i do have a soft spot for rick. as a stevie nicks fan, its hard not to. also he and lana really did create magic. when lana first got famous, he made her dreamiest music. and especially back then compared to the repetitiveness of emile haynie's production, rick especially stood out. then honwymoon was a complete masterpiece. and while i think more highly of lust for life than a lot of other fans, i will admit some of his production on some songs wasn't as magical as it was before. but do i think he's completely lost his magic? no! i would love to see him return and the songs he & lana make together will always feel nostalgic to longtime fans. but do i want an album produced just by rick again? not really. honeymoon was somwthing special and thwy'll nevwr recreate that magic and trying to would just leave a bitter taste in most fans' mouths. but would i like an album produced half by rick and half by jack with maybe a few songs thwy worked on together? yes please! imo rick and jack create the most magic with lana and its probably in how she gets along with them as well as the talent they each have. i'd of course love to see more zach and drew and jon batiste and some fresh new producers, but i think a jack/rick outing would be a classic. i know some fans here love rick and hate jack or vice versa but i truly think they are the quintessential lana producwrs at this point.

If he produced Honeymoon at the age of 54 he’s definitely capable of producing something just as good or even better at the age of 63. His age doesn’t matter AT ALL. His productions are literally TIMELESS

It's a good & underrated song

Bartender's great though and somehow fits the album's vibe very well. 

For some of us Rick is our favourite producer & it would be nice to get him back for a few songs at least, just to see what they would do together now & bc we love his team & production style & skills. I agree that some people probably will be disappointed & that Rick is not the youngest anymore ( he is like 63 but it's not that old  ). But in the end if Lana wants to do piano ballads she will , if she wants to do something else she will, no matter who the producer is she is working with (as she should) & people just prefer different producers & their producing styles. And you can’t deny the fact that he is talented.

her current album has been promoted. Ads across social media, posters in multiple countries. Tulsa billboard. Multiple magazine shoots / interviews. Pop up shops. Several vinyl variations and lots of merch. Festival performances of new songs from the album. What the hell else do you want her to do?????????? 

Omg that's super exciting news
Love the photos and everything and it's always super exciting when she works with new people & it results usually in very good music (Dan =UV , Jack = NFR , Jon Batiste =Candy Necklace for example) We still have no clue what it sounds like but let's enjoy the hype & the news & her mood is everything lately ( on stage,  waffle house etc. ). Also did I see electric guitar, acoustic guitar & reverb in that one picture ? And also  Keyboard played by a professional  & Organ   Love the hints & that we still have no clue!!  Also 3 or 4 songs,  sis was inspired and somehow the making of those songs giving me Pretty When You Cry & Yosemite vibes , if you get it you get it  
 

it's so exciting waking up and seeing 10+ pages on the pre-pre release thread and new info!
ngl i'm hopeful for this album, it seems like lana has been feeling very inspired recently to create new stuff. also....all this negative discourse about the album being full of flop piano ballads is so at this point lol we had the same convos/arguments about piano/country sound/new music sounding "boring" every (pre-)pre-release, yet lana surprises us with something new/unexpected every time. she clearly knows what she's doing and i reckon we should trust her with it

lana recording music in alabama, a place which was obviously significant to her when she was younger, is honestly so special  manifesting gorgeous, elusive, nostalgic, haunting vibes akin to pin up galore, rehab, oh say can you see, and yayo

I choose to remain delusional. They hyped eachother up at the billboard women in music awards (even tho during QFTC SZA shaded Lana) so I have hope for a collab. It would decimate.

So true bestie honestly I can’t believe we’re still wasting our energy and time complaining about someone else’s artistic decisions LMAO it’s fine to have opinions and thoughts to a certain extent but it’s draining to hear the same negative shit over and over every album cycle it’s like come on wake up if you find yourself crucifying her for the same thing each era maybe that should be a hint to you 👀 
 
I think it’s also important to note that this doesn’t mean she can’t do no wrong I’m sure even with a new producer there may inevitably be songs or parts of songs we don’t like but I think there’s going to be something for everybody in her new album whether it’s an LP or an EP or a soundtrack

Love how organic and loose everything has been for the start of this era she’s doing what she wants without pressure from the pop girlies who are so eager to fit her in a certain bubble whether it’s sonically, lyrically, producer-wise or whatever if she wants to use some random small producer or musician from bumblefuck Arkansas I live for it and I’ll be here to listen if anything this will weed out the girlies who realize they no longer want to be a fan unpopular opinion maybe but I truly stan for life 

As I said in the other thread, her energy while in AL has been palpable. Love the spontaneity of this recording session. Super excited and finally feel like real pre release has begun for me. I love the more laid back jam session vibe and feel of this little visit to Shoals. Def think we got something special cooking here. Plus we already know she has been working on alt material even before. I know everybody is saying next year but ftw Lana, drop a new album by year end and blow us all away. Realistic though I'd say spring or summer of next year! I can still work with that.
 
 

This is exciting. Recordings completed spontaneously/improvised in a single sitting are usually the best. She must be really inspired.

If there’s anything I’ve learned in my 12 years of being a fan, it’s that you can’t always tell what an album is going to be like with Lana before it’s released. Especially in these early stages - people have been preemptively shitting on certain genres for the last 3 album cycles and she’s always pulled through with sonic and lyrical surprises.
