my question is: realistically, why wasn't lana able to see jack to add finishing touches and perfect the album because of the pandemic? that didn't stop her before when she did a public book signing. lol, I'm only half-joking, but I do think if need be, they could've (?). still I respect her for following COVID guidelines just as I respect her for putting out an album she was "unsure" of, because it is brave to put something out so raw. I agree she could be remaining quiet because the record is so personal and she is tired of being made into a controversial headline, but I do think she's happy with the record, although uncertain of it's reception (after the album cover comments) or whether it's the best possible work she could muster at this time. of course she is happy with it, because if she felt so unhappy with it then we wouldn't be hearing it this Friday. (I'm still a COCC virgin btw - only heard the singles/official snippets/and ofc most of y'alls spoiler tags... can't contain my excitement!)

but no, I really do think the uncertainty of this album will turn out to be something admirable. so what if it has "outtakes" from other eras, so what the tracklist is short? that shouldn't be used as a critique of the album because the album is literally about being lost, (based on titles like NAWWAL and the Mojo interview) she said she wasn't sure where she's going next sonically right? this is a transition period. it sums up the album's theme perfectly imo. the title track Chemtrails is about uncertainty among the normality, the calm before the storm, the beauty in the chaos. considering this album's rollout has been messy and it's being put-out in the middle of a pandemic and conflicted political climate, it FITS. lana is in the eye of the hurricane, but she seems to find love in it (based on Yosemite descriptions). I feel the album is about feeling content in existentialism, contemplating things as complex as God while going to the market.

some people could say this album feels rushed, and I haven't heard it so I can't argue. but wouldn't that be perfectly fitting given the chaotic theme and beauty that can come out of feeling uncertain? the curiosity that drives someone to feel wanderlust is exactly the reason lana didn't change the album. it's been said in this thread a lot and I agree: lana gave us the album she wanted to give us. if she wanted to she could've halted production, delayed the release until jack and her could add dealer and other tracks, but it just wouldn't be the same album. lana has way more control than some of her fans and critics like to believe.

maybe she wasn't as "quite there" sonically as she said so herself, but that just means in the next album she will be where she wants to be. it's the same reason Yosemite finally found it's home on Chemtrails. lana is always on the run with the wolves, but there's one thing for certain: she leads the pack. I for one am happy to hear the imperfections forged by jack and lana in this album, the Chemtrails looming over the idyllic country club.

(also: even if the theme of Chemtrails wasn't used throughout the album literally, can someone confirm if it's underlying meaning is still clear. my question is: does this album have a clear overall theme after listening and is the title a good fit? I know it's been discussed, but why or why not?)
(also also: the ben dm's are real because I saw a screen recording of them on my timeline, they even clicked on his page and his followers and scrolled and everything.)

Still Woozy is a artist/songwriter who produces all his own songs. His music is interesting, I don't really know how to describe it other than I find it addicting and unique, but NME described his style as "psychedelic bedroom-pop". He currently only has a compilation of singles but has a new album coming out who knows when soon I love his music and have been listening to him since late 2018, you guys should try him out

Heres some songs to check out:
    Goodie Bag

    Cooks (My personal favorite)

    Rocky - His newest single!

okay, not to go wacko on this thread with a wordy, pretentious rant, but...

i listened to my playlist of Lizzy laptop demos tonight and i am SO convinced that Lana's body of self-recorded demos is like... lowkey one of her best works and is kind of genius

i've totally convinced myself that if Lizzy Grant had only recorded that handful of laptop demos between 2007-2009 and then vanished, leaving those behind as her only musical legacy, she'd be regarded rn as a visionary outsider artist. like there'd fully be some gorgeous archival release of all the demos with extensive liner notes on the mysterious and brilliant Lizzy Grant complete with scavenged webcam selfies

and it would be completely justified, because holy shit... is there anything else that sounds quite like the laptop demos?? they're like simultaneously sweet and malevolent, lo-fi but complex, with all the legions of multi-tracked Lizzy voices singing in an angelic (satanic?) choir over borrowed beats, tapping nails, horror-movie synths, or sometimes, most impressively, nothing at all. the fact that she made tracks like Bentley some of the most chilling and breathtaking in her WHOLE CAREER and it's just her voice?????

like, compare Maha Maha and Bollywood Hawaii -- there's something timid and reigned-in about her vocal delivery on Maha Maha that's totally gone on Bollywood Hawaii, and i have no doubt it's because she felt safe to have fun and experiment and do whatever the fuck she wanted musically in her laptop demos. they're the sound of an artist that's totally free, taking risks, doing what excites them, and in the process creating something absolutely unique. it just doesn't get talked about enough that she was a woman in her early 20's completely independently writing, recording, AND producing these insane, layered songs where she plays characters and tells stories and builds up this whole universe of connected lyrics and references, all on her MACBOOK

so yeah i'm feeling a LOT of love for the laptop demos rn. why don't we go ahead and leak Diet Mtn Dew Baby, Star Lux, Beach Boys, Bikini Gold, and all the others so we can bask in the genius

Omg not a specific person on here changed their name....that's too much
Like someone needs to explain me how to put a user on ignore list
    Edit: Figured it out

That one fucking bitch is annoying the shit out of me lol....clearly a troll or someone  with an extremely unhealthy obsession with a certain producer

she was actually planning on releasing LDR8 which is already conceptualized and produced by zach dawes after chemtrails, but chuck told her she was having a baby and it would mean the world if her name could be lana and now lana is planning on retiring from music hence the post i'll be gone for a while and she's taking a break, a break forever in fact, and is handing the name down to her future unborn niece and returning to being lizzy grant thus the activity on her lizzy grant facebook page. eventually lana's music career will be taken over by lana grant, who will assume the stage name of lana del rey AKA lana grant, and will only collaborate with chuck and charlie for visuals, and with jack antonoff who will be aging and deaf by that time in order to preserve lizzy's memory. lizzy however will decide she doesn't appreciate lana taking over her life and will sue her, creating a deep running divide in the family between chuck and lizzy as lizzy is now suing their family. eventually however in robert's final will he'll ask that they repair their relationship and in order to do so facilitate a legal name change for lana grant. chunk at first refuses but with the gentle pleas of lizzy, charlie, and the aging, weak moans of patty, chunk agrees and legally changes lana's name to nico. lizzy is distraught over the use of the name nico, but now takes back over the name lana del rey, and 27 years after the planned release of LDR8 with zach dawes, she releases her album alongside a deluxe version that includes 50 tracks she recorded in her time as lizzy. the album is  met with extremely divisive views but the lipsters who are still left all agree it's her best album yet and is a work of genius. she returns to tour in small venues, which sell out every night and are only filled with her most respectful and kind fans. she talks to them all and creates new friendships. 75 years later, she is posthumously awarded the pulitzer prize for the genius that is all of her work, in particular LDR8.

but she literally said she was working on a musical with Stevie Nicks about witches or something? I may misremembering that last part, but a stan can dream. I'm SOO excited for whatever idea Lana has in mind, something she's "always wanted to do" and can now "finally" do. imagine a musical centered around her OWN life story, incorporating her own songs to tell the story - something akin to 'Jagged Little Pill' based on Alanis Morsette's music. a whole movie soundtrack?  Remember she said she was working on a soundtrack for a Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland) documentary? Is she perhaps re-releasing/recording 'AKA Lizzy Grant?' A movie she stars in or wrote? She does love movies.  (It's the biggest reach ever, but I've always wanted her in American Horror Story or a real horror movie.) OR IMAGINE A 'LIVE' CONCERT ALBUM or a DVD/professional recording like the one that was supposed to be released, recorded at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

I sure hope so, I loved this song and I Must be Stupid for Being so Happy.

I'd also love for songs like Thunder, Living Legend, ITTJ, Cherry Blossom, and Yes to Heaven to finally find a home. Maybe when she gets around to releasing the 25 Unreleased Song Compilation Album.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this in here but i wanted to bring up this tweet from Lana in November when we all thought the album was finished. She earlier had said in the livestream on election night that she was waiting for the vinyl place to open and start production on vinyls so we can ASSUME that COCC was finished at that point and there was nothing else to add or change. She could've made final touches but CD prints could have been made already so who knows. Here's the mention of 2 albums again. So, let's say one is the cover album and the other is the follow up to COCC, maybe?
