I love how happy she looks. Probably because her song is getting so much overwhelming love

about the whole happiness thing... Happiness, especially when you are 30 and up, does'nt mean that somebody is not sad anymore or is always a happy clown. Hell, we all have shit happening to us, shit that we can't control most of the time.  Happiness has more to do with being in peace with you are, with the good, the bad and the ugly of your past. You try to be a better person, but you accept your flaws as well. You also get that some of your past behaviors were toxic, and you try to get away from those as much as possible, and you own your life choices. Through your mistakes, your learned who you are, and you try to embrace that, and cultivate your uniqueness.

I believe Lana is in that space of mind as well. When she said that she was entering her blue period, I thought that she was entering a new chapter of her life, one where happy times and quiet times exist: she knows what she's good at, she knows who she can be with without compromising herself, she knows who she is. And she is always a bit melancholic. Not sad, but she likes to question her life and what is around her. MAC is a good example of that. There is a certain sadness to it for sure, but also a great burst of desire and love and dedication to that man. But she won't go to the extremes she went before, as to "deny herself" or let a guy walk all over her (like her previous early songs). Maybe this is the real change in her music.

But I don't expect her to sing empty lyrics like "I am so happy, so so happy, I smile and all". Happiness is a butterffly means, to me, that happy times can fly away fast, but can come back if you let them.

(sorry for the essay: I am so damn passionate about her lol)

Another reason to love MAC is that it's not caked in reverb. I think we have Jack to thank for that...

It was so fucking nice to hear Lana's vocals crystal clear without any intrusive effects

I agree, and this is beautifully said, thank you. This remind me of when I started stanning Lana, I was amazed at the amount of things we had in common, and one of them was how we turn our pain into something cathartic. And I personally believe that happiness, in default of being a butterfly, is actually a process not a destination and I'm sure she feels that way as well

I think people and critics especially are buying TOO much into the idea that she's happier now. The Pitchfork interview was so brilliant because she confronted the idea by saying she wasn't even sure where she was in terms of happiness. And that's true of anyone's life.

We prepare ourselves for a supposed "happy" record with optimism and self censorship, when the reality is that this will likely never be the case. Her coming to terms with a lightness in life doesn't mean that the heavier elements will disappear - it just means that, along with the darkness, she will also be able to encompass her other moods with a greater "clarity of inner dialogue" as she had described wayyyy before LFL.

You can see this with LFL itself - this was meant to be the "change" "happiness" album, and it still included many dark and deep cuts, the atmosphere of the album was never as light as we anticipated

Considering its cover and music video I don’t think her label would let her do that with a lead single – no photoshoot, literally zero promo and mv using random scrapped footage – we know it’s typical Lana shit, but not with a lead single. It’s probably just her and Jack testing the waters and showing us what vibe we can expect from the new record. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Also, MAC deserves a real music video.

You're onto something here.. I don't know if you guys remember after the tropico premiere, she had this little written piece showing at the end. It said something crazy about her pretending like all the legends she looks up to are still alive and that she talks to them or whatever. I really believe her real world got taken over by her self-created dreamland. Maybe that's why she wants the tattoos removed? Not because she wants to blend in but it reminds her of how dissociated she was. Her tweet "Having a shared agreement on what the basis of reality and truth is is what holds the fabric of civilization together. " kinda plays into it as well. Our girl might have went crazier than we thought. So ready for everything to come though, MAC is so promising!

Can't stop listening to MAC. Everything about this song is so pure and beautiful - the lyrics, her voice, the instrumental. Such a lovely track.

The sentiment in MAC is so heartfelt and comforting. These may be some of my favorite lyrics she's written. Shakespeare is shook.

It's really nice seeing all this love for her new music. I dont think i've read a single bad comment on MAC yet which is really surprising (compared to the LFL era). I hope Lana is smiling while reading through the comments here. <3

And btw i think she'll drop the third single in December, and then have the album released by late January/ early to mid February.

I expect the next weeks to be a bit more quiet... We will have by then two singles... And she's been real quiet between the end of the tour and last week. If her absence made her compose songs like MAC, I really don't mind the absence lol.

And at the end of the year, another single drop, maybe? With the infos of the album (date, cover, release).
See, that's the thing with Lana: I never saw her as a sad girl. A girl that loves to feel in very intense ways, either the good or the bad. She is just honest. Her sadder songs feel like a photograph in time of what she was feeling at the moment (a sadder moment of her life). She is one of the few that express all that she is feeling. Ahd she is realistic too: happiness is fragile, and we all have our demons to face from time to time.

Poor Lana, still seen as the sad girl, but if you really listen to her lyrics it's just the men around her that are sad (MAC, ITH, SOC, BB.. ), which brings her down too. I believe she's inherently a happy person, or just a normal girl looking for happiness but finds it in the wrong places (Ride). Must be hard to break out of that persona once people have established you that way. I hope MAC does that for her, since it's a more mainstream release than the other songs.

Me driving down the freeway when I look over and randomly see Lana, Ashley, Alex, and Chuck shooting a music video:

well chuck did say 'Stolen footage' so that's why it's random and repetitive = it wasn't filmed as a music video but Lana used some of the footage for it.

THIS SONG DESERVED A BETTER VIDEO

Do y'all remember when Lana released Honeymoon and then followed it up by High By The Beach and we never understood how such two totally different songs would fit into the same album?... Well, I'm thinking now that maybe the next song Venice Bitch is actually going to be a bop... or at least more upbeat. I doubt that all the songs on the album will have the exact same tempo and sound as MAC, Lana loves spicing it up on every record. I mean, she literally goes from songs like Fucked My Way Up to the Top to Old Money right after the other so I don't doubt she'd have some slower, 'raw' songs like MAC and then some other slightly more midtempo/upbeat songs.

Also, I can totally see MAC as opening the album. Something about those closing lines, "Are you ready for it?" screams opening song... like, are you ready to dive into this new era of music with me?

If LFL is supposed to be the opposite of BTD, then I hope this album will be a contrast to UV

Similar sound to UV with a more positive spin on the lyrics. SO stoked for surfy Lana!

Possibly, they might have even completely destroyed the song. Maybe that's what Lana wanted and the reason it never got out/why she never speaks much about it. It's forever a mystery.

I definitely don't think he has it. I think it's locked up tight in Lionsgate's safe. I still dream of a day it's fully released though... I'm still befuddled as to why they never properly released it. I mean, they must know how rabid Lana's fans can be and how we become so peeved when we're teased with a song without ever receiving the full thing! It's like waving steak right in front of a dog's face and then eating it yourself. Surely they must be aware of this.

Ok but theres no way shes got a title like Venice Bitch and it be another slow song. Give us some OTTR rap sing realness. Hell, even Summer Bummer had some decent bars so I'll take that level of serve too.
