Let the Light In

After all the songs we are getting from her earlier sessions with Barrie, I think we can appreciate that she felt the need to change the lyrics of The Next Best American Record.

I know some people has an issue with the mask lyrics in Violet for Roses but apart from what she meant literally is not problematic at all as she means she is relieved that she is seeing signs that pandemic is getting over; lyrics have double entendre where there is more timeless reference to the concept of the song as she chooses what she wants, and not what the other person dictates to her:
 
The girls are running 'round in summer dresses with their masks off = The girls are being free and being themselves

She didn't like the song at first but on Twitter she said it became one of her favorites.

I love how in "Change" there's something in the wind and she sings about how she feels a positive change coming, and she doesn't know where or when, but she'll be ready for it when it arrives. And then in "Violets For Roses" there's something in the air and she sings about this personal awakening as both the world and her own self come back to life after a dark period. It's like that feeling she felt way back in Change is finally coming to fruition through self love and a rediscovery of happiness.
