Not that anyone cares, but I finally acquired a copy of In Perfect Harmony!!!! Joni Mitchell and James Taylor recorded this live album together in 1970 and wanted to release it, by their labels wouldn’t let them, so they had them pressed themselves and gave out a limited amount. The one I got is even a first edition!!! I’m so excited! Now that I have this album, here’s my up to date Joni Mitchell vinyl collection. (The new one is the first album in the second picture)

For any Joni fans, her poetry has finally been reissued for the general public as of today! It’s called Morning Glory on the Vine. The book is full of old poems and songs and drawings. Originally she made a limited amount of copies for friends and family for Christmas 1971. For years, it’s been known as “the Christmas book” and has been very rare and sought after. If you’ve been looking for it or if this is the first you’re hearing of it, I recommend picking up a copy. Even any poetry lovers who aren’t familiar with Joni would probably love it.

Hey are any of you other Lana fans also Joni fans? If there’s already a topic for this, I couldn’t find it so I’m sorry in advance.

I love love love Joni Mitchell just as much as I love Lana. In fact, Lana always gave me a strong “modern Joni” vibes which is one of the things that drew me to her. The things I love about Lana are largely the same things I love about Joni so I’m hoping other people feel that too.

I feel like Joni Mitchell is probably one of the few musical geniuses of the 20th century. Sometimes I can’t even put it into words, sorry. Her experimentation in her art is severely underrated. Everything about her music: her voice, her words, her instrumentation, were always just so breathtakingly beautiful.

So any Joni fans out there? Or maybe I just converted a few of you?

What are you favourite Joni albums?
They’re all so different and beautiful in their own ways, so it’s hard for me to choose, but mine’s probably The Hissing of Summer Lawns. Anyone who hasn’t listened to that probably wouldn’t regret it, especially Lana fans.

Anyway, I’d love to find other Lana fans who love Joni to talk to since they’re two of my favourites.

This poetry collection is absolutely unreal. I really love what Lana said in the book’s blurb about it being nothing more what it is, which to me, is just a testament to her authenticity, humility, and artistry.

These poems feel so familiar but like such new groundbreaking territory for Lana. All of the poems are so amazing because they read like poetic journal entries and that’s what makes it feel intimate.

Never to Heaven is still such a brilliant poem to me in that it says exactly what it needs to say and the whole idea of her struggle for a relationship in regards to her ability to think deeply and ponder the philosophies of this world is so profound. I think it’s poignant because it is hard to find someone when you are the type to think abstractly like that - you’re prone to feeling emptier because philosophy is a subject that is so fulfilling but also raises so many other questions that can lead to existential anxieties. And the fact that she says she’ll never try to know what God knows (contrast from PSB) and that she believes in herself to be of the more “normal” kind to make these relationships less suffocating for herself - is just furthering the message that as humans, the relationships we have with others are what write our story; even from a pure sociological perspective. And I think it’s beautiful that virtually Lana’s whole niche is writing about her relationships with others in regards to her self reflections. She truly is a prophet of our time and I’m grateful for her wisdom!

does anyone feel almost weird reading some of lana’s poems? i’m reminiscing particularly on “thanks to the locals”. that was extremely dark. like to even know someone like lana has these thoughts. obviously, it’s very human and raw. but just reading it on paper, it feels almost intrusive. tho, i think it’s almost calming to know how human she is and how much i can relate to her. idk. just some thoughts post-read.

You couldn’t have said it any better. Honeymoon is undoubtedly a new artistic and spiritual plane for Lana on so many levels that she has yet to parallel - not in a way that pits her songs against each other, but it’s just in its own space. It exists in a universe that we cannot metabolize. I absolutely love it and that BBC Radio 1 performance is such a blessing to have. I listen to that at least once a month because it’s so haunting and the very essence of Lana <3

    The title track of Honeymoon!

I feel like people don’t really talk about it that much nowadays and when it came out I remember people dismissed it as “boring” because it was “slow” and “sparse”  but I think it’s a song where her vocals shine and her extra-layered harmonies in the chorus paired with the sweeping strings and plucked guitar chords are so atmospheric! Musical heaven and masterful lyricism at its finest. I think it’s definitely one of her top 5 best songs of all time and that whole record is a career highlight!

So many blatantly anti-Trump people follow him on social media. Does it mean they support him? Hellll no - it’s just important to be aware of what your leader is spewing, regardless of whether or not you agree with them. It’s quite obvious she does not support Trump or Pence and it’s ridiculous to insinuate otherwise.

that is huge for a poetry book tbh. small press poetry books are considered a huge hit when they sell 1,000 copies.

sometimes i think this site is full of haters instead of fans - like when she has done something wrong we can simply admit it but trying your best to make her trump supporter and assuming that makes me think some of you are really so extra and waiting for any single shit to talk about negatively
is it so hard for u to think that maybe the only way she can watch from is fox news? like most of us!??? did you all forget how many times she said/ shaded kanye for being trump supporter? what about her family too? damn some of you really really enjoying making fake shit just to send shades and hates and i can see that you’re really enjoying it. you love this DRAMA.
