This truly feels like a false reality tonight. At least Lana said that a lot of things are going to be happening fast which gives me hope for the future but I can’t help but feel utterly disappointed. She deserved at least one for the masterpiece she created.

I hope she continues focusing on her passions and that this isn’t a roadblock for her. I’m looking forward to all the amazing things she will accomplish this year.

I'm really done with the Taylor and Billie hate in here. It's the academy that fucked this up, not the other artists. We'll see the positive impact of what Taylor did in the year to come.

oh pink champagne came on and it's just making me sadder. Honestly, Grammys are meaningless, Lana is the best songwriter of this generation, one of the most talented of all time in my humble opinion, her legacy will live on, she is more than a worthless grammy bcs she is art

I’m just glad the world will never know what a Boygenius is (and really if we never mention it, most ppl will never even know they won any Grammys)

Agree! As much as I wanted her to win just for the sake of it, I much prefer her NOT being internalised by the industry… they’ve committed so many sins against her, they cannot sanitise their reputation by awarding her AOTY once. She can continue to live on the outskirts, challenging the industry instead of doing her best to remain in its graces (like so many other artists do). They’ll never get her

I will say I hope she never says a word about critics or awards ever again they don’t deserve her time or energy, she has future classics to create.

Lana has always been an outsider in her industry (even while also majorly inside it, which is part of what makes her career so interesting). She will prob remain an outsider which ultimately will mean having an incredibly fruitful, exciting career where she gets to challenge all kinds of norms and write perfect melodies and document her life as she experiences idk.

Yes pls let’s not forget that up until last year, Lana Del Rey would’ve been on that stage anyways for her work on Midnights. Lana deserved to be on that stage. Fuck the Grammys.

"Lana Del Rey was hiding, but I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren't for the work that she's done. I think she's a legacy artist, a legend, and in her prime right now." - Taylor Swift

Honestly, even though I'm super gutted that Lana didn't end up taking home any awards, I'm very happy to see that Taylor very publicly gave Lana the flowers she deserved. It's undeniable the impact Lana's had on the music industry, and it was amazing that Taylor recognised that. That was a moment that could've been just for Taylor, especially since it was a milestone being the only artist to ever win AOTY 4 times, but she chose to share it with Lana and even dragged her up on stage to share the spotlight with her (even though it looked like Lana really didn't want to go up slkfjsk)

Idk, if that recent excerpt from the Grammy voter was indicative of how the industry feels about her, moments like this can only work in Lana's favour: having the winner of the night drag her up on stage and say "Hello??? Guys, she deserves an award!" It's one thing to have these crusty old nobodies ignoring Lana's work, it's another to have the person THEY vote for drag Lana up on stage and acknowledge her.
Even though Lana looked upset and didn't want to get up there, I'm glad Taylor did that.

lets be honest, lana deserved that so much

BUT also let’s be realistic, this was the best thing Taylor could do. let’s not put these two amazing female artist, that are friends, against eachother

i know everyone keeps praising taylor for bringing lana up but like, i would have been so incredibly embarrassed. having an album thats critically acclaimed across the board, one of the most beautifully written and performed songs ever made, and then being made to sit in the front row and snubbed FIVE times in the same night. then youre on stage with everyone watching you, knowing that you got snubbed, while your friend accepts the award right in front of you. im sure shes happy for taylor but come on. it hurts

I’m still surprised Taylor won. Not only bc I don’t think Midnights was not on par with folklore, Fearless, and 1989–but mainly bc I felt like they told her to make her announcement during the first award (which was sort of awkward) and would’ve been much more impactful and a “moment” if she announced it at the end of the show, and the Grammys should’ve told her as much.

Quality lost and overexposure won but it’s still nice that Taylor acknowledged Lana. Certainly she believes what she said about Lana to be true but Lana deserved to have gone up that stage on her own merit for her own record - not someone else’s subpar collection of songs.

Not the outcome I wanted but love the genuine recognition and admiration Taylor has for Lana I’m so happy she was seen in some way tonight when the fucking recording academy chooses to look the other way. Love you to the moon and back Lana Del Rey
