for the very first time in my life i watched lana's videos for ONCE

i did that both with VB and MAC, chuck is so talented i love her but i dont think she shows her best on lana's stuff

thats why i always hope to not do anything on the upcoming stuff

yeah. i don't think the visuals are exactly bad & they fit the songs' mood, but they def felt like an unconvincing imitation of lana's old videos. (+ the repetition of the same highway clip over and over bothers me.)

I'm a bit worried that sis is trying too hard to be a guttersnipe; obviously I don't mind swearing but suddenly it's in the album title, song titles, etc. 

 

Tbh that's my biggest complaint with Cherry ... the random "fuck"s and "bitch"s seem so unnecessary and I don't feel they add anything to the song. Maybe this should be filed under unpopular opinions but whatever. So I just hope it's like ... purposeful swearing in this album, and not just because of her midlife crisis. 

 

Also I read a few pages of one of the books she recommended and it was about wilderwomen drinking from the same streams as wolves, and it made me want to kms. Obviously I'm just not enlightened enough to understand the appeal.

Chuck did great pics and projects with some magazines, brands like Gucci, other artists... I don’t get why with Lana all of chuck’s works seems underwhelming

Yeah the repetitions really bothered me. If you‘re gonna do a video like that over 5 and 9 minutes respectively at least dont repeat the scenes...

i have this weird unsubstantiated feeling that Lana is trying to go full on stoner grunge rock star with messy hair and flannels and idgaf attitude (tho muscle beach baby indicates otherwise so just kill me ).  whether or not that's something we'll see is To Be Determined, but if it ever happens... i think we all know by now that Lana's entire personality is an act based on what she thinks is cool right then - so idk if itll ever come off as actually genuine or just a full fledged adult pop star playing dress up with different personas.  then the swearing will just be for effect, but not for any actual purpose.  praying that im wrong bc i would love to be able to enjoy this album and so far.... eughhhggh

I agree. 'Cherry' was a 3/4ths-finished track, but LDR couldn't find a way to beef it up to a fully-developed song (the same way that 'White Mustang' was only half or 3/4ths of a song) so she added the 'bitch' and 'fuck' to attempt round it out, which didn't work, was on obvious attempt to flesh out the song, and made her look pathetic as an artist. There's a clean version out there, and that's the version I play when I play it at all, just as there is a 'Groupie Love' without the rap.

 

Hopefully, there won't be any such cheap shots on the new record. I would think Jack would steer her away from them, as his name is also on it, but we'll have to wait and see.

The term I use for Lana is Chaotic Intellectual,

 

She’s smart and philosophical one minuet the next she’s swearing and acting like trailer trash or a Kardashien wannabe. It’s coming out in her lyrics lately with the cringy lines and excess immature swearing.
