Jesus. I just watched her Instagram video and my heart sank. I'm still processing it, just like we all are. I do agree with many of you that it is strange that she is doing this as her new album is being rolled out.  It reminds me of an interview she did many years ago, where she was talking about her past and how she spent a lot of time volunteering and doing work to help others. I wonder if she's getting back to doing that. I also remember interview a long time ago that mentioned she was looking at possibly writing a musical or something for Broadway? I could be wrong, ultimately I just hope she's okay and that nothing tragic happened to trigger all of this. When I think back on different things she said over the years, I remember when Ultraviolence was being rolled out and she said made a statement in an interview, along the lines about how she didn't want anyone to hear it. I really do believe she struggles with Fame and all that comes with it, and now that her sister's baby has been born, maybe she's realizing that she wants to dedicate her life to other things right now. Sorry for rambling, my head is spinning right now, I just really truly hope she's okay. I was paying attention to her tone and her blinking and she definitely seemed sad in that video. Still, I'm looking forward to the new record just like everyone else is ❤

I would assume she signed on for X amount of studio albums. That's how we know M15 has to come out at some point, bc Madonna signed on for a 4 album contract with Interscope (MDNA, RH, MX have been released so far), so I would imagine a similar approach would be taken. 
 
I don't know the details but would assume, from someone who works with clients/contracts in my own work, Interscope would've wanted to bank on the success of NFR! and likely wanted her to sign a renewed version of her contract. Perhaps she signed on for 2 more albums and that's why COTCC and BB were released so quickly, as they would fulfill her contract. Totally just speculation.

Idk why this has me so shaken up, way more than it should be, but it’s totally hindered my ability to focus on anything else at the moment including important work I should be doing lol. I think I’ve just received so much unsettling news this week that I don’t know to process unexpected news anymore  Although I’m admittedly very upset about this as I always love interacting with her through Instagram especially when she’d notice my lil comments or what not, her happiness and well-being will always come first, and she seems to be doing this in dedication to those two things. I have been very sporadic myself on Instagram for the past two years, and truthfully one of the only reasons I’d ever open the app lately is when I’d get a notification she posted! It’ll be weird and empty without her there but I do understand her decision, even if it’s sad news on my end. I just hope she returns one day if she ever feels up to it - I’ll miss her! x

Her specific use of the word "covers" this time is interesting, as opposed to "standards and classics for Christmas" as she said previously.
I feel like that opens the door to ditch the songbook standards concept and expand out to any and every suggestion made in this thread

When do we think this is coming? I don't expect a physical release (at least not right away) so I can see it being released before the year ends and she started recoding last summer so maybe she has already half an album worth of songs.
By the way, I think the AS&C was a thing when she had limited time and wanted it out before Christmas of 2020 but now that she has no real time limit she has a broader song selection to choose from. I'd really prefer if she covered some more "modern" classics.
