I went to numerous Brat themed parties that weren’t even gays. After me repeating “bumping that” all night someone finally came up to me and asked why and if im asking for coke or something. They didn’t even know the music but understood what Brat was. It was a movement. AOTY.

In terms of collaborations, musical history and study, and vocal performance, Cowboy Carter is Bey's best work--though both Renaissance and Lemonade are culturally most influential. I do think a lot of Academy voters had remorse, but to compare the deep historical showcase of CC to Brat..let's be honest y'all. Charli did an incredible job and deserves all the wins tonight but it is not the best album of the year.

Cowboy Carter is not Beyoncé's best work ijbol. B'Day, self titled, Renaissance, Lemonade and Everything Is Love clear Cowboy Carter. People overintellectualise this album so bad. It's a good country themed album that touches on black history, but "deep historical showcase" and Ryan Beatty x Miley Cyrus demos do not go hand in hand :toofunny:

Genuinely, you guys are crazy if you thought Charli was ever a contender in AOTY. The Grammys were never going to give a cocaine-centric party album that prize. It’s a slot considered to be reserved for only “high art” (i.e. serious, intentional, mindful, representational work) amongst a lot of the voting base and Brat does not clear that bar. Doesn’t matter what the cultural impact of the art was like outside of the voters’ bubble.

Yeah, I'm gonna sound really pretentious here but Brat was heavily intentional and mindful, let's not lie to ourselves here. There's an introspective meta-narrative running concurrently with the party theme. It uses garishness and sarcasm to conceal moments of vulnerability as a woman and as an artist. Not to mention that the entire album itself is in honour of Sophie. It was also a massive cultural shift and was literally everywhere. I could go on and on lol but there are so many reviews out there that break it down. I'm bummed it didn't win AOTY but still stoked that Charli won some Grammys.

I have so many emotions I watched basically the whole ceremony from the premiere till the end and once the actual ceremony started I had to get off socials cause my tv was like 5 minutes delayed but I really liked this ceremony! :wubna: definitely better than last years it was very female centric with all the AOTY performances :oprah: Charli did fucking incredible I was gagging at my screen so bad the entire time she really fucking did it :trisha: what an incredible performance and showcasing of the album she really had her fucking moment!!!! I was rooting for her till the end but once they had all the firefighters presenting AOTY it was like yeah no... they aren't gonna give the British PARTYGIRL her flowers like that but honestly it should've been Diana Ross presenting B with that award tf? :oprah3: gaga ate DOWN im so sleepy I have to redigest abracadabra tomorrow morning

We could say the same about getting our hopes up that NFR could win compared to other Lana record’s that I would argue are actually a better demonstration of her ear for her forefathers and her songwriting voice. At the end of the night, as intentional and soul bearing as BRAT is—I don’t believe it holds a light to CC as a whole project. I will maintain what I have said every time Bey has lost AOTY—the Grammys are far from the single marker of artistic greatness and merit

A consolation prize. Renaissance was better.

Again, doesn’t matter. You guys have a horse in this race. The Grammys didn’t agree. 99.9999999% of the engagement the album received outside of Charli’s hyper-parasocial fanbase was from people taking the concept at face value and using it as an excuse to have a crazy party and act stupid while wearing green.
