ahhh in general i miss LDR bridges   thats the main reason why im not too big of a fan of her working with jack... the lack of bridges kills me and i feel gets rid of that flare she is always able to add to a song with a bridge.

There was no way that song could have stayed the same as the demo on any final album: “She wants to die and she should fucking try”... Could anyone get away with those lyrics ?!?? I mean, I don’t mind darkness and depression in a song, I don’t mind a song about contemplating or suggesting suicide, but a song suggesting she should do it?!? Ouf!!!!

However, the final song is really detached from any real emotion and that is why I don’t love it. The lyrics aren’t bad, but we can hear that she reworked the whole thing to have Stevie in board and be a “duet with an iconic legend”.

same   rick and lana really created some amazing bridges together, some songs on nfr feel so empty (love song & cinnamon girl) when it's just two verses and the chorus repeated twice

The only songs that you can pick from NFR as basic, while still maintaining your argument, are Love Song, NFR and Happiness is a Butterfly.

 

The Greatest, Venice Bitch, Mariners, Fuck It I Love You, Bartender's meandering instrumental, hope being her most stripped down song to date, Cinnamon Girl's industrial/electronic instrumentation aren't just me "cherry picking"

The greatest is one of the songs with better production, but compared to older stuff not that special either, VB is the exception as I've said, the FILY production honestly sounds annoying to me but I listen to the early mix, maybe that's why. Bartender is just boring piano, the song could have sounded so much bigger, I like it on hope cause the lyrics are so raw. As someone who used to listen to a lot of electronic music, Cinnamon Girl has a suuuper boring & basic beat. At the beginning I thought it was kind of cute but now I just skip the end part. Even if you disagree, her older albums objectively have way more cinematic production & a lot of us miss that.

Why are you acting like she's dead? At a certain point in their career, an artist can't continue making the same type of cinematic music that jumpstarted their career, without it beginning to sound derivative. Born to Die, Paradise, UV, HM all have almost sixty songs between them. Jack mentioned that they went in a different direction from Norman on this record, so maybe you'll find something that catches your interest on Chemtrails?

I never said she sounds dead? I like NFR, but as I wrote, I'd prefer different production on COCC, cause I'm not really into that lo-fi style. I don't need her to do the exact same things as on past albums, I just said the production on NFR isn't my fave. You're putting words in my mouth, but yeah I'm happy if Jack changes it up.
