It's so interesting how she described this, as Swan Song is my least favourite Lana song because it makes me sad. Honeymoon was released during a pretty difficult time in my life where all I wanted to do was give up on everything, and so Swan Song hit too hard and was essentially unlistenable to me. I think it really is one of her saddest songs. I can just imagine her singing it with glazed-over eyes. It's that feeling of numbness and total defeat. I'm so happy she's in a much better place now - and myself, too. I still struggle to listen to that song even now though as it just transports me back to that time which is why it remains my least favourite, but I've gained some appreciation for it recently and now, especially after this note from her. (It's funny how all my least favourite Lana songs in my ranking are solely because I have a bad memory tied to them. I really don't think she can make a bad song that I dislike just because of the song itself.) x

This interview actually made me emotional. Her talking about saying goodbye, thank you at the end of an album and then how she comes back to writing more? Tears in my eyes. Also, these photos? Serve of the decade at a minimum.

God Knows I Tried and Swan Song acknowledgement in the span of less than a week? Welp, at least she’s finally paying respects to one of her best albums….. 7 years later

its funny bc you wouldnt have guessed that shes having trouble with writing bc of how shes been working almost non-stop. for her own well being, i’d like to see her take a break from working for a little while after ldr9 is released.

This is the saddest part of the interview for me tbh. I know she talked about having writers block after LFL and before Norman but it’s so sad she still seems to be in that place

I almost wonder if this wordy, whatever-comes-to-mind style will sound anything like this in terms of songwriting
it’s also coincidentally a song that Lana improvised over that led to the creation of Never Let Me Go

BlueGreenGray liked a post in a topic by PatentLeatherDoOver in Jack Antonoff has revealed that him and Lana have recorded a new song at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, CA.
Do people realize that—throughout Lana’s career—many of her songs have started as voice memos (or even just little melodies she’d hum) that were later assigned chords on piano and then repackaged with different production once the melody and chord progression was figured out? This process is neither new to Lana nor specific to Jack.
Toying around with lyrics in the studio, using voice memos, going in the studio for fun, etc. aren’t measures of work ethic, inspiration, or quality. In fact, Antonoff (and other producers/engineers) himself has talked about her stubbornness in the studio. An artist with little care or motivation for her work will not fight to see it manifested how she wants it.
Anyways, I’m super excited to hear what they’ve cooked up!

I really like this. I can see the cover being something like that cause the b&w matches the vibe of the "stream of consciousness" type of record she seems to be going for (even though it's Lana and we know she's not the best as describing her own music so maybe we are getting something more carefree in sound even if the lyrics are on the complex side)

the more i think abt the album's few (possible) clues and how it might all come together, the more it seems so ambitious to me - i fear we might be in for an experimental, hypnotic, spiritual, highly conceptual masterpiece automatic writing, the unconscious, surrealism, old hollywood, hysteria, poetry, honeymoon's lush orchestral production?? brian eno and david lynch could never manifesting so hard

Personally, I think Lana would kill something like this on LDR9. It reminds me a bit of some of her LFL demos and her pre-debut work.
Lana hanging with Donoghue has me (wishfully) hoping his “witch house” music influences would rub off on her to make a lo-fi, murky, vibe of a record with electronic influences.
It’s unrealistic, but I like entertaining the idea anyways

Dreaming in No Color ????
….a play on the phrase “dreaming in technicolor” which normally denotes being wildly unrealistic. We’ve even seen her toy with this concept before in Get Free:
“There’s no more chasing rainbows/
And hoping for an end to them/
Their arches are illusions/
Solid at first glance.”
just an unrealistic guess lol

With the information we have, I almost feel like LDR9 will be the musical equivalent to Violet, but instead of channeling her headspace through colorful imagery, she’s giving us her pure, unfettered thoughts and emotions.
People (including myself) always say she has such a captivating way of speaking, and I think utilizing her own conversational tone (and deliberately accenting it instrumentally) will make LDR9 perhaps her most unique record to date.
I think candor will be a reoccurring theme throughout the album, but I don’t think it will have the same degree of autobiography that Blue Banisters had; rather, I think we’ll likely get jolted into her current pains, musings, and experiences.
I’m definitely anticipating some snarky, on-the-nose moments now. I think we’ll also get some philosophical pondering, especially regarding her family, karma, and destiny. I’m also getting ready for some nonsensical lyrics that may naturally come from immediate lyricism (think Kurt Cobain).
I’m excited! Sonically, I have no idea if we’ll see anything new, but orchestras and an 808….I’m intrigued
