this is such a crazy planet       It´s no wonder the Aliens don´t want to come here to greet us.   We are ALL Insane.

Every time they come here in their saucers, they look at what we do and say, and they turn around and place a "  Don´t Visit - No Vacancy " sign on
the border of our solar system - for everyone else to be warned - Humans are insane.

I would have advised against posting anything as Lana can't seem to tie her shoelaces before she walks. It was unfortunate that the tangled web she weaved for herself happened just before George Floyd's murder. In reality Lana's psycho drama pales in relation to what happened to Mr. Floyd.  She may take some heat or some love now on social media but the media in general will not pick up on it because it is not that important. THE TRUTH IS CNN, THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE WASHINGTON POST, FOX NEWS 60 MINUTES ETC. ARE NOT BEATING A PATH TO LANA DEL REY'S DOOR TO GET HER OPINION ON THIS!!!!!! The idea that her posting or not is somehow important in the grand scheme of things is absurd. She is another high profile person who has a louder voice than we do but her making a post is not going to raise the consciousness of the culture. I will still buy her records and see her in concert. My opinion and I am not here to argue.

As a Bowie fan and Lana referencing not just Bowie but this song I made this post myself.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I do believe the original statement and the way she went about that was problematic - I still don't believe her intention was to be racist and I honestly still don't believe that Lana is a racist. She's very good friends with both The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky, her 2 backing dancers and best friends are both women of colour and in her original statement she said the women she listed were her friends. I do however disagree with the way she went about that whole situation and have made my opinions about that whole saga clear in a previous post.

I think being labelled a racist a few days prior to such a traumatic event that is so heavily political and race based, is unfortunate on her account. Again, I'm not defending her, the statement was ignorant and she deserved the criticism she received, in my opinion. But having a platform like hers, she's expected to comment on events like the protests and the #blacklivesmatter movement that are happening right now. I honestly think, and again, just my thoughts... I think she remained silent as a show of respect, you know if she had of posted straight away about the incident she would have received major backlash following last leaks allegations of racism. Camila Cabello also receieved criticism on social media for posting about #blacklivesmatter (she was exposed for posting racist tweets (pre-fame) back in January).

And yes, it was easier for her to remain silent, I can see that side and see how she could be seen as somebody who doesn't care etc. But, I do believe she remained silent in hopes of not adding fuel to the already burning fire, surrounding her priviledge and status. Of course, she couldn't stay silent forever, other peers calling her (and others) out for not speaking up and using their platforms - therefore she posted about it. Here it gets tricky, the way in which she posted did feel very, I have to do this etc. However, maybe it was for the best after all that she didn't write a statement, and she was potentially scared to, following on from last weeks events.

She clearly went to a protest and was there, it's one thing posting on social media cos you have to, or your management want you to, or it's the right thing to do. But to actively go and protest, I think says more than you think. Again, it got problematic, she posted the video of people looting and didn't blur out their identity, even zooming in on some people - I genuinely don't think this was her trying to expose the looters or protestors (as she's been accused). I think this was a legitimate mistake and she has since removed the video after people pointed out her error.

As for, what happens to Lana Del Rey now? I personally don't think this will effect her career as much as people think. Like I mentioned above Camila Cabello was exposed as a racist earlier this year and at the time, with cancel culture, it's easy to get caught up in the hyperbole of a situation. I do think her next record will probably decrease in terms of sales and acclaim, sales because she probably has lost fans due to her recent posts and behaviour (and that's her own doing). However, Norman Fucking Rockwell was well received as a coming of age, self reflection, looking outwards record. Clearly the new album is a return to her earlier style of songwriting, which as she pointed out, was heavily criticised and therefore I think recent events aside, the forthcoming album would have always been negatively received in comparison to Norman, especially as a follow up record. Whether or not the album is released this year, I don't know, I can't imagine them delaying it. But, I don't think her career is over, far from it to be honest.

I would be devastated as well. Beyond devastated. I have refrained from posting any of my views about all of this bc I don’t like confrontation and I’m incredibly sensitive, but I will say that I think moving forward no matter what she says in poetry or an album might receive a ton of unnecessary hatred. Again, without saying what is right or wrong, the message that Lana is likely receiving is that there’s a problem with her expressing herself in all ways. I mean after so long, I would probably give up. I hope that she doesn’t bc I need her music.

Im so confused how any of what happened makes Lana racist?...

She’s pissed some people off, it makes her a target, at least for now. If she didn’t post about the riots, she’s awful, when she does post, she’s not doing it right ect. It’s the nature of social media, people love to drag, and even if it’s earned, the level of enjoyment people get out of it has always been weird to me.

she cant catch a break, as i predicted

now that she has voiced her support in 2 posts and her stories, thats not enough cuz she didnt tweet donation links, or saying she is too late i feel for her

The dumbasses on stan twitter posting about burning all of her CDs and merch, but quickly taking it back because she uploaded something on the internet... clown shit

remember social media has only been a major thing for the past say 10 years. just because you dont retweet a picture or write something online DOES NOT mean you do not care. that mentality is so annoying. however social media is obviously great for a number of reasons/spreading awareness which is why we wanted her to post something of course in the first place but the fact that she is taking physical action is a lot more than some of the assholes who are dragging her have probably done. and we cant assume the celebrities that haven't posted anything do not care either because for all we know they could've donated thousands towards charities but were honorable enough to not share it.

moral of the story, lets not be so quick to judge everybody and stop being so reliant on social media for activism.

    just my two cents

honestly tho I hope she deletes her social media or at least moves back to her honeymoon account or something, this whole social media culture is messy and exhausting af, I feel for her.

Everybody just interprets what they want into her posts, it doesn't matter what she does, there is always someone complaining. And this pretentious "she should use her platform to spread awareness", "she should post donation links so ppl know what to do" or "her silence really says a lot" is ridiculous. What is this obsession and dependency with celebrities people have these days, since when does your social media feed reflect every part and corner of your political and social opinion. Everyone in- and outside the States knows what is going on, we don't need Lana to "spread more awareness" on this topic, it's all over the fucking international news. People all over the world are protesting, holding memorials and weirdly enough they got wind of it without the help of Lana.

Yes, it would shed a better light on her public image if she posted donation links etc. but what would it really change? If you as a private person really care enough to get involved, you shouldn't depend on a celebrities' instagram or twitter feed in the first place, the first logical reaction would be to simply google how and where to help/show support/donate. Donation links are shared all over the internet and y'all mad at her because she's not as visibly involved as you want her to be? Besides the fact one should always double check sources/donation links, since celebs are humans and also make mistakes/fall victim to scams. A bit of self-involvement is always required, Lana isn't here to serve everything you need to know on a silver plate.

If someone really is dependent on celebrities social media accounts to get informed about news and recent world events, the problem isn't a celebrity (Lana) not posting about it but one's unhealthy obsession with celebrities (and maybe the way of one own's media consumption). Lana is an artist, not a politician, social rights activist or human rights lawyer. It's not fair to judge and demand from her the same public engagement as someone who's doing it for a living or simply voluntarily chooses to be more vocal about it, it is not her job to educate people. And it's not her job to post every single thought she has, this social media obsession is getting out of control. It was already bad with facebook but Instagram and Twitter are making it worse, one is getting judged by their content on a frickin' APP. It's as if private thoughts, opinions and actions do not exist outside that social media bubble.
Stan or unstan her, support her or not but it's ridiculous to pretend this is not some form of ego satisfaction, wanting your fave celebrities to share your same values and opinions and not wanting to get disappointed by seeing the human behind that "celebrity" image. It's not about her and her political stand or more "awareness" (she isn't the biggest celeb out there, i doubt her massive impact), it's about how we perceive her and wish her to be, because in the end, we are all obsessed but none of us really knows her outside of the image she created for herself, with the content she shares. Leave her be.

I don't get why people want to hate someone so bad..what does it offer? a scapegoat is always useful ig?

God this is so frustrating. I don't think she deserves half the hate she's getting today. The video sucked and she took it down. But she is out PROTESTING. There are celebrities saying stupid shit and only posting BLM "tag 10 people" chains and they're attacking her?? So much of it is just bullying at this point. And I am not one to defend her every move but it's like... come on. She is out walking the walk.

It's days like these that make me think the invention of social media wasn't that good of an idea... It produced this kind of "culture" where showing off or blaming other people in the internet has become important for one's image.

I know that she's the last person to be concerned about right now, but just can't avoid feeling sad about how much a disoriented, isolated and misunderstood she may be feeling. She was almost crying in the last video she uploaded and things have just gotten worse since then. Just hoping that she will elaborate all this from a constructive perspective and finally get how much social responsibility a world known artist as her must live up to.

God I hope you guys never make any mistakes on the internet. She posted it, was told that she should not do it and then took it down. Can y'all get off your high horse?

i thought she was trying to say that george floyd would disagree with the violence and rioting happening

It's a bit weird and kinda bourgeois the way she's mesmerized by the looting, but it goes with what she said in her video : reparations towards the black community... Well I guess it's, to her, a form of immediate material reparation. But "she said nothing" ? Bitch ass internet politicians need everything to be stated in so overt and corny and cheesy a way "we in this together " shit... She was there in the middle of a riot ? It's self explanatory.

i dont know it seems so hypocritical to think like that
    -posting : she cares
-not posting : she doesnt care
Like obviously protesting and donating are main ways of helping without having to be public about it. You can't tell me her post rn would bring more awareness to the situation that it already has.

    screaming at this.

i mean, let her go. she could've done better by posting donation links, other pics, not that video, of course!! but at least she DID something and showed up in the streets, while most of us are on our computers talking shit about her/others celebrities without even doing anything about the blm movement after all. so yeah, let her go!! just focus all your anger and energy to actually HELP, instead of trashing ppl online.

What does Lana have to do? Go shoot a cop or something? What do ya’ll expect from her? Just never satisfied.

She was there on the ground which is more than a lot of the online detractors can probably say for themselves. Unfortunately it probably wasn't the best idea to post a really long static of video of people looting where you can actually make out some of their faces.

The irony is if she didn't post this we wouldn't have known she was there and she would have be condemned for that. When in reality showing up is doing more than sharing something like so many other celebrities are doing. I don't doubt she has donated to bail funds either but again unless she publicly posts it - which would be self-serving - she would be condemned. Yes it's a long way from condemning racist and violent police but she was literally dating one I'm not expecting her to be as great as she should be which in itself is a privledge. This is far bigger than her and now she hasn't remained silent. So...

unless she donates a million dollars, shared every petition, documented every thing she did and posted in online and personally beheaded donald trump some of y’all will never be happy :/

i’m glad she’s doing more - and i hope she’s also donated. not everything needs to be posted online and performed for the masses.

tbh i'm glad she's showing the issue in her way, videos of her own personal experience in usa, not just thoughtlessly reposting the same stuff every celeb is
