    Welcome back LDR.

Also I laughed when the caption called this “Valentino gown”. That’s a blanket pls.

to be honest I can kinda tell she’s been having trouble writing. Her songs have completely shifted from creative story telling to more personal ‘telling my story’ songs and I think a part of that is because of the writers block. Watercolor Eyes is the first song in years that has a more ‘creative’ story

This year has been an all-timer for LDR fashion and makeup in my opinion. Between this shoot and her public appearances, it seems like she's really tapping back into that vintage glamour she's always loved. It also doesn't feel like what she's done before, though, which makes it even better. This shoot alone feels like a revamp of that sort of style to match who Lana is now. I love it so much

Her comments about fashion being fun again make me happy. I remember 10 years ago she was always asked about her entrance into the fashion world and her answer would always be about the beautiful people she met in it, and how everyone was dedicated to making their lives into works of art. And that translated into how glamorous she was, and how the looks were always a real extension of the music!

We got a bit of that again in 2018, but other than that, her relationship with the fashion world seemed to be not as much of a focal point, in timely coincidence with her scaling back on PR as a reaction to hypercriticism. I’m glad she’s stepping back into it now though, and having fun with the glamour and midcentury references in terms of imaging, which we saw earlier! It’s like a return to form and her uninfluenced, authentic inspirations in a way (even though everything she does is exactly that).

    Okay three things:

    1. The photoshoot is great except maybe a few shots.
    2. The interview tells me almost nothing. One of the most important things is her saying she finds it hard to write nowadays and it was followed by some question about Old Hollywood instead of digging into this because Idk it seems important somehow??
    3. Out of all these photos...the editors chose these two for the cover? Instead of this one for example:
This happens way too often. You look at a photoshoot with amazing shots and somehow these editors manage to pick the least flattering ones to use as a cover...

Anyway yes underwhelmed by cover and interview but looking forward to some angry songs. The vibe of the photoshoot reminds me of the ones taken between UV and HM, like early 2015.

This interview actually made me emotional. Her talking about saying goodbye, thank you at the end of an album and then how she comes back to writing more? Tears in my eyes. Also, these photos? Serve of the decade at a minimum.

I really dig those rich Italian mob mama vibes. And those curves are just out of this world sexy. She looks stunning.

Swan Song has always been a top three track for me oddly enough, and I don't know what it says about me that I never really understood just how depressing it was until a few months ago. I thought the experience Lana described in the song sounded so freeing and wonderful, although I guess that says more about my own mental health at the time than anything else lol. Hearing her talk about the song the way she did in this interview makes the fact that she never sang it live make more sense

I think that we can all agree that whatever goes on inside Lana's head, she's able to turn it into something beautiful and impactful and it always carries a message.

I feel the exact same way about swan song. The way she described it in the interview really just put into words how it makes me feel. I used to not listen much but a few months ago I started on it and listen to it a lot. I love it now because I can relate. But she doesn’t have any bad songs. She’s the only artist I can say I like her entire discography. It’s so cool.

I really agree with you here. When I first listened to Swan Song, it made me break down and sob because finally it felt like I had something that could describe how I felt in life. Feeling like I was on the edge of defeat yet still having some lust for life buried deep down inside me. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. "Do you like where you've been and where you're going to ... say goodnight to the life and the world you knew" is such an obvious reference to that one action that we all know and perhaps had a brush with. It's that line what really stuck with me and continues to stick with me. In my eyes, Swan Song just perfectly encapsulates that feeling of defeat and giving up on everything, perhaps a little too well. Like you and Lana, I'm also in a better place and listening to the song also transports me back (or reminds me) of that state of mind I had so long ago and just how lucky I am, how lucky we are, to be in a better place now.

Edit: Might I add that no other song has made me sob like Swan Song did. Come Undone by Duran Duran maybe, but nothing ever came close to Swan Song.

It's so interesting how she described this, as Swan Song is my least favourite Lana song because it makes me sad. Honeymoon was released during a pretty difficult time in my life where all I wanted to do was give up on everything, and so Swan Song hit too hard and was essentially unlistenable to me. I think it really is one of her saddest songs. I can just imagine her singing it with glazed-over eyes. It's that feeling of numbness and total defeat. I'm so happy she's in a much better place now - and myself, too. I still struggle to listen to that song even now though as it just transports me back to that time which is why it remains my least favourite, but I've gained some appreciation for it recently and now, especially after this note from her. (It's funny how all my least favourite Lana songs in my ranking are solely because I have a bad memory tied to them. I really don't think she can make a bad song that I dislike just because of the song itself.) x

Omg not her mentioning Swan Song!?….one of her most beautiful and underrated songs that fans don’t care about. BUT I LOVE IT.

the way lana's anger manifests conceptually is so interesting though, like to come up with dark but just a game, dance til we die, wfwf, and black bathing suit?  that's why i can never see her doing something straightforward, reputation-style (nor would i want that, i think)

I read it at 6am and totally missed the bit about being an angry bitch
Idk if I believe her, though
According to QftC, COCC was supposed to be a take on the music industry and how she's been treated unfairly and it really wasn't
    Hopeful but also

the more i think abt the album's few (possible) clues and how it might all come together, the more it seems so ambitious to me - i fear we might be in for an experimental, hypnotic, spiritual, highly conceptual masterpiece  automatic writing, the unconscious, surrealism, old hollywood, hysteria, poetry, honeymoon's lush orchestral production?? brian eno and david lynch could never  manifesting so hard

Truly incredible scene. And I remember that she cited Thomas Newman’s score for it as one of the earlier influences for her music. It’d be interesting if she ever decided to draw from that well again. 🧡
