Just saw Joni Mitchell’s little photo dump of the Grammys, which included pictures of her with SZA and other singers. I wonder why she and Lana didn’t get a chance to meet up! What a missed opportunity

To be fair, Lana is quite shy/introverted and we didn’t really see her moving around much to interact with others during the ceremony. She probably just wanted to stay seated and keep to herself. Also, Joni’s performance was right after Lana lost SOTY and by the end of the night after Lana lost AOTY too, she probably just wanted to get out of there since the whole experience was probably overwhelming for her, even if she did enjoy it. + meeting your idol/inspiration can also be intimidating - when I ran into Lana at the mall, there was almost a moment where I wasn’t going to approach her because I was so nervous and didn’t want to bother her. Of course in the end I did end up speaking to her, and perhaps Lana did speak to Joni too but they just weren’t photographed. I hope they did interact though since Joni is such a big inspiration to Lana! x

YES. Lana has been flirting with country since the very beginning, it was about time that she leaned all the way into it. I love that there seems to be a strong stylistic emphasis so far (hence, a title as on the nose as Lasso) because when Lana consciously gets into a genre, she undoubtedly makes it her own.

Since about a month ago, I don't go through a day without thinking about how differently I hear 'This is What Makes Us Girls' since the story told in 'Fingertips', and how melancholy and wonderful TIWMUG is in light of that.
Also, the first version we ever heard of 'Ultraviolence', from Canada, where she sang the lines
"I could have died right there
Cause Jim was right beside me"
And how she briefly revived that line last year. I don't know why that's an obsession, but there it is.

The whole “legacy artist” thing just registered with me…and it kind of seemed like a Freudian slip. Not really a fan of that because it’s revealing, but at least it was somewhat attempted to be saved. A few days later, I honestly feel pretty mixed about the whole situation now that some things about Taylor have come to light — but it doesn’t really matter what I think lol so

It kind of gives “you will never be awarded so this is your one chance” instead of “you are my collaborator and deserve this,” :/
Also, the more I think about it, her using the remix which gave cedric gervais a grammy and not her is definitely shade. more towards the grammys than taylor considering she posted the hell out of taylor but also i don’t think she really got any solo pictures so..

The backstory…the lyrics…we love self-actualized, self-assured women telling their story.

If I ever get asked why Lana's my #1 fave, I will point them to her first post-Grammys IG post where she's stone-faced, holding a gun, with no caption to be found. 10/10 A+++.

Quality lost and overexposure won but it’s still nice that Taylor acknowledged Lana. Certainly she believes what she said about Lana to be true but Lana deserved to have gone up that stage on her own merit for her own record - not someone else’s subpar collection of songs.
