Last year's Grammy race was so rigged folks! It was rigged in favor of Billie Eilish.

Both her parents work in the entertainment business. As a kid, she got signed up for GrammyU so she grew up around the academy. Her team shoved her down the throats of academy members. The deck was stacked.

Lana will win a Grammy eventually. Remember Bob Dylan didn't win a Grammy for his own work until 1980. He won Album of the Year in 1998. Even with Dylan the academy was late to the party.

Lana's team (management, agent, label, publishing etc) will need to play hardball for her to win a Grammy but it can be done. Dua Lipa (also managed by Ben & Ed) was able to win two Grammys in one night in 2019. I'm sure this can done for Lana too. There is a way to force NARAS' hand. Make money, shake lots of hands, kiss asses, put Lana on TV, put her all over the place so that she can't be avoided. Then the academy members will have no choice but to chose Lana.

I sent this to some of the fan accounts on IG, as well as one of her friends. I’m sure Lana will get word of this.

I don’t know why this isn’t a news headline? One of the all time great songwriters (Springsteen) praises Lana and the press doesn’t pick it up. Lana posts pictures from a protest and the press reports on what Khelani and Tinashe say. This is proof of the double standard Lana was mentioning in her IG post from May. That is very bias and dishonest reporting right there. Bruce praising Lana should be a news headline.

We have not seen Lana smoking a cigarette since 2018. As of last year she was vaping.

I think Lana quit smoking but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm this? What about the vaping. Is she still doing that?

I would hope that she is not doing either of those things anymore. I quit smoking too, much like Lana I also smoked Parliaments. I guess we both had a preference for recessed filters!

But if she did quit that’s good. She’s a vocalist and smoking is something which I would not recommend for anyone who sings.

But damn, it is hard to quit!

I don’t want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me”- Jack Nicholson in the departed.

Lana’s environment is a product of Lana.

    Lana is winning.

He has momentum behind him and you know what that means? It means Lana will win the Grammy for Spoken Word Album next year!

Not until 2022. The eligibility period ends August 31. The album is released on September 5.

At next year’s Grammys (2021) Lana is already eligible for Spoken Word Album (“Violet”) and Best Music Video (Norman Fucking Rockwell).

If a song from the next album drops before August 31, then that would be eligible for Record and Song of the Year as well as Pop Solo Performance.

Not to speculate, but vaping can certainly affect one’s singing voice. I wonder if the vaping affected her voice and then maybe she quit vaping after seeing it’s not good for her voice.

Vocal coaches left and right are telling these kids who sing not to vape. They always have to say it now because so many kids now vape.

Mystery is powerful. Keep people guessing. You know who else lays low? Bob Dylan.

Lana is taking another page out of the Bob Dylan handbook which is a good handbook to use.

Attitudes within the industry are changing on that front. Tonight Taylor Swift is releasing a surprise album that no one knew was coming.

Traditionally you release a single or two before the album drops. But that’s changing.

Lana knows that her fans are loyal, so she knows her fans will jump on it once it’s out even if there are no songs released prior.

we haven't seen her with a vape since the end of the nfr tour i think and you're right about her quitting cigs in 2018
maybe she quit when she cancelled the european tour back in february because she did say she had lost her singing voice. maybe that kinda opened her eyes? idk i hope thats the case

In all honesty I think Lana is really going to embrace her folk roots and stick with folk-rock. I don’t think Lana really cares about being commercial at this point. The only thing which is commercial now is either Rap or Country music. So we know Lana won’t make a rap album. Country music? Close. Folk music? Absolutely! So I’m going with folk-rock kind of like Crosby Stills and Nash.

Don’t put it past her. She really could drop the album as a surprise and not let anything out before that date. It’s her call.

However to promote the album I would love for her to go on The Howard Stern Show.

It’s good that he’s an academy member. The academy does do a lot of important work though, especially MusiCares and the Grammy Foundation.

Well to understand Lana’s impact we first need to understand where Lana’s inspiration comes from.

So where does Lana’s inspiration come from? Her biggest influences are Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Neil Young. Laurel Canyon has had a huge influence on her art. We can’t forget about the influence Lou Reed has had on Lana. Even David Lynch’s art has had a major influence on her art.

So Lana has a Rock and a Roll heart but a folk music soul. You can trace her musical roots all the way back to Woody Guthrie.

So fast forward to 2011-2012 when Lana started shaking things up. At that time pop music was happy, fun and upbeat. But could people really relate to that? No. The music industry establishment itself was out of touch with the audience. Lana came in with songs people related to on a very deep level. She brought substance. The music critics were at first very unfair to her. She did not fit into the mold of a neatly processed pop star. She was not an industry plant like so many other people at the time. Lana was real. She received online hate because she was authentic, a woman and beautiful. But as time went by Lana secured a loyal fan base really fast. On top of that she was making money and money is what makes the music industry go round. And take my word for this; I come from a music industry family. My father is a Grammy nominated engineer, so I know what goes on. So the critics may have been unfair to Lana, but she secured and audience and was making money on one of the top record labels (Interscope).

As for the indie genre, Lana’s impact has been huge. Without Lana you would not have Lorde or Billie Eilish. Lana paved the way for them so that they can be successful and win Grammys even though NARAS is yet to give Lana a much deserved Grammy.

But Lana has done something very few musicians do; she has created a new genre of music; Hollywood Sadcore.

Only recently people have finally started to recognize Lana’s impact and how she was the most influential songwriter of the 2010s. Taylor Swift said it best when she said that Lana is her favorite contemporary songwriter. You can even see Lana’s influence on Taylor Swift.

When the history books are written, they will be very kind to Lana. 20 years from now the history books will look back at 2012 and say that Lana changed the industry. All the criticism from that time will be silenced. Let’s remember that many of Lana’s musical heros were not fully embraced at first. Bob Dylan wasn’t fully embraced at first. Now he is a Nobel prize winner. Bruce Springsteen who praised Lana last week had to deal with similar criticism from music critics.

Let us be absolutely clear; Lana Del Rey is the greatest musical storyteller of her generation. As a songwriter she is every bit as good as Bob Dylan. And she is the best of her generation because she learns from the best; Dylan, Springsteen, Cohen, Michell, CSN.

So to this new generation; Lana is the one who inspired them. Lana is to this generation what Bob Dylan is to the baby boomers.

So what did Lana do? She did what she wanted to do. Never do something just because other people do it. Never follow the crowd. Make up your own mind and then do it. This is what Lana did.

In The Departed, Jack Nicholson’s character says “I don’t want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me”. This is what Lana has done for the music industry.

Lana will get the recognition she deserves. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but she will get proper recognition. She is a future member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And speaking of Rock and Roll, Lana is the one who will save that genre. She has already created her own musical genre and she is going to save another one. A revival of folk-rock is already going on thanks to Lana.

I can literally go on all day discussing Lana’s impact and where things are going. I have studied music extensively so I just love these kinds of discussions!
