    Re: Lana’s latest post

Imagine Lana performing at an inauguration. She doesn’t have the star power but it would be iconic

Lana is getting heat for spitting out a take that’s not a typical “I condemn Trump and leave at that” or the more hypocritical “both sides” that Matthew McConaghey, Chris Evans etc were doing. This take isn’t even new from Lana. She talks about it in Violet.

Sociopathy has become a function of American politics. There have been many articles and books written about this angle.

i think lana hearing the sentence "you're privileged"  sounds something like "you're a fraud, you were handed everything you never worked a single day in your life. bitch" in her head

and her hearing "you're ignorant about racial issues" sounds like "you're literally hitler. i bet you commit hate crimes for fun"

Of course Annie got uncomfortable as it went on, but people are acting like Lana turned to politics completely unprompted while Annie tried to discuss the music. Asking about 2020 is a loaded question, of course she's going to get into politics. She just didn't do it in as streamlined and concise of a manner as people would have liked, but her points were totally valid and she has every right to express them.

Complex is too major of a publication for total trash clickbait headlines like that, especially given the long relationship they have with Lana. It was completely disrespectful and tasteless.

while i totally understand and even agree it would be wonderful if someone sat down with lana and explained things to her, i think being disappointed that she isn't some woke queen is like ... idk you're only gonna keep being disappointed. like that's never been her, idk what made everyone suddenly want that from her other than it now being trendy to perform allyship for other's satisfaction. i also think a lot of the ppl who are cringing at her might be newer stans, i've kept up w her literally since i was in middle school (im 22 now) when i first saw the video games mv and fell in love. she's been treated horribly her entire career. i'm happy that she's finally standing up for herself and finding her voice. i know she's acting messy and causing drama and i'm not trying to excuse her privilege, but i think she keeps talking about herself and issues regarding her and yall keep turning it into other things like wanting her to understand racial history (which again, nothing wrong w that & i agree) but it's just like so missing the point. she's not a politician, she's clearly not super educated in this department and so to keep expecting this from her is just setting yourself up for disappointment and only perpetuating the very thing lana is tired of and speaking about here. even besides that, she's fully allowed to have different opinions than what you want from her, and she doesn't have to speak about certain things if she doesn't want to. i'm sorry if this doesn't make sense i can barely keep my eyes open rn, i just feel like some ppl might have a narrower perspective of what she's been saying ever since her qftc. she has said some pretty stupid things and i'm not excusing that, but i think ppl are focusing on one specific aspect and missing the bigger picture. i wish we would stop forcing celebs to be politicians it's so weird and unhealthy, and again it only further perpetuates your disappointment in her and her frustrations with us, so this mess will only keep on going

Didn’t Trump’s niece write a best selling book about Trump’s narcissism? It’s a feature that makes Trump who he is, so can the Internet stop insisting that Lana is entirely wrong...

I actually agree with her snapping back at them here. These publications are taking what she said out of context, her comments about Trump made sense and they're trying to spin it like she's excusing him from blame for the Capitol riots. Complex should definitely know better and I would feel disrespected if I were her, especially if they have a pre-existing relationship with her. They're a music publication and she just dropped an instant classic yesterday, can they report on the music instead?

to be fair, the riot at the Capitol is on everyone’s minds in the US. there’s almost no escaping it even if music is scheduled to drop

PARADIXO's 'Chemtrails over the Country Club' analysis

So, as LDR said, this album is very inspired by her family and friends. The release of Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass opened to us yet another door to her past: her childhood in Lake Placid and her troubled relationship with her upper-class family, especially her mother. Therefore, in order to understand pretty much everything from this album we have to see it from this point of view. In this song, we see both modern Lana and young Lizzy escaping out of the country club. Lizzy out of Lake Placid elite and LDR out of Los Angeles elite.

The title alone evokes a sense of silent danger - she could see the evil in these people but couldn't say a thing. "Wearing our jewels in the swimming pool / Me and my sister just playing it cool / Under the chemtrails over the country club," perhaps this is a memory of her being close only to her sister Chuck. "I'm not unhinged or unhappy, I'm just wild" - As the introvert that she is, I imagine this as her in a family event or whatever, poker-faced and her parents being mad at her. "It's beautiful, I'll escape / Normality settles down over me / I'm not bored or unhappy / I'm still so strange and wild." Same situation, but this time I think it's more about her escaping Los Angeles cult-like elite. "I'm still so strange," nothing has changed, she's still the 'underdog' they turned her into back in the country club.

Regarding the love-related lines in the lyrics, I can connect them to "Let Me Love You Like a Woman", which was about revisiting a lover from the past (at least metaphorically, as we're sure some songs from this album will be about Sean). Young Lizzy has met a guy she likes and she'll escape the club with him... and we know what happened later (which makes me excited for more revealing stuff on Behind the Iron Gates). "Well I don't care what they think / Drag racing my little red sports car." Maybe they didn't like this guy or he wasn't part of their group. Then adult Lana meets a new lover who reminds her of this past love, but I like to think that she meets the very same guy (again, a metaphor) and they want to try it again now that they're free: "Late night to be, I want you holding me / Like when we were kids / Under chemtrails and country clubs," and then, "It's never too late, baby, so don't give up."

The astonishing music video depicts all of this. The little girl, in my opinion, is her younger self. The scene where they're together is Lizzy alone in the mansion, and there she is an adult taking care of her (of herself) when nobody did. First we see Lana in the mirror dolling up herself and then the girl doing the same thing. We see very fast-paced images of Lana with a sad face, like she doesn't want to be there.

She's escaping out of the country club in her car, and then she has an accident, that being a metaphor to life hitting her hard once she forced herself to become independent. She had to learn the tough way and became wild yet strong. She found her own group of family and friends, hence the wolf symbolism (Wolves are independent and solitary animals but also have an incredible skill to create and protect inseparable herds; Maybe the wolf is her spirit animal?).
