And this very thread magnifies the problem with stan culture — there are no boundaries and people think they are entitled to police an artist’s life! You can voice how much you will miss not being able to connect with Lana online without being a micro-manager — in fact, I think, if anything, the response she’s gotten for deactivating absolutely reinforces her decision to do so. 

This discussion escalated for no reason 
 
Just wanted to remind you of this interesting article, written months before she deactivated her sm. Maybe Lana and her managers read it too:

Now that she has proven her artistic worth, she has less need for the protective shield that enigma can provide. i promise you all, that lana doesn't give a damn about promo, or having the best sales, and obviously her label doesn't care either if they're letting her delete her social media, she is a human-being before she is a buisness, there is nothing that gets in the way of that, she has no obligation to have social media whatsoever, and she's been in the industry for many years and has built her fanbase which is loyal & strong, she'll always have people who will buy her records & stream her music, she's already sold millions of copies of other albums, so it's not like she hasn't made millions for herself & her team, why should we care? she probably doesn't at all, and as long as she keeps releasing music, even if it's quiet surprise releases, or she does interviews/photoshoots, i'll be satisfied, if you're so bothered by her taking a more unconvential path in her career, maybe find another artist to pay attention to

The fact that she included songs she did with Barrie on this record feels very special — that’s not to glamorize that relationship at all, but I remember that Lana had said in the audio recording of the 2017 Pitchfork interview that the year 2014 was partly difficult for her because she was “transitioning out of [her] first real relationship” — so it seems that their connection has had a lasting impact on her, and is evidently conducive to her telling her story.

I have committed to not listening to ANY songs from BB until release. I'm on day 3, and im running out of oxygen 

I think she's made too many commitments to other things. Maybe working with more producers and working on her book/spoken word album, the covers album, and then of course a possible follow up to BB. I think at this point with the pandemic, she's using the time to work in the studio more and isn't too concerned for the tours like she usually would be. I don't think she's wanting to retire from touring at all-- she sells out every show but i think she just doesn't have time for it. She's just simply too busy
