We need to figure out for sure what the number is so that we can have a new Honeymoon Hotline (or I guess it would be the Blue Banisters Hotline)

Incredible track. I would love for her to explore this direction.

can we talk so much more about the "my father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me, so i ended up awkward but sweet"???
I just love the fact that she really talks openly about her relationship with her mother. I know that she is not really close to her but i didn't imagine it was this kinda feeling and the fact that she calls her "his wife" and not "my mother" its kinda sad

My boyfriend doesn‘t like WW. But whenever I‘m driving and he tells me to turn, I do it while singing „So I, turn“ and he starts laughing

NOT TO TURN INTO A WILDFIRE

    TO LIGHT UP YOUR NIGHT

    WITH ONLY MY SMILE

    AND NOTHING THAT BURNS

This song is actually one I've always skipped but recently started getting into and it might now be one of my favs on the album? The lyrics to this are so fucking good
The way she sings "I promise you, like, a million tomorrows"
And then the "I've been runnin' on star drip IV's for so long" someone get this woman an award!

And then "With lithium came poetry" bitch that whole line is poetry

"i've been living on star drip IVs for so long" hits me really fucking hard and idk why. it just does

like it has multiple meanings, right? so she's been living with empty promises from the industry who'd promise she'd be a top rated star and yet she's being chewed out by every critic it seems like and she's just barely getting through to the critics like a slow drip IV. and then also, it could mean that she's seen the game and the attention as a drug, and it's been slow dripping too

My body is a map of LA

I stand straight like an angel, with a halo

Hangin' out the Hilton Hotel windows

    Screamin', "Hey, baby, let's go"

    My chest, the Sierra Madre

My hips, every high and byway that you

Trace with your fingertips like a Toyota

Run your hands over me like a Land Rover

These lyrics are very important in my opinion. It's actually an extremely sad song. She knows that she would never really lie down with her, as in side by side, but he will always lie to her and say he doesn't want her back. The trumpets at the song remind me of a farewell, like the end of a parade. Her best song <3 . It makes me very sad

I listened to the livestream where Lana said that she'd dug deeper into the past, said it was scary, and clearly didnt want to talk about it more. I thought she meant the past beyond her parents. Her ancestors are still her family afterall. And since QFTC brought up racism, I thought it may be something in the past to do with racism that deeply upset her. Something she might have wanted to make up for when she donated to Navajo Nation, etc. (Tho i believe shed have done that regardless)
I was asking the question in case someone knew more, and we dont, so i am very happy to drop that speculation.

Edit: just going to explain a bit more of why that came to mind to begin with, even tho now i think it's unresolved.

"Why there's a price on my head [QFTC fiasco], is nothing to do with them, its my karmic lineage [its what she got as karma from something that happened in her family's past], so im not friends with my mother [so its to do with that side of the family?]

So yeah, feel free to find whatever you want between those lines because i dont think she wanted it to be obvious to any of us.

I think Grenadine Quarantine / If This Is The End - I Want A Boyfriend is such a better name

All of Lust for Life is also super white feminist liberalism. It's not the first time she's commented on politics and current affairs in her music

It just feels forced and tacky, she’s constantly virtue signalling. She needs to stop ranting on Instagram and stop taking notice of critics…then she won’t feel the need for lyrics like this.

"Screaming Black Lives Matter by the Old Man River" is a very interesting phrase... juxtaposition of modern racial justice with the history of slavery in America...

I get weary, and sick of trying.
I'm tired of living, but scared of dying!
But Old Man River, he just keeps rolling along.

this goes two ways right? people who don't support BLM and people who DO support BLM.

it's quite jarring to hear in a song by an artist like her absolutely. Is Lana singing about her life and where it led to and the people she met along the way? Yes. Has she made some missteps in the way she's communicated things in the past? Sure.

I don't find Lana to be harmful with this lyric. It's real, it happened, she was at the protests and something happened and she sang about it. Just like literally every other song she has written.

I think it will take some getting used to, but I also believe that a long time from now it will be a song that is looked back on and is noted for its relevancy. Not many other white artists sing about current events and authentically and with the emotion the way that Lana does.
