    Hiya,

So I've been looking back more and more into Lana's discography these past few days, post holiday, and it's been on my mind that everytime I listen to a Lana song from my library, that I've been matching up songs to where it is that I'm physically in.
     Do you do the same?

I listen to Born to Die, usually out when I'm driving around the valley, sort of barren, simple kinda living, but not enough.

Paradise, during the sunsets, wherever I am.

I listen to Ultraviolence, mostly at night, driving around the beach.

I listen to Honeymoon when I'm driving around the suburbs, usually during the day. Lots of foliage to sort of make the sun glisten between the leaves of trees.

Lust for Life, Love and Coachella, I like listening to them when I'm just around the area close to home, or when I'm driving round hilltops. The album hasn't been out yet, so I haven't been able to sort of map where it is I'd go to listen to all three songs together atm.

Do ya do the same? Where do you guys listen to her albums?

*Also, first post on here, go easy on the tech specs, I'll follow the rules but won't take any sass

Kinda like how she does in Ride? That sounds amazing yeah. The whole movement and stuff

I went to the beach round midnight today and was listening to UV, Old Money came on, just driving by the coast, looking at the lights from the city side, and it was just. I felt like I needed to put some cologne on or something, which I did  .

I usually listen to all them on the side of the couch I never leave from... but sometimes if I'm psming I'll listen to them in bed while the fetal position crying and stuffing my face with Oreo's.

I recently listened to Born to Die (and Paradise) while chilling at my old school playground on a perfect sunny evening, it was a fucking experience. Especially heightened when I was on a swing.

I still believe in the May 26th date.

Time present and time past are both perhaps present in time future

I think it helps that a lot of her work has been songs about love going wrong, not working out, being hurt by those you love, often with some melodramatic flourishes. Also, especially in the BTD era, she was definitely an outsider. She didn't look like anyone else, or talk like anyone else, or dress like anyone else, or sound like anyone else (much of this still being true). To see her being so independent from everyone else, but also succeeding, was inspiring. I think a lot of the LGBT community can relate, at some point or another, to feeling like an outsider, like you don't belong or are a little too much this/not enough that for general taste. So it's always cool to see someone who clearly doesn't give a shit about trying to fit in the restrictive lines of what's "acceptable" or "normal" and is able to merge their own path.

I think she's never going to do a 2.0 and every album will stand alone. In 15 months ( ) maybe we'll be saying "I hope ldr6 is LFL 2.0. She's too creative and ever-changing

It's got a history of being a well-known film location inside, as well as its gardens outside.

On the surface the lyrics seem rather simple but the core idea that global preservation is more important than preservation of materials and self, is beautiful. This song is so polarizing. Quality is debatable this era but lyrically Honeymoon is shook

Lyrics are amazing, best from LDR5 yet imo. She literally sings that she is worried about her vintage kids, with their flower crowns, in the world that we're all living in at the very moment. She has seen the crowds of beautiful and happy people at Coachella and started to think what would happen with their future, families if the war suddenly started.

Got a million things I wanna say
We'll put some walls up, it'll be ok

These words, in my opinion mean that Lana herself, as many people on the world, has her own thoughts about certain things but is afraid to shout them out loud. The walls could be a metaphor of growing stronger in mind, not being afraid to speak up to make a difference. Maybe that's why she is posting so much stuff about protests and public marches.

“Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn’s my mother, Jesus is my bestest friend”

An interplay of the separating masculine archetype and the unifying feminine archetype draws out the potential of their common source into creative manifestation. Their background source could be considered a feminine extreme in that it contains everything in a state of undifferentiated unity. In this unity, the masculine and feminine orientations are inherent as naturally as plus and minus are inherent in a zero. The masculine differentiates reality while the feminine integrates it, the result being individual entities arising and interacting in mutual relations. In my understanding these are the fundamental principles of creation and consciousness. In Christianity Jesus is the ultimate example of this manifestation, being regarded as an incarnation of God in human body.

“Whitman is my daddy, Monaco’s my mother, diamonds are my bestest friend”

In this verse I identified archetypal ideas similar to those mentioned before. Whitman is one of Lana’s favorite poets while Monaco represents her idea of beauty. By words we define things and make them explicit/clear. Beauty, on the other hand, is implicitely/vaguely felt. Words analyze beauty while beauty integrates them in a harmonious whole, both actions enhancing the creation and its meaning. Diamonds symbolize a creation that is simultaneously clearly defined and beautiful. Such a creation is also durable because it prevents disintegration into parts by the analytical process and dissolution into vagueness by the integrating process.

“Heaven is my baby, suicide’s her father, opulence is the end”

Here I represented heaven and suicide with upward and downward tendencies, respectively. Fall leads to death, as the masculine/analytical process separates a part from its source, while ascension leads back to heaven, as the feminine/integrating process reunites the part with a larger reality. The two processes alternate in a cycle, resulting in the creation of multitudes of forms, our planet with its biosphere and human society being the richest place we know of. The Christian God descends to earth to die on the cross on Good Friday, only to be resurrected on Easter Sunday and ascend back to heaven. This story reminds us, who got stuck down here, that there is more to life when we open up and expand our perspectives.
