A pretty disappointing listen. You can hear what she was trying to do, but it somehow ends up feeling both directionless and contrived. Nothing felt inspired, clever or surprising, which I normally associate with Lorde albums. 
 
 
I hate to pile on but I feel so disillusioned by her artistry now. Regardless, I'm looking forward to LP4  Let's hope for a comeback girls

Pitchfork called Mood Ring Another song less exciting than hoped for 
 
Watch it get like 5-6 something in their review 

I can't hear a lot of effort or vision in SATNS, California or Solar Power. They all lack energy. Mood Ring is nice but it's not nice enough to actually shake anytging up. So far SP seems pretty unibspired imo. 

Mood Ring is cute it's deffo giving california 00s tease but it's way too short... it doesn't even have a bridge like????
 
Why is she making these short ass songs what was the reason? no bridge no outro no intro just vibes

The Path sounds absolutely god tier from the snippets.

Question for the culture: I've been reading a lot of the interviews/press she's done recently and a few different outlets have mentioned that Melodrama was a commercial disappointment. What does that mean? Sales, radio play orrrr? I always thought it was really well received and considered a commercial success

Cannot believe the absolute serve we got for this cover. Wish the photo covered the whole thing and there was no text but this is so much better than Chemtrails' cover. I just love the feel of it. She looks so beautiful 

An iconic album cover and a beautiful sounding song. I am praying for NFR level greatness with this album

Not that any artist has an obligation to remain "relatable" throughout their career but damn if the rest of Solar Power's lyrics are similar to California and The Path I'll be really disappointed. I don't want to listen to songs about models and Hollywood and jets and gala functions and fame from Lorde's perspective. There's a way it can be done well (like a lot of Lana's work) but this just ain't it for me! Plus the production is bland, in my opinion. No hate, just a little disappointed so far!
