Dragons Blood for Battle Of The Larynx (the worst by far) 
- Emerald for Amulet outro 
 
and that’s based on the topic of the songs and general storyline… but I’m pretty sure of that since she takes the concept of the album so seriously. She has stated multiple times she thinks of the titles and meanings before even making the songs 
 
anyway, every change was for worse in all the cases 
 

I'm surprised at your neverending Moon Cycle and Nymphology support, since those were the first songs I got rid of when the album came out  except for the Amulet interlude, those are mandatory skips for me  and even more knowing we got them over Needle & Thread or Fingers Crossed

I feel like she did TRIED to push Fossora in a more digestible way than Utopia, they might not be bops, but Ancestress, Mother's House, Allow, Ovule, Fossora and Fungal City are truly gorgeous and melodic

The way little björksters are artsy and different but we keep stanning her poppier songs the most. I understand that it's like wanting Lana to come back to BTD but ngl, I wouldn't mind a more approachable album than anything after Volta. 
I thought that's where Fossora was going with Atopos, Ovule and title track as singles but then the rest of the album was so slow.

The gap between Houdini and Training Season, the radio silence between Training Season and the album announcement, the album visuals being completely different from Houdini and Training Season's visuals, half of the album's lyrics being available on the vinyl preorder images... something isn't right about this rollout, or maybe we were too spoiled with how well the last one ended up being for her even in the face of a pandemic and leaks

Iggy Azalea - second album, retitled as Survive the Summer as originally planned (2019). I didn't think before of merging In My Defense with Survive the Summer but it pretty much works better, and also sneaking from Wicked Lips seems to work well.

I have feeling that when Book 1 comes out it will be a mix of older and newer material and even tho that will probably  make it lose some its connection to the lore and supposed plot development, I'll just take any good new music at this point
