Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Recommended Posts

‘California’ and ‘The Greatest’ sound the most promising to me, and very promising at that.

‘TNBAR’ sounds as if it still has the Nowels production and partial new lyrics, which sound awful.

guys when was the last time Lana hung out with her baddie friends/went to hillsong? She's been so busy this summer the curse that delayed the NFR era has been lifted. Now we just have to prevent her from ever seeing them again :D

I know it's not their job to promo her but skirtsandsuits stays posting the edited-to-death saturation-UP photos of the same places and nothing about her friend's work...  :hooker:

The snippets sounds incredible! Aside from the singles, I think Cinnamon Girl and Happiness Is A Butterfly are my favourites based on this and what we've heard over the past year. It sounds like The Next Best American Record's lyrics are going to be changed quite a bit. I expected the perspective would change from "you" to "we" based on the Apple Music description, but didn't expect any other major changes. It's a shame because lyrics like "Topanga's hot tonight" and "I just want to party with you" are so uninspired and typical compared to the original. It feels like she's trolling us.

I've seen a lot of you complaining about Cinnamon Girl lacking bass but probably my favorite thing about the song is how 'thin' the beat sounds. Like, it sounds kind of like she's just tapping with her nails on a table or like castanets and I just love that sounds.

I don't know If that even makes sense I'm super super hungover right now lmao.

MY SNIPPETS REVIEW

Cinnamon is the Cherry of this era in terms of excellent production.

MAC is the Heroin of this era in terms of lyrical excellence.

Love Song is amazing. Fuck it I love You is good too.

Unpopular but I like the production on How to Disappear.

Norman Fucking Rockwell & Hope is a Dangerous Thing are the worst production on the album; bland & uninspired.

The California snippet has lyrics & melody exactly like a Taylor Swift song!

The Greatest, Venice Bitch, Doin' Time & Bartender are ok at best! Nothing special.

She butchered Best American Record's lyrics. Someone send me the original demo in the best quality so I replace it. Funny how she replaced "fame" part with with "good" & you can still hear "fame" in the background reverbed part.

Keeping all these things in mind I was more excited about the LFL snippets when they got out due to the variety in production (although 5-6 songs were pretty terrible & redundant, the rest was really exciting).

I'll give the snippets 6.5/10 stars!

Yeah I don’t get why some lyrics are so lazy and others so masterful. Party/ red dress. Fun and wild, ‘baby’. Seem very basic. I guess some songs she just prefers simplicity if it was all like a work from Shakespeare it would be too intense.

Love Song is the White Mustang of this record.

UGH i’m happy for everyone who seems to be living off all these new snippets but for me it’s just not cutting it. Maybe when i hear the songs in full i’ll change opinions, but for now i can actually wait for the release because i don’t find any of the songs that special, just don’t attack me for it.

Also i’m fuming because i’m not a fan of the direction Love Song goes in from the last part of the snippet.
