ok just listened to Cowboy Carter in full and... it's an f-ing masterpiece. Over an hour of astounding 21st century world-beating music production. It's all about the music. Mind-blowing music. A huge feat imo

Great duet with miley to boot. A duet done right (take a hint, taylor!). The song bodyguard is mega catchy and bound to be a single. The opening tracks slap. The jolene cover slaps.

there's aven an interpolation of these boots are made for walking, which works as well as any interpolation on part 1.

it sags a bit towards the end and a few tracks or interludes probably coulda been cut, but even the slog is so god-damn good. Yeehaw

to my fellow hive that just like me was a little scared with this country thing, i say there's nothing to fear, this is still the bey we know and love! and i say this as someone who loathes country, i can't stand country music, i'm too new york for this hillbilly shit (no offense). of course, you can expect some country music but it's not all of it, which i'm really glad. this album reminds me of kacey musgraves' golden hour which featured this country aspect but was also not 100% country all the way through

There are a lot of good moments!
some songs are a bit too long, some are criminally too short. But she was right, this isn’t a country album, it’s a Beyoncé album and there really is something for everyone

i very much hate country music but goddamn  also don’t wanna be a hater but honestly i dont think lana could pull the country hat and boots like bey just did. this record already massacred lasso for me sorry not sorry

It leans most heavy into country and folk but as she said, it's a BEYONCE album. There's two specific moments that discuss the idea of genre bending.

As a Mexican American with deep southern ties, this is such a beautiful project for me. Her voice is the best it's ever been and there's so much to sink your teeth into--you can tell as always she did her homework + worked with great collaborators. The GP will obviously go for the more upbeat tracks, but the most country cuts are some of the ones I see myself going back to often.

A more than worthy follow up to Act I. I hope it gives an extra push in the industry to black country singers.

Also here's a nice quick read ("The daughter who eclipses the father" is a beautiful sentiment for this three act project): https://time.com/6960671/beyonce-black-country-legacy-essay/

if she's going to stick with the rave sound (which is below her but whatever i love a good heavy bass) then she could at least do beats that sound more cyberpunk-esque

no literally like, it’s such an outdated but also basic & boring as fuck sound that literally only appeals to people who are standing under flashing neon lights, chewing their faces off high as a kite on molly……

Her thinking like 00's raver techno is the sound of the future is clinically insane. Honestly after all that Elon D she's probably got a first class ticket on the K-train express so I hope her the best in her recovery journey ✨ (😭)

Just saw a rumor about Post Malone being on the album. It’s kind of crazy that he has Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé features this year if this ends up being true.

I am excited to see what she has planned. She seems to be giving the best of both worlds with this release plan.
A few new things for people who are mixtape fans and moving forward as well. I personally dont think she needs to keep making music like Starfucker sound unless she wants to. She kind of did it in a perfect way that nothing else in that lane is left unsaid. Fans can always keep the leaks and be happy with the b-sides she releases, if she does. (Please Heartbeat Away, Cathy...)

The only thing I'm still holding out hope for is she mentioned on a live possibly reworking Dangerous. I really, really hope that gets released one day.

I would hate to think after S4 she stops making music. I hope if anything its just her contract with her label is up and/or she might 'rebrand' or something.
She is just so in tune with pop culture she does things in a way that is missing with a lot of the other girls in the music industry right now.
She seems like shes really in a depressed state and devaluing herself, her talent, and her worth lately. Snap out of it Cathy!!!!!

Happy to hear we’re getting Attention reworked, it has a lot of potential!  I guess she cleared the Tommy sample after all, it’s a win! At least it’s not the Ava Max coded Heartbreak On Stereo. She should also give Heartbeat Away, Emotional or Psycho Lover a chance, they are crazy good

Also… im hoping to hear some more Tear Me Open, Serial Killer or Talk To Me from her in the next project! She does weird alt pop so well and hopefully she isn’t discouraged from doing it since all the praise she gets it’s mostly from rap / angry songs. Don’t get me wrong, I love them but I kinda like her pop / melodic sound a little more

songs over 3:40 / 4:00 minutes are appreciated too (still not over Troubled Paradise)! Im saying all this keeping in mind she casually reads fan forums, hi Cathy!

every artist associated with taylor gets asked about her at this point, and there’s ways to handle it with class. unlike those artists, jack isn’t even know for being a singer he’s literally known for being a producer & him and taylor are good friends. i thought the question was relevant enough to his career and he could’ve been more polite 🤷‍♀️
like lana gets asked about billie and taylor when she’s being interviewed about her albums and she’s 10x more famous than jack but still acts humble.
  21. RebeccaJuno liked a post in a topic by cherrytropico in Taylor Swift
    what the hell

as much as i’ve critiqued jack’s work in the past, i’ve never seen why people critique him as a person. but damn now i see why people say he’s annoying because this is so arrogant, the fame has really got to his head.

Taylor album lead-ups are soooooo boring. If we were less than a month out from a Lana drop, we’d have some girl trying to record her cassette player, some Polish lady with the sock, a bunch of indie retailers accidentally getting albums early, and a bunch of rumors of a double album.

What ChatGPT imagines the lead single to be like 🤓 I like it!

    **Title: Lasso**
    (Verse 1)
Velvet skies and your wild eyes,
Playing fast and loose under desert highs.
    Dusty dreams, my heart screams,
Chasing mirages, or so it seems.
    Slick roads, heavy loads,
Your love's a cipher in secret codes.
Palm trees sway, in our disarray,
Lost in the echoes of LA.
    (Pre-Chorus)
    Honey, this ain't no rodeo,
    But I've got a lasso,
    Wrapping tight around your ego,
    Watch it come and go.
    (Chorus)
    Lasso, spinning round your heart,
A work of art, tearing us apart.
Can't tame a wild love with a rope so thin,
But darling, in this game, do we lose or win?
With every twirl, I pull you in,
But love's a gamble—do we sin or spin?
    (Verse 2)
    Cadillac dreams, and neon beams,
Your love's a mystery, or so it seems.
    Hollywood signs, and vintage wines,
Our hearts entwined in thorny vines.
    Sunset fades, on our masquerades,
In the twilight, our love parades.
Echoes of our past, shadows we cast,
In this love story, are we first or last?
    (Pre-Chorus)
In this city of angels, I found my devil,
With a lasso in hand, on the level,
Pulling at strings, in a dance with rebels,
In this love, we teeter and revel.
    (Chorus)
    Lasso, looping 'round your soul,
In this role, we pay the toll.
Chasing wild hearts, under starlit skies,
In your eyes, I find my demise.
With a flick and a twist, I draw you near,
In this love, we face our deepest fear.
    (Bridge)
Under the moonlight, with a whisper soft,
Our worlds aloft, in this loft, we've crossed.
With a lasso made of dreams

    this part is so good:

    Honey, this ain't no rodeo,
    But I've got a lasso,
    Wrapping tight around your ego,
    Watch it come and go.
