The quote about nothing happening in God's world by mistake is from a story in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It is on page 417 in a chapter called "ACCEPTANCE WAS THE ANSWER". AA did not invent that concept but this particular passage is often pointed out to people to help them deal with life on life's terms.

"And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation—some fact of my life—unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God’s world by mistake. Until I could accept my alcoholism, I could not stay sober; unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and in my attitudes."

Exactly, she's not revelling in the cats discomfort, she just doesn't even know it's uncomfortable.

I know lots more people are beginning to realise that using animals as props to make you look like an animal lover ironically doesn't work if it's putting the animal out of its comfort zone

I understand that you'd feel like that, but for me personally "nothing happens for mistake" actually is a rosy idea for me who has experienced extreme traumas, because I believe God has a plan for me and my pain is not for nothing

i love this so much, something about it made me feel a little somber, but she's just so real and open, yet so disjointed in the perfect way. she looked absolutely gorgeous, when she put the soapy loofah over her cat's face it made me a little anxious. lol.

we already sort of knew this but lana is in FULL lana drag for this era. highlighted here is the more theatrical archetype of lana as full poet-diva: criticizing discussions of her mental health and performing "crazy" at the same time. lol/i love.

hmmm I disagree, imo she's always believed in the Christian God although she's had "heretical" lyrics. I don't see never to heaven as denouncing God, I see it as a realization that she will never know what God knows, she will never have all the answers to the major questions of life, at least not while she's on this Earth, so she's not going to try to answer them

California HAS to be about Barrie. It's sure as hell not about Francesco (the lyrics just don't make sense, and considering how they ended, I highly doubt she feels that much compassion towards him). I don't think anyone else from Lana's past is in the realm of possibility, unless she managed to keep it super private. I genuinely hope she and Barrie work it out; I actually really liked them together and she always looked so happy in the Summer Wine video.

What the FUCK is going on in here, I-

Anyway, can I just say that I think there's a big difference between making fun of her clothes/accessories and her face/body. I feel that the former is okay (within reason), but never the latter (except like, facial expressions).

I don't think that making fun of her mall dress, tragic church outfits or battered iPhone is harmful. Making fun of/insulting her facial structure or weight is.

i mean, she spent most of her career stick thin (borderline unhealthily so, some of those 2011/2012 pics are a little eyebrow raising). and, she quit smoking in the last year and a half or so (weight gain is a common side effect). and she's also thirty five.

we're so used to be her being notably skinny that the second she gains a few pounds and looks less like a supermodel and more like a regular person, people think she's suddenly fat. which is wack af sorry

Ask yourself if you would still stan if she actually was overweight (and to be clear, I don't think she is). If the answer is "no", then off you should fuck.

I think it’s entirely possible that Candace is someone Lana met at AA, maybe even her sponsor. She seems to have come into Lana’s life around the same time her current group of friends did. I believe I remember reading something someone posted here about members of this current friend group also being in AA. If Patty is truly toxic, I have no doubt in my mind that this contributed to Lana’s alcoholism/possible drug use. She’s been more vocal of her hatred for Patty lately so I’m speculating maybe she has finally accepted that she is toxic and this is why she doesn’t even acknowledge her anymore and cut her out of her life. Maybe she sees Candace as her mother now bc she helped her get sober if she had relapsed within the last few years. Having a toxic mother is one of the most detrimental aspects of adult life and I don’t think society paints an accurate picture of how horrible and scary it can be. In my opinion, it should be considered a trauma and has the same sort of effects. Anyways all this makes sense to me but I’m just speculating.

i feel like Patty either did something extreme like slept with Lana's boyfriend and abused her for years or something extremely minor like took away her cell phone one time. and the reason we dont know what happened is bc Lana is petty and it could very well be something stupid

I am honestly super surprised by the love for this project. In the NFR era, almost everybody seemed to be shitting all over her poetry :/
