the snippet kinda made me think it would build up from there... but if it’s the only tangible thing we are getting until release?
all I need is a confirmation of the date. I can live with whatever, but a confirmation of the Sept 5 release or whatever date if it is postponed.

LIB isn’t that great either. It’s pretty easy to see why it was scrapped in my opinion, it almost feels unfinished.... something’s just missing

So, the theme behind this one is pretty obvious: the escape to California in search of a better life 
I've tried to add songs from each album like they're telling a story: from her arrival to the Golden State (FIILY), to her wanting her man there (Freak), the disillusion about what's seems to be the Garden of Eden but in reality is the Garden of Evil (Gods & Monsters), the melancholy of her reminiscing the time with her man (California & VB) till the last songs in which she questions her happiness in that place... I was aiming to an overall summery feeling, and I think it's pretty well balanced!
I've even turned this into a Spotify playlist that I listen to regularly.

i have a theory that part of the themes and lyricism in NFR was kind of an experiment to test critics/the general public. I don’t think that it felt totally authentic to her (obviously there is a grain of truth in everything she says/does, but in this case it kind of felt forced, like the smile on the LFL cover), and to me her insta debacle confirmed this. not saying she doesn’t fully stand behind everything she wrote, I just don’t think it’s her natural way of thinking about things so it didn’t feel very passionate to me, which is something I always look forward to in her music. i think that’s why she didn’t sing too many of the new songs on tour either, although not to drag her it didn’t seem like she enjoyed singing many of her songs at all lmfao

Mariners Apartment Complex is her magnum opus. It is the epitome of what her music represents.

Not only was NFR a “masculine” album in the sense that the title was a man’s name, but also the fact that she takes on a traditionally masculine role on the album cover and in the narrative, where she leads the dance through a relationship (particularly in MAC through the “I’m your man” affirmations). I think that explains why the album was received so well, which was because Lana presented a very commanding presence with this record, which proves the point she made in the Question for the Culture post. “Norman’s little sister,” being Chemtrails, will maybe see her step back from a role that is  typically associated with masculine characteristics and see her meditate on her own feminine “fragility” in relation to the romantic/sexual liberty that she feels society’s modern woman is seen to disassociate from in order to be seen as empowering;  I think Lana will offer an outlook through which women don’t have to be one prescribed thing in order to be seen as empowering. I think this record will contain a lot layers thematically and may lend itself to a certain inclusivity of all types of women, given the fact that Lana’s catalogue has seen her be more than just one type of woman, all of which are valid  Lana’s ability to be vulnerable is strength and empowerment, in my opinion. I’m thinking Let Me Love You Like a Woman will tie really nicely into this concept. 

I believe when LFL was released she literally said the next album will pick up where she left off with Get Free (I’m assuming that was the ocean sounds at the end which lead into the sailing theme of NFR, and also just in general the themes in Get Free) but I don’t think she’s said anything about how this record will sound?? I was hoping it would be a more structured version of the instrumentals from Violet because they were so beautiful  but after the TJF snippet it sounds a lot like Cinnamon Girl so I think that’s probably what we will be getting. I also kind of wish if this does end up being Midwest themed that she would go back to her AKA sound for it but  I don’t think that’s gonna happen
