I honestly think Lana's original point is REALLY interesting and REALLY complex - where's the line between asking women to be responsible with their output and then asking them to edit their truth? men aren't asked to be responsible. men aren't asked to edit their truth. That is a genuinely complex and nuanced question. But her point became moot when she used those those WOCs names as if to suggest they haven't recieved far worse critisism than Lana has ever or will ever recieve.

there could have been a really interseting conversation that came from her post if she hadn't executed it the way she did. the hate she recieved from mostly women at the start of her career WAS notably vicious and i think hurt her immeasurably to not be taken seriously and to be accused of fabricating her authenticity.

...But that defeats her whole point to say “delicate” women aren’t accepted in feminism? They either are or aren’t. Lana just thinks she’s the only one who faces criticism

this is it for me. i cannot deny lana had a real point to her post, but in the convos ive had with people outside of this forum i feel like i have to pretend that she didnt make a point about internalized misogny (twofold, perhaps). but theres simply no way to convince the whiners on twitter. most of them made up their mind about lana a long time ago anyways. it's a shame to see her lose casual listeners through this debacle though

Honestly I think it’s unhealthy when fan bases blindly support their artist. She’s human and she has things to learn and we all love and support her (many of us have been here for years and years) but we have to hold others accountable.

Absolutely agree with you. I love her but this is so tone deaf. I also feel like she’s going through something at the moment because most of what she’s getting criticized for now could have been avoided if she’d taken that first paragraph and the names of those WOC out of her mouth. She DOES come across as a WW who’s wilfully ignoring people who are trying to inform her - sounds like shes losing close friends because of it too from the video?

Love her but she’s tiring lmao

I swear, every time I'm just forgetting about that post (as I'm sure many others are), I get an insta notification and bam she's there with another "one last thing"... I understand she's upset and feels like she's been wrongly accused of being a racist. But this is the social media age and a time where we all have to be aware of our words and actions as well as maintaining a level of political correctness. It's unfortunate that her words have been misinterpreted by a mass audience but that's her responsibility, she wasn't misquoted or taken out of context. It was her post on her platform.

At this point she should just move on and let it go. Or, release a statement (get it proof read Lana) apologising for the tone or misinterpretation of her last statement and clarifying what she wanted to say in a clear and concise manner. Don't be saying stuff like "but they called me a white bitch", accept your privilidge and be more clear in the future.

Plus, I think it's in poor taste that every time she addresses this issue she somehow manages to announce a new poetry book, or album release date or album title. Don't let people think you're doing this as a form of hype or promotion either Lana.

On a side note, after the controversial post and the whole racism scandal. I think it's probably for the best that she doesn't call the forthcoming album White Hot Forever.

I still love her and I believe that she has only good intentions.

But, like she said herself, "unfortunately when you have a good heart it doesn’t always shine through".

She should have just apologized and learned from the constructive criticism.

Saying that it's all hate comments and acting like a victim even though she definitely was at fault for wording things messy, it makes me feel uneasy.

Also, it feels weird that she would be promoting her new record in an important video like this and distract from the actual content. It's just not the right time and place.

For fuck sake will her managers or label intervene and take her phone away. I can't believe I woke up to another ill judged post. Just say sorry and move forward before you really do some damage.
