Waimea Bay 11,121 Posted 3 hours ago You are all so boring....she's never gonna make another btw or artpop it's not 2015....it's 2025 stop comparing it to her old work and appreciate the record for what it is The majority of these songs are not "bad" they just weren't what you were expecting Listen again with an openmind and don't make mayhem into another artpop where you all hate it now and then claim it's her best in a few years Anyways everyone is entitled to their own opinions...I just think the overall negative reaction is....odd

Mer 64,385 Posted 3 hours ago Disease was more indicative of the sound of the project Abracadabra. 1 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹
TrashMagiq 59,935 Posted 3 hours ago I get why people are disappointed on their initial listens considering most of this album's very 70s/80s inspired and not the type of dark industrial pop people were expecting based on Disease and Abracadabra, but I just listened through for the first time and I really loved it. I think opinions will shift more positively once this album settles for people and they let go of the expectations they had that this was gonna be The Fame Monster 2.0
paltargeist 688 Posted 3 hours ago I think my mom will enjoy this album. I had high ish hopes but the only song I liked was Garden of Eden after a few listens. I’m pretty surprised by the disco influence here, feels like she’s a few years late to a trend that’s already mostly run its course. And it did feel more like trend hopping than a natural shift in her sound, but that’s just me. Hated the Taylor Swift song. But above all, the main issue for me is her throaty OTT Joanne voice all over this–it lends itself fine to ballads, jazz, country, and some rock, but on a fun pop album it just sounds out of place. I did appreciate that she played more with her vocals throughout this album than she has in the past few albums though. After Joanne, ASIB, Chromatica, Harlequin, I think I finally have to accept that she isn’t going to excite me anymore or bring anything new to the table the way she used to.

pin up galore 19,261 Posted 3 hours ago people saying they're shocked it doesn't sound like the first two tracks when gaga herself said they aren't representative of the album literally every interview she mentions how Mayhem is titled such because the album isn't a cohesive sound through and through like did you guys think she was just lying about that or wha either way its fine cause I know once its midnight and normal people listen its gonna get the unanimous praise it deserves and the 8.5+ pitchfork score and all the sheep are gonna switch like f4g5 inshallah inshallah the only song im not feeling is Dont Call Tonight but even then its leagues better than everything off Chromatica and thats a win to me so
Terrence Loves Me 73,135 Posted 2 hours ago 2 hours ago, lakeemmahottie said: i lowkey agree. i dont hate the artwork but im so heavy on it when i say it just feels like a random ass photo. i've made some of mine own covers which i dont think are any better or representative of the music but i like the alt covers too, some of them anyway. mainly the hmv/target one the one where she looks like marilyn manson should've been the main cover
Terrence Loves Me 73,135 Posted 2 hours ago Can we just appreciate the fact that these are full length songs with bridges, final choruses and nice outros, the bare minimum is special in these dark times I'm so glad we didn't get the cursed 2 minute song bs
Mer 64,385 Posted 1 hour ago How Bad Do U Want Me is my favorite so far. It kinda sounds like a Taylor song lol 2 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

It feels so rich.
Let the Light In 19,484 Posted 1 hour ago I think it’s a light cute pop album. I enjoyed songs like Shadow of a Man because they are nostalgic sounding pop songs. That being said the lyrics on this album is not that good, I especially cringed at Garden of Eden chorus. I don’t understand the album cover and name also. I don’t think they fit. And finally even though it comes after the ballad segment DWAS does not belong here. 1 Quote I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it
Mer 64,385 Posted 1 hour ago this cover makes the most sense with the album sound imo, out of all the ones we got. 2 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

TrashMagiq 59,935 Posted 1 hour ago Disease, Abracadabra and Garden of Eden are def my favs off the album. They are so uniquely her, while the rest of the album kinda sounds like her emulating other artists (Bowie, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc.). Even though I like the album, I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't wish the rest of the album was more in the vein of the first 4 songs, but I do really enjoy the rest of the album. I don't think the whole "Mayhem is a varied album with a bunch of different sounds" description is that accurate tbh, I actually wish it had MORE variation. It's mostly just the first 4 songs being different with the rest of the album having a very clear theme/sound with similar influences. It feels like you're listening to an entirely separate cohesive body of work from Vanish Into You onwards, which is my only problem with this album. The tracklist needs more balance. I hope the 2 bonus tracks will help balance out the tracklist a little bit more. From the way she described "Can't Stop The High" it seems like it will, I just hope "Kill For Love" will too and isn't another 70s/80s throwback moment.
