But then Lana decided to move away from that direction. Then he had to jump on another project (Kendrick Lamar?), and she rejigged it with Zach and other minor producers. So, he just doesn't care as much before or doesn't think it's as "brilliant." That's why he said "let's move off that topic" the last time he was asked.

americangothic 1,716 Posted Saturday at 07:39 AM Does anyone feel like "Ocean Blvd" set the bar too high for the follow up? Like someone else said, it felt like the quintessential Lana Del Rey record. Something I personally was not sure if would be possible after Chemtrails/Banisters (not bad records, just overshadowed by NFR! opus and COVID).
Make me your Dream Life 88,380 Posted Saturday at 07:49 AM As wondrous as ocean blvd is, first, someone’s always going to complain and want more. And secondly, despite it’s magic and just the overall quality, it’s mostly pretty written from a cerebral and from the past perspective. it’s a culmination of a lot that’s she’s been thinking about and has felt, so the answer w this next one possibly is what comes next, yea naturally, but what’s also a cause for more excitement is the newness and freshness of her current world past ocean blvd’s stances. and as much chaos that always surrounds her externally, it honestly makes great accidental set dressing as the world of this one. i personally love it when people get to the point, wisdom’s hugely underrated, so I wanna know what stripped back is more. What’s underneath the storm? Who’s in the middle of it more made apparent

Its place was on Ocean Blvd We need this song like right now, it’s just too good not be heard. Seriously, why didn’t she ditch the damn Pastor interlude for Zodiac, placed between A&W and Candy Necklace? This track run would have been unmatched. And Zodiac is even a bit shorter than the pastor’s speech, I mean…

GeminiLanaFan 49,261 Posted Saturday at 11:20 AM Im gonna say this and will probably get rocks thrown at me, but hey fuck it. As much as I’d love it, we need to be realistic : I think we collectively need to forget she said the album would be southern gothic, especially if southern gothic means Ethel Cain to you. Given her track record at describing the genre of her songs, based on the Henry snippet (which is probably just a demo, but still), based on the album title and supposed cover, this album will have, at best, some arrangements that will be a bit southern gothic. again, it’s not what I wish for, but I’m telling myself it’s what we’ll get.
Thats why they call me Dita 10,090 Posted Saturday at 11:22 AM Do we think we’ll get something more prog rock this time.. i think the Jon batiste interlude was a lil taster and now she’s married to a full on dad.. and she’s very influenced by her current partners id personally loooooove it, my 2 favourite things collide 6 Quote like a dream, you glide on the water and like a star, I shine from the shore
GeminiLanaFan 49,261 Posted Saturday at 11:37 AM Since we know Zach Dawes is on board, one thing I do wish for is that Zach doesn’t produce the opening track. I love the work she’s done with him, but both the Grants and Textbook are a bit lacklustre as opening tracks NGL
Pico Ocean Boulevard 41,220 Posted Saturday at 12:05 PM Maybe a bit more controversial but I don't want a cover of Stand By Your Man to be on the album 8 Quote "Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon."

Evergreen 8,621 Posted Saturday at 12:26 PM The Grants is perfect as an opener for an album like Ocean Blvd. It captures its atmosphere and storytelling perfectly. Lana said this album is "super stripped back" so I don't expect a big opening song. Some of you already have unrealistic expectations. “The songs I have, I love, so I don't want to turn it into something that's half cooked, even if it's super stripped back. I want it to be what it was supposed to be.” If anything, I want this album to just sound beautiful and truly "light" in its atmosphere, more in the style of Let The Light In rather than Not All Who Wander Are Lost.
