i think she's just talking about the feeling of freedom that came with that period of time of her life / musical career, living in a trailer park, making her own music, performing, just the simple life of an unknown, independent musician who has found their purpose and passion

This is exactly how I feel about NFR’s less lyrically nuanced moments. In those moments where she wasn’t being super poetic or “insightful,” she was delivering really on-the-spot & honest emotional expression. 

I think the chorus of Cinnamon Girl is a great example of this; it’s not particularly complex from a lyrical standpoint, but it verbalizes a lot of unspoken and implicit hesitations, and she manages to deliver the lines in such a way that is both intimate and vulnerable.

I just finished watching this movie. Takes place in the 1960s japanese gay/crossdressing scene. It's confusing and freaky. It was a huge influence on Stanley Kubricks A clockwork orange

The Marilyn line in mans world is interesting to me for 2 reasons 
 
1. Marilyn famously said “I don’t mind living in a mans world, as long as I can be a woman in it.”
 
2. “Where man made her legend” ... Marina is attributing marilyn’s status as a legend to men? Why?! 
 
these 2 weird things makes me wonder if she’s actually kinda shading Marilyn. 

If you haven't seen Gregg Araki's Nowhere I highly suggest it. I can't do it justice by explaining it but if you like 90's queer rave aesthetic this is the movie. It's an absolute trip. 
It was marketed as 'Beverly Hills 90210 on Acid' and it stars a bunch of young stars. Most of Araki's releases are hard to come by but Nowhere is on youtube at a good quality at the moment.
