I'm always really interested in the difference between the Lanaboards reception of a song vs. the general public reception of a song. Tough is doing so well on streaming and with more casual listeners (and TikTok stans), but a lot of people on LB have already moved on because of the new leaks

i think a big reason is people on LB for example, love her songwriting. It doesn't seem like she was involved in that process much seeing how many other writers there are. There's also a good portion of stans who are not into rap or quavo, which I can understand. The general public loves catchy bops so i knew it would do well with people outside the fandom.

maybe it's a bit deceptive, because many people are hearing the song for the first time and fans have probably listened to it several times already

I think important is the replay value, i.e. how many people will still want to listen to the song in a week or two

i've been watching a couple of reaction videos from people who don't usually listen to lana's music and it is so interesting to see them liking the song or even being shocked that they like a lana song lmao

I think the problem is people on Lanabaords are more likely to like her more deep cut/slower/more personal tracks, while her more upbeat songs have always been the ones that click with the GP.

Personally I’m more a GP listener where I do appreciate her deeper songs but I’m way more likely to gravitate towards her more fun tracks

I just hope they keep pushing the song, because it has the potential to top the charts.

I’ve been bored of her slow piano ballads for a while, because she has plenty. All very good and beautiful, but I think it’s just what she needs something more fast paced.

Say Yes To Heaven
Day 1: #7 with 4,102,365 streams
Day 2: #16 with 2,990,297
Day 3: #21 with 2,531,096

Tough
Day 1: #48 with 2,140,766
Day 2: #18 with 3,438,965
Day 3: #19 with 3,356,968

SYTH had insane stability, so we'll see how Tough does in that regard.

what's sure is that Tough will enter Billboard 100.

As long as it's in the top 50, I'd be happy. We need a hit.

but hopefully, it'll do better than syth, love etc. because, well, we've got plenty of those. But not enough hits like summertime, snow, west coast, young and beautiful, and dont call me angel, which were all in the top 20

These are not hits. They peaked high then fell off the face of the earth. SYTH already outstreamed them multiple times over despite peaking at #54. I mean SYTH outstreamed a bunch of #1 hits lol. Billboard is a useless chart.

I get you. But a song can both peak and stay there a long time. Look at Sabrina Carpenter. That's what we want.

the track isn't really my kind of thing but i have to say i am really surprised i ended up enjoying quavo's parts of the song equally or maybe even more than lana's, i never liked any of his solo projects that much and i was kinda expecting to hate this song because of that. their voices sound great together, sounds like they really appreciated each others presence & contributions!! i saw someone say the MV gives p*rno vibes and now i can't get that out of my head when i watch it but i still think it's very interesting, very lana influenced, you can tell it's THEIR project and not like a quavo ft. lana kinda thing, i hope there's more on the way! :p

“Like the smoke in the drawl of your "Y'all" and the way you talk slow” gives this energy

Every time I listen to that part I’m like literally what was she trying to say there…

"The way that you talk slow" is one of the more puzzling, nonsensical lyrics that came out of her mouth.

love the rural juror btw 🤣

Anyways, I’m still consistently listening because this song makes me happy

Me too! It's in my summer playlist, and it's been a while since I had a Lana track in one of those. Doin' Time was probably the last song I played everywhere.

I just really hope it's a hit. It mustn't flop.
