Honestly I don’t get why people hate country so much? I mean if it’s country pop like that cringey Luke Bryan then I can understand people’s dissatisfaction, but country/folk can be pretty damn good

If you want legitimate '21st century Americana,' there's a lot of great traditional American music being produced today--and it's not 'Country' music, which, for decades now has really become 'Country Pop,' and it's vapid and sugary.

Try Anderson East, Parker Millsap, early Rayland Baxter, early Dylan LeBlanc, Brandi Carlyle, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the Secret Sisters, Reed Turchi, the Cactus Blossoms, Great Peacock's first album, the Brothers Comatose, Will Stewart's 'County Seat,' the Deslondes, Paul Cauthen....there's dozens of good musicians and bands.

I'm soooo excited for the album.

I love the way she speaks in the interview, it was so interesting to read. I can't imagine why people would be complaining that she wasn't more specific about the album, I personally find it very exciting that we don't much know about it. We know the album is coming soon and we'll hear it probably this month, I'd rather get little insights into her as a person which she gave us plenty of. Her thoughts were very relevant and spot on, in my opinion.

Praying that Dealer made the final cut.

That’s so true lmaoo, when she says country, we can expect anything lol

She said honeymoon was more like born to die than ultraviolence actually... which is true

Respectfully, what is "jazzy" about Honeymoon? There's nothing legitimately "jazzy" about it, or "jazz-like." I remember she said she was inspired by a lot of late night drives around LA listening to Miles Davis, which is no doubt true, and that may have inspired her, but there's no jazz of any kind on HM.

The only “jazzy parts” of HM are the outro to the title track (“dreaming away your life”) and some parts of Terrence.
All of songs are rooted in pop / alternative with some Subtle elements that she says the album will sound like lol.

“Is this new folk? Oh, god, are we going country?”

Oh my fucking god

‘'Chemtrails’ feels like another breakdown on top of ‘Norman’, but what’s interesting is that it breaks down into different directions.''

Oh my fucking god

''I could’ve broken it down in a more delicate, precise way. I guess the way I could’ve done that is just by adding one more defining song to it. Right now it’s really, really good, but I don’t know if it’s perfect, and that really bothers me. I think I need to add that song, ‘Dealer’, where I’m just screaming my head off. People don’t know what it sounds like when I yell. And I do yell.''

Oh my fucking god

''Antonoff: Obviously I’m here for it, but it does make me wonder if we’re going to be making records is Tucson or Tulsa next year.''

Oh my fucking god

the way some of you act about release dates...is this your first Lana album? there’s at least 3 release dates before a final one is actually announced, alongside a plethora of snippets and alleged titles

Lol, yesss!

Yes, but that's completely unprofessional, unless childishly and foolishly intended as some sort of suspense-creating motivator. There should be no problem with everyone involved publicly keeping their mouths shut until a final date is absolutely secured. Then announce it.

I agree, but it's just the way Lana is, unfortunately. Ultraviolence, Lust For Life, NFR! and now Chemtrails have all had false release dates, either rumoured or from Lana herself.

I think Honeymoon was the only record in which she announced the album release date for the first time and we got the album on that date.

She kind of gives me Sharon Tate vibes in these pics.
Side note: she’s been so sexy recently, even in her casual looks like her story last night, a sex symbol reborn

i like your ultra-violent swing :grinds:

Personally I'm not panicking until I hear the term "stripped down"

Full agree. Direct, specific questions, with nothing off the table, like Rolling Stone used to do back in its classic 70s era, and which have subsequently been bound into book form. Playboy magazine was also famous in the same era for hard-hitting questions and answers, like when Linda Ronstadt shocked the world by saying, 'I don't like to be approached by fans. It's rude. If they want to hear my voice, let them buy one of my records."

Unfortunately, Interview magazine has almost always used a format composed of a softball love fest between two 'celebrities' basically flattering one another and billing and cooing. So I don't expect much more than that here.

What I am surprised about is that Interview even exists anymore as a paper publication. I live in NYC and haven't seen a copy anywhere for many years.

I have now read the entire interview, as many of us have, and it's not bad, but it's only about what state of mind she was in that influenced the record, not about the hard facts of the record, probably because they both knew the article was coming out before the record, and didn't want to spoil it. She mentions 'therapy sessions' in another context, and that's what the interview sounds like, a 'therapy session' between her and JA, discussing where their minds are and have been, and what America is like under Covid.

well if she wants the album to be a surprise, the description is gonna have to be vague.

My hype levels are through the roof right now. I need this asap! Surprise release this week? Let's go!

Jared, darling I can't tell . . . you seemed really mad at the idea of the album based on the Tulsa Jesus Freak excerpt in the last few posts you made. And I've seen the light of how good Jack can be but you first said he could do no wrong, and then he should distance himself from Lana. But now you're hyped?

I was going to take a break from this thread but I NEED this answered! :derpna2:
