omg I fell asleep just before midnight and missed the closing of the pre release thread but I love you all I can't believe we made it and im gunna stream all day 

Grandfather really is sublime. And could be the song with the best sample incorporated / extrapolated. 

Fingertips broke my heart 

So glad we're finally in the post release!
 
I'm on my second listen of the album at work, and I'm glad people can't see me because I'm having emotions about the album

I’m still listening to it, first listen. (By the way, guys, I do t know how you first  listened to many song in lq  this album begs for good headphones).
 
Lets begin with the bad: 
JudasSmith interlude: 

I’ve been plenty vocal about it before, but I’ve been (miserable) in church way too often in my life to appreciate it. Beautiful melody but shut up, preacher. By the way, I don’t know how long his sermons last, but I can’t have someone yell at me for 30min+
 
Sweet and Kintsugi both feel like they could have been on Blue Banisters. 
 
Candy Necklace : a bit surprise that it’s gonna be a single. I love it though, there are a lot of « late night singer in a dive bar » vibes to it, very jazzy. Also love the interlude afterwards. These two will grow on me a lot. 
 
Kintsugi and Fingtertips are both a lot as expected, almost « melody less ». They need some adjusting to. Beautiful lyrics, especially on Fingertips. But when you transition to Paris Texas and Grandfather: wow. And things pick up after that.
 
LET THE FUCKING LIGHT IN 
 
Margaret sounds way better than I thought. Also more ballad than expected. but it’s so sweet? Like something you’d play at your parents or grandparents’s anniversary ? 
 
i don’t know if I’m reading too much into this, if it’s the early early spring messing with my brain, but this album feels like the first half is winter, then transitioning into the spring of the second half. 

Pitchfork came through with the BNM staple yassssss.

I’m only at Fingertips and this album is so beautiful. I did cave and I listened to Fingertips when it leaked and I cried at “drive by” but I’m on the verge of tears about her talking about kids currently 

I wish she said the party was December 19, because that’s the day I met my now husband.. a totally you know you know situation, in a relationship 2 weeks after, engaged in 6 months and married 10 months after that 

a holy trinity doesnt work w this album.. ill need a holy top 5 at the very least

What an incredible way to end a record. You know, pretty early on in the pre-release I predicted that the closing track would be one of the wordier ones, taking the final minutes to get out all that she wanted to say before it came to a close. Though I was somewhat wrong, I'd also like to think that I was somewhat right. 
Sometimes there really isn't more to be said, except for what already has been said.
I think motioning that sentiment by repeating the care-free, fun-loving lines of Venice Bitch that we already know and love with some new ad-libs is brilliant.
She said so much on this record - she got raw, she got personal - more than ever before, in my opinion. So, why not close the whole thing by shaking the heaviness off and transitioning into a remix of one of her most iconic songs?
I think by not saying anything more at all and rather choosing to reminisce on a lighter note, she silently reiterated some of the most important lyric lessons that she wanted to stress from the record - 
"I'm meaning to say, that there's nothing to do except know that this is how the light gets in"
"I give myself two seconds to breathe and go back to being a serene queen. I just needed two seconds to be me."
"When you’re home, you’re home (Venice, California)"
"It's not about having someone to love me anymore, this is the experience of being an American Whore"
"When you leave all you take is your memories, and I’m gonna take mine of you with me"
 
So by saying nothing new at all, she really said so much. Again, this whole record contained so much personal storytelling, and I just think this is the perfect sendoff. Sort of a, here was my story, now it's over, let's have fun.
 
I also love the Taco Truck section of the song and while I do wish it was its own song, I think it transitions so well into Venice Bitch. I think I may even prefer this rendition to the original.
Also, I'm still dying at the fact she teased a lyric from this song to me over a year ago. No, I'm never going to shut up about it x
