I think she picked oranges because in Paradise is Very Fragile she has a line about serpents on water colour paintings of orange trees - to me it symbolizes the ripeness of life and how it can be easily taken away, hence, the biblical reference with the snake. I think that fits really well with the poems tbh, as they all kind of are meditations on her life and how she’s working through family-of-origin and romantic trauma. I think it’s perfect! <3

https://www.instagram.com/p/CGx3cuEHxe1/ > dunno why it's not embedding but here's a post about the dress on this account. It's vintage but maybe you can DM the OP to get more info on it or if they'll sell anytime soon

    The title track of Honeymoon!

I feel like people don’t really talk about it that much nowadays and when it came out I remember people dismissed it as “boring” because it was “slow” and “sparse”  but I think it’s a song where her vocals shine and her extra-layered harmonies in the chorus paired with the sweeping strings and plucked guitar chords are so atmospheric! Musical heaven and masterful lyricism at its finest. I think it’s definitely one of her top 5 best songs of all time and that whole record is a career highlight!

A million times yes!! I was just thinking about this the other day! I was listening to the Eagles and Witchy Woman came on and I thought “ugh, I forgot how much Lana would kill this song!” The guitars are to die for. I feel like Lana would also do an amazing job of “One of These Nights” by the Eagles and of course “Hotel California”

this is my absolute dream --- plus it's perfect for the spooky season
also at like 2:35 ish can u imagine Lana's wailing vocals there

She held me spellbound in the night
    Dancing shadows and firelight
    Crazy laughter in another room
And she drove herself to madness with a silver spoon

Zella Day will be releasing something on October 30th! She previously was pictured in this studio with Weyes Blood recording something! Let’s hope the previously-teased Lana collab is also on the way, or a studio version of “For Free” with all three singers!

Sorry but Joni never gave up her child to stay in the music business. She didn’t even start performing or writing music til she was pregnant and it was to make extra money for food because she was— wait for it— pregnant. She had no choice but to give up her child because she had no money or husband and in those days public shaming was a thing. Originally she married Chuck Mitchell so they could adopt her child but then he changed his mind and said he didn’t want to raise another man’s baby, so they got divorced and she started her career. She even said about it “if you make a good marriage, God bless you. If you make a bad marriage, become a philosopher.” That’s what she did, not the other way around. And she said it killed her when she made her fortune because she could finally afford her daughter and it was too late, she had a family. She even said not having her child was the big hole in her life that she tried to fill with songwriting and after she finally reunited with her daughter, her muse went away. She admitted she lost all her inspiration because it was just to fill a void. Yes her art is beautiful and I wouldn’t have wanted an alternate reality without it, but it’s just plain false to claim she chose her career over her child.

Wow dude, thanks for sharing your Violet collection ? Pretty impressive to say the least. It's also amazing that there were so many different variants of the vinyl considering this was only an audio book release. The clear makes it even more amazing ? Hopefully, I'll have a clear version too one day ?

Just the publishing page/info. The content is the same! And on the cover the title is a slightly different tone of gold in the printing. The UK book is kind of rose gold.

My complete Violet collection. The US and EU LPs and CDs. Green, blue, cream, and clear vinyls. Picture disc and cassette. And the US and UK books. I think that's everything there is!

I’m in Canada and I just received mine yesterday! I was also concerned about the fact that no tracking was provided, especially since past orders from her store did provide tracking. Normally that was because Canada Post was delivering it from the UK, but this time they didn’t. I don’t know where you’re based in, but I’m thinking maybe because of COVID there are certain restrictions on some companies when it comes to handling international shipments?
