If you need a break from the pop-up ads, just turn on AdBlock?
I thought everyone was using that.  
I literally turn off AdBlock on here because I wanna support Elle but I can always just turn it on if it gets too much.

not sure if its the best option tbh. vignettes are gonna decrease traffic, especially from new users. i believe thats gonna hurt your finances more in the long run than just keeping the ads as they were before & introducing supporters 3.0

Okay idk how srs this is but this is Elle's site at the end of the day and she is absolutely entitled to buy things she likes AND run ads to pay for her site.
Like she could take this shit doen tomorrow if she felt like it.
I don't like ads either - as I said they crash my laptop - but I totally understand her asking the general populace.
 
Also @ everyone the delay with the COCC theme isn't Elle's fault, she isn't the only person working on it but we are DOING it so leave us aloen.

I normally try to not get involved in the drama and just clown around instead but the speculation and, consequently, the extrapolation on someone’s personal and individual expenses/finances absolutely hit a remarkable low. It’s one thing to discuss your opinions on whether or not to have ads but it’s truly another to target and attack someone because of the way you perceive them. The discussion in this thread was never intended to be personal and I would urge that it stays this way. 
 
In my perspective owning a wide platform like Lanaboards is what makes them rich - rich in making friendships, in the ability to bring people together, rich in the way it can provide a voice for us introverts and an outlet for the extroverts, etc etc you get where I’m going. I look forward to reading each and everyone’s opinions on where you stand on the ads and I personally won’t attack you for them, and again I would urge you do the same...especially toward someone who simply wanted to hear your thoughts.

it's also kinda (really) rude to speculate on her finances. have you ever thought maybe she doesn't want to have to significantly change her way of living in order to fund a website covered in scat porn 3 out of 7 days of the week

So technically, it is against Google Adsense policy for me to ask users to click on ads (or click them myself) but I will answer some of these questions to give some insight!
Clicking on ads generates much more revenue than just viewing them. However, Google can also tell when I click ads myself or if people just click on ads repeatedly just for the sake of clicking them, or if people accidentally click an ad and immediately close the page. For an ad click to actually count, it has to seem like a real, genuine ad click. But yes, these sorts of clicks generate more revenue.
So, while I'm not asking/telling you to click on ads, you can take that information as you may xx

this makes me more inclined to say keep them tbh. obviously for the ppl who are suffering site glitches and stuff bc of them it’s a different story but i rly don’t think that having to click Close on an ad every 5-10 pages is big enough a deal to warrant not trying to help out w that kind of financial pressure

@Elle i'm curious, do you make more if one of us clicks the ad? should we all do an ad clicking campaign just to give the site more revenue? i'm genuinely wondering if that would do anything bc believe me i'll do it i'll click every ad for like an hour if it gives you more ad revenue and keeps the site open

I say keep them, they're not that bad. In the end, it goes to maintenance and keeping the site from crashing when an announcement happens, I'm okay with it 

The ads are annoying, but not so annoying that I can't click out of them.
I am willing to pay a small fee to disable them. 
I think guests should see the ads.
I would rather our regular members not have to experience the ads, or see them less frequently. 
 
Webhosting is really expensive and I really sympathise.
 
People complaining about them . . . you need to go outside for a second and remember how expensive it is to live lol.
 
Elle is basically paying $100 extra rent a month so we can shit post 24/7.  Could you afford to do that?

keep them, if it's easier for you to manage and maintain the site i don't see any problem at all, after all you've done for us it's the least we can do <3

I don’t see a problem with the ads - as said earlier, they truly are the most minor of inconveniences and I didn’t really think anything of them! It’s such a small thing and if it’s earning you more then that’s amazing! <3

I wanted to fill you in on what's been going on with some advertisements lately and gather some opinions.
About a week ago or so, Google Adsense implemented an automatic experiment with vignette ads (full-screen ads) that occur in-between page loads.
It only affects 50% of our users for now, but it has shown that my Adsense revenue has already greatly increased. Some days, I'm making up to 5x more than I usually do.
The end of this experiment is approaching, and it will give me the opportunity to permanently implement this ad placement, or remove it.
I wanted to gather your opinions on possibly permanently implementing this full-screen ads before I make a decision.
 
To give you a bit more information on these ads:
These ads will only occur in-between page loads. The ads will not randomly "pop up" as you are reading threads and such, and they will only occasionally occur when you click to browse another page of the site, and by simply pressing the "X" button on the ad, the ad will close and the next page will continue to load as normal. These ads will be the same forms of content as any other ads you would normally see on the site. So don't worry, you won't be seeing any sketchy ads for MILFS and such, but rather the same content you would see in the banner ads but in vignette form as well. They are the same Google Ads.  
Things to keep in mind:
While the site is free for you all to use, it is not free to host and manage. Each month, I pay several recurring fees to keep the site up and running for you all. I rely solely on Adsense at the moment to pay for these fees. As these vignette ads have greatly increased my ad revenue, this would help ease some of the stress of guaranteeing I generate enough revenue each month to fully cover the costs Any extra roll-over revenue these ads may produce will be greatly helpful to help finally pay off the loan I borrowed 4+ years ago to purchase LanaBoards in the first place, and can also help pay off the tab I have running from months that Adsense didn't fully cover the fees and I had to pay out of pocket. If I ever find I am generating more revenue than the site needs, I can absolutely remove these ads. (However, I still have lots to pay off for the site alongside monthly recurring fees, so this could be awhile.) I plan to implement an Ad-Free "subscription" package for LanaBoards that would be a monthly $2 cost for anyone who would like to be free from ads on all devices. Users can also choose to donate with a lump sum upfront rather that split into monthly payments  
 
So, given all this, I want your thoughts. Above anything, your enjoyment of the site is always my top priority. While this extra revenue would be very helpful for the site, I wouldn't implement these ads permanently if this is going to greatly detract from your enjoyment of your site.
If you find yourself wanting to access the site less or are tempted to use an ad-blocker program, please let me know.
I want to make sure no one feels greatly deterred from using the site with these vignette page-load ads, and using ad-blockers would defeat the purpose of me implementing these ads to help generate more revenue for funding the site, and could instead result in the site generating less revenue than normal.
 
Please be honest with me here, I really need your opinions.
 
I've put up a poll for this thread where you all can let me know if you're willing to tolerate these ads, or if they are unbearable and would greatly damper your enjoyment of the site.
Also please feel free to leave any further thoughts to explain your opinions below.

I think it’s equally important for both us reg users n mods to treat this delicately, like the implying of leaving is kinda offputting. 
 
The ads don’t seem to be so bad, but it’s a thing for some people so I mean it should be looked over. 
 
But what are our options really? 

Pop up ads are annoying but we live in the era where nonskippable Ads on YouTube are now one minute and everyone just sucks it up. But I will say that although the pop up ads are better than the banner ones that take up the entire screen like on the urban city forum I’m in, it does cheapens the site a bit, it gives me dbree tease. In the end whatever the choice ends up being I’ll follow ??‍♂️

 
also it is very clear that y’all were not here when @TIARNZUS was the owner and admin of this site. A literal N*zi that has kicked me out of here before when I called him out for his lack of site upkeeping and playing favoritism. If he was still owner, knock on wood we’d STILL would have the Tropico theme banner up or this site would outright had shut down by 2016 for his incompetence and being too busy spending LanaBoards money on sex toys. I rather have a admin that spends $5000 on a Paradise boxset than a dragon dildo ??‍♂️

Elle took out a loan from someone close to her and not some national bank, which I think people are perceived the loan as.
