personally, I would bring in a lower octave or register at some point whether in voice or in an instrument - I could particularly see a sax being in there a la Terrence Loves You. It needn’t have been present throughout the song, just tucked in there somewhere subtly or otherwise.

 

The mixing is a bit flat (not the worst), a bit “instrumental+voice”, which is tricky because obviously she recorded it on her phone, but hence why the instrumental needs to sound more full, varied and articulated. The lyrics arguably function as the intense part of the song, but… nnn I’m sorry you can’t hear them. I don’t mind this conceptually, I defend it particularly in say A&W, but it does diminish their immediate impact.

 

 I do actually love the song, it just doesn’t quite reach beyond 4/5 for me. That’s the great thing about Lana though, I can have plenty of criticisms about a specific work and still love it and appreciate it for where it sits in her discography as well as next to other artists.
