So to summarise this entire thread, nobody knows when/if the album is coming or what songs she’ll sing

Landslide would fit so well in her more recent discography and the dialogue she’s included in her writing lately.

The lines in Venice Bitch where she talks about getting older and watching the neighborhood kids have always reminded me of Landslide.

It’s such a full-circle concept considering so much of her music has centered around themes of youth and the feelings of invincibility that follow it

Honestly Jack has given us so much. We are not thankful enough. I mean Venice Bitch, The Greatest, Mariners? All career highlights. And getting Lana involved in cool things like this... loves him.

Both can actually go hand in hand! I think it has elements of both (and i’m seriously, seriously hoping we hear more mellotron on the new record and some weird vocal layer!!!)

We need more guitars again and weird synth noises again too ughhhhhhh my ears are fucking ready

the lyricism of NFR is shoddy, MAC had great lyrics but...delivery was off and it just kinda felt too preachy, it's like an incredibly watered down store brand west coast but 1% of perfection is still kinda perfection

VB delivered on the campy lyrics that i adore most from lana, short & succint phrases of descriptors and nouns that evoke emotion- the production takes it from lizzy to a brand new version of lana that we deserved more of, jack gave lana one of her best songs in her career
"ice cream, ice queen- i dream in jeans and leather" "paint me happy & blue, norman rockwell"

hiadt is nothing short of good poetry

how to disappear is strong lyrically, even if mostly metaphorical

but the other songs are kinda....euhm

cinnamon is, not special. in your car sounds like another production piece, and some of y'all literally thought i wrote the fucking lyrics to NFR it'll probably hit the same boxes as UV does where it teeters from good lyrics to better production, unlike honeymoon & yosemite. her best balanced work.

i truly don't understand why anyone would mention May Jailer in relation to Venice Bitch, or even remotely compare the two. Sirens was stripped down, acoustic, almost lo-fi music that owed almost exclusively to folk. Venice Bitch is a drone-y, multilayered & full of distortion song that owes to psychedelia, shoegaze, dream pop. they are NOTHING alike. to say VB is a regression to May Jailer era is honestly laughable.

I’ve seen some people on here calling Venice Bitch Jack’s imitation of some songs off of UV (mainly WC or SoC) and while I can see the comparisons I don’t think I can really agree with the allegations (I literally think VB is more similar to TNC lol). Yes, all three are essentially neo-psychedelic/dream pop songs, but they’re all really different imo, especially because VB has aspects of progressive pop and its slowcore verses. Same genre (especially one of the most popular genres in music) /= imitation. And while I can enjoy the lyrics of WC and SoC, I’ve fallen in love with VB’s much more because of they just feel more intimate and less persona-y (I absolutely think WC is ethereal and it’s one of my top songs from her but I just can’t relate to it lol). I think both WC and SoC, because they’re shorter songs, have much more explosive sound while VB’s is more mellow because of its length. Different strokes from different folks, I just don’t think VB deserves any slander <//3

speaking of progressive music, I think Lana needs to ditch ‘verse chorus verse bridge chorus’ structure. if not, i wish she would add more oomph to the final choruses (something like PWYC, TBD, VB, HEROIN, even HTD)
