COTCC stands out because of Lana's vocals and her melodies with like the first 6 songs being absolutely no skips imo. Whereas with Solar Power it's really miss or hit and sadly she isn't on pair with COTCC, because the tracks blend in too much. Couldn't she tell Jack to use more variation in instrumentation? Halfway through it gets kinda boring in regards to the production. It's very shallow in general, like idk I don't believe her with whatever she's singing about. 4 years and this is what she came up with? Diasspointed tbh, but that's on me.
All in all I love Mood Ring, The Fallen Fruit (that guitar solo and bridge (yumm??)), California's chorus and maybe some other songs will grow on me COTCC clicked immediately tho

I like Rosemary as a song title. It's folky and down to earth
But is it real? That is the question gays

When “Thyme” appears on the tracklist as the yin to “Rosemary’s” yang

It’s true that Lana stans are 1) very defensive of Lana 2) praise her for doing the bare minimum aka COCC basically

But Lorde stans aren’t better either, SP is not that great of an album and her fans are praising it just bc it’s coated with pretentious cult imagery that goes nowhere and has no bearing on the music

It’s not *bad* but we know most of the praise isn’t because of the music itself but because of who it’s coming from

To each its own, I guess. I doubt this album will be more acclaimed than Melodrama. As of now, my fave from her remains Pure Heroin. Melodrama is divisive for me: some songs I love, others I don’t and it lacks the lyric genius of PH in many songs in my mind. As a whole, I’ll probably prefer SP to MD, but not because of the « acoustic superiority » (some of the ATRL reviews got me worried for the last tracks of the album), and an acoustic song can be very wrong if the lyrics aren’t it (only reason why miss Del Rey can pull so many of them off).

I can already see the pretentious gays trashing people who think melodrama’s better cause acoustic stripped down = artistically superior in their minds

It would be really perfect if she released Arcadia in the end of August so we can end summer on a positive note

I believe Lorde’s album was only available in a store that didn’t know it wasn’t out yet, and only a few fans were able to buy the album before it got removed from the shelves. And they promised they wouldn’t leak it to do no harm. On the other hand, when Lana’s albums are sold in stores before the official release date, fans don’t hesitate to leak them all over the internet. I guess fans are part of the problem, the fault isn’t entirely theirs, but Lorde’s fans are more respectful towards her music than Lana’s

the music she made with with david kahne is untouchable. AKA seems to be dubbed her worst project production wise but i cant help be in awe when listening to it, the music paints some beautiful imagery behind the rather dark subject matter and i don’t think i’ve ever heard another album similar to it.

i hope the remaining tracks they worked on appear soon, nobody will ever be able to recreate that greatness.

I actually quite like Sirens. It's not one that I frequently go back to, but when I'm in the right mood for it, it's beautiful. A Star For Nick is spectacular. That's one of the only tracks on the album I can listen to at any time and adore it. I also like a few tracks from Young Like Me, but like Sirens, I feel like I have to be in a certain mood for them

sirens is definitely one of my favorite ldr albums, i think it's a very well put-together body of work, especially since it's one of lana's firsts and it's really just a demo album/mixtape at the end of the day, yet it tells a story and it really shows us a part of lana's life & mindset, it's fluttery, folky, humble, yet still tinged with the melancholia & troubled beauty which is present in the entirety of lana's discography, sirens really reminds me of cloudy, chilly, windy days of early spring/late fall in the midwest, so it's quite nostalgic in that regard

"Little ghost tall tan like milk and honey / Little ghost so fair like lemonade tea" (or any of the variations) it's honestly so beautiful.
There are like 3 different versions (+ the live snippet) so I'm very curious to see what's the final product. It's also a 2013 song so I'm sure it was re-recorded and probably reworked too. I still expect a piano lullaby tho.
I don't understand how someone can hate on a song that has one of the prettiest Lana melodies and a gorgeous brigde.

It's a cruel, cruel world, but we don't care
