The fact this thread has 114 pages and she's probably already forgotten she even "announced" it. I have to cry.

NFR could have been on par with BTD/UV if the production was good.

I think she’s lowkey depressed tbh

I know she’s saying she’s happy and all that, but am I the only one who’s not really buying it? the lyrics of NFR and her own behavior make it seem like she’s not as peachy as she appears.

all of NFR was like “I’m burnt out, I’m tired of doing this, I want a man, I feel like I’m crazy,” etc. I don’t think she’s hardcore depressed, but she seems...defeated? Lonely and just kind of stuck?

I think she takes comfort and in hanging with her girlfriends and chilling by the beach and all that, but I feel like she’s unhappy. Maybe restless.

That's a beautiful and insightful piece you wrote, but no ma'am, Lana is definitely lazy.

i think tnbar is more thematically correct with nfr though. she literally said nfr (the song) is about a man who thinks so highly of himself and is self centred and this and that, so he changing the lyrics literally didn't make sense. its not a bad song but i really preferred the demo.

idk why but summertime sadness, young and beautiful and mariners apartment complex are my least fav lana songs. they were either overplayed or just not that special

Maybe she was feeling really insecure or something when she made LFL, but most of the collaborating artists don't add anything to the respective songs. Stevie could sing the McDonald's menu and I'd stream the fuck out of it, but even BPBP doesn't showcase her (or Lanz's) capabilities as well as it should.

And the others? No shade to Abel, but the LFL demo leaves the album version in the dust. The demo is much more pure. I suppose it's easier to say that now that we have both versions, but she really should've just left it the fuck alone. I'm not against her putting Abel in a song, but I don't feel like that song was the one to fuck with.

The only saving grace is that thank GOD she didn't put Gerald on the album (although he probably was slated to be on it, and was replaced by one of the others ... maybe even Abel ... imagine ...)

The best songs on that album are definitely the ones she did by herself, with the exception of Coachella.

This one will def be considered unpopular, but I don't like 'Mariners Apartment Complex' all too much, I actually think it's kind of overrated. I don't like Lana's half hassed vocals/spoken tone in here, the lyrics are fine, but the song overall is meh. 'Venice Bitch' felt superior as far as promotional singles go.

this album came out at a very difficult time for me. some of the songs are hard to listen to because they made me so emotional, but the bops have stayed in heavy rotation. it's crazy that this came out a year ago.

I love Lana so much and her music is pure magic but it sucks knowing we will never get a big era like Born To Die with performances and promo, magazine shoots, and CONSISTENCY with the image of BTD... I know Lana needs to feel free to create her art but I just feel like she would benefit from someone helping her shape whatever image she's going to use fro the next era so everything can be consistent and well rolled out because she has a hard time staying focused on one thing.
