this is not a lyric but when i first bought my BTD cd when it came out in 2012 i didn't know about the fireworks at the beginning of National Anthem and i thought my cd was broken

Omg i HAVE the National Anthem lyrics from the CD and i still thought it said "Oh yeah baby bow down, making me so wow wow" 
Im so embarrassed now

failing to see what's wrong with an artist defending their work? it's not her fault ya'll assume the worst because of the themes in her music/the cry baby era in general 

cruel world is a great album opener but its a tad repetitive and if it was kept at 4:50 and had an epic guitar solo it would be awesome, still i love it 

#BannedT Cruel World is one of the best songs from Ultraviolence and one of her most brilliant songs ever.

This shouldn't be an unpopular opinion and anyone who disagrees is trash, but this is life.
 

cruel world changed my life i s2g, hearing it as the album opener blew me away, pretty sure i cried

its a good song and the melodies get stuck in your head forever. also the way she sings in this song always reminded me of a mermaid lmao luv it

I looooove the "i got the ice" demo but some how, the lyrics aren't cohesive since she's sometimes talking to someone that she can exchange with and sometimes to somebody's who passes away. The album version makes more sense, imo. Also I laughed one time when I saw a review criticizing the album and saying that it sounded as if it had been recorded in an underwater cathedral. That description somehow fits this song, I find.
 
As to the criticism surrounding the "i wish i was dead", I think we all know that it's something actually quite true to her, a thought she struggles with and that she expressed in that now infamous interview.
 
It's not my favorite track on the record, but I do love certain elements. The "aaaaah", the chorus melody, the drums during the "oh oh oh oh ah ah ah ah I don't wanna Wake up for this tonight", they're so umpffffff haha.

Not her best, but it's still an amazing song and it's just so Lana. Dark Paradise definitely doesn't deserve all this hate.
I also love the fact that we have so many versions that all sound quite different (album version, radio mix, "I got the ice, you got the fire" demo).

I like DP, nice big operatic chorus, so grand.

Literally screw all those who hate it, Dark Paradise is a great song. I listened to this song more than nearly any Lana song in 2012, it's beautiful.
