Enough time has passed, this shoot actually sucks.
I honestly can't name a more boring Lana shoot... it really gives absolutely nothing

I think her day-to-day style kinda took a turn for the worse after 2017--her infamous Adidas phase.
  3. nevada darling liked a post in a topic by IanadeIrey in Lana leaving a post-GRAMMY Awards celebration at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, CA - February 5th, 2023
She radiated such beauty last night. Her hair was just everything and reminded me of the Cannes 2012 look, which is an absolute classic.

Ricardo said it in her comments, but the paparazzi videos and Jody photographing her just took me back to the early days of being a fan.

Watching those videos in 2012 of her leaving the Chateau late at night is a formative memory for many of us, I’m sure - so it was nice to have a little throwback to that.

In 2011, I was an avid reader of a handful of indie music blogs. One of them published Video Games on July 1, 2011 (I actually found the entry!!!), and I was instantly hooked. The aesthetics of the video, her look, her sound, her lyrics... I felt like it was all made personally for me. The subsequent months I had so much fun following her rise to fame, and constantly discovering new things about her!

I love her so much. This takes me back to OG days when we barely knew anything about her.. if she wants that privacy & sense of safety again, she more-than deserves it. Can't believe people are crying over this lol... I mean first of all, there's no doubt in my mind she'll return to social media in some form within the next year. Secondly, she's a person like the rest of us - we'll be fine without her random selfies and updates??? She made it clear that she's not quitting her career. There is still poetry and music to come. Just no social media presence for now, which is fine... it's about the art anyway - which I think is her point / some of the reasoning behind her decision. I don't blame her at all & honestly I'm surprised she didn't do this sooner.

why are ppl worried ab her retiring when she explicitly said she's not retiring in that video for like a minute straight

this looks like it's from her trip to build houses on the Navajo nation, I don't think there's anything insidious about it except a bunch of kids traveling across the country for a service trip

Speaking of Ultraviolence, this isn't so much an unpopular opinion, as a perspective I've never seen shared before. The cover of The Other Woman is incredible for a few reasons, but one that stands out to me is that she flips the meaning of the song without changing any words, simply by how she sings it. In the original, the first part - where the life of the 'Other Woman' is made to seem glamorous in comparison with the wife, for the reason that she has the freedom that the latter does not, while having the gifts and excitement - are sung sadly, while the last part - where the Other Woman is seen as being an outcast and alone, are sung with a 'fuck you', triumphant sort of attitude. Lana swaps these around, as you would expect, as they're sung from the perspective of the OW, and not from the wife, and it starts triumphant and ends in tragedy. To me, it really shows her ability as an actor and performer of lyrics, which is often ignored.
For more evidence of that, watch any early live version of 'Blue Jeans', where she sings the line 'love you more, than those bitches before', not as though she's performing a song, but as though the feeling has just occurred to her.

this is how I feel about NFR lmao

BTD remains in her top 3 best albums, unbothered with clear skin & millions in the bank. it may be “overproduced” at times but continues to have her best lyrics and vision. there is a reason it stayed in the billboard top 200 for over 300 weeks...

i feel like it feels forced cause it’s not a theme she ever spoke about in her music and after the whole ‘i’m not racist i dated rappers’ and qftc it just feels as i said forced. as in "look i mention blm see i’m not racist". i do agree with you that lana’s a very (sometimes TOO) honest person and we love that about her and ofc i know she has a good intention behind the lyric. the timing just seemed off. and i don’t mean white woman as in it’s bad to be a white woman (??) but in the sense that it does come across as very white savior-ish. i may ofc be a bit biased, lana’s music was always this otherworldly realm to escape to. it’s her art and she can and should sing about whatever she wants but i hate being reminded of real world problems in places i couldn’t care less to have them mentioned.  i’ll watch a news channel if i want that
same thing with covid (looking at you grenadine quarantine stans) i’d hate hate hate if she mentioned the pandemic in her music, same way i hate and don’t watch any series/film where people wear masks and talk about covid. just this one hour of escaping this cruel world please

i kinda feel a bit like this tbh. i loved nfr but it never hit me like others did before. i loved cocc but it feels like a 9 track ep with something missing. i loved the 3 singles and i still listen to them a lot but they aren’t necessarily new or groundbreaking sound wise. i feel like i’ll give her a last chance with this album (and probably the one after cause i’m a weak bitch) but if this ends up as another "let’s strip it back to pretend it’s deeper than it is" album that’ll feel like it’s missing that certain…magic, fullness, replay value, excitement whatever you wanna call it then….truly idk…but i honestly don’t see myself stanning same sounding piano ballads for forever let’s just say that (or maybe i’ll do but i’ll be pretty pissed about it and complain a lot).

what a lot of people here still don’t get is yeah sure the lyrics are great, they always have been. but after all the poetry, nfr, the "deep lyrics" a lot of us just want PRODUCTION again. no matter what kind but something with OOMPH and BASS. especially when the lyrics discussion is a bit…eh. does she write better today than ten years ago? absolutely. would i take another video games (lyrically and production wise) over her reciting her grocery lists and mentioning nikki or courtney for the 10th time ? absolutely fucking yes.

Chemtrails is one of her worst music videos. People only think it’s the best because it has good SFX and shit.

The story telling is terrible. It’s just all happy and then bam it’s dark. There’s no transition or anything. It’s just random and you’re left to infer what happened as opposed to seeing what has happened in a seamless transition throughout

Instead of turning dark out of nowhere, I wish there where some scenes that hinted to that earlier in the mv. Like it looks innocent to begin with but you can tell something isn’t quite right or maybe have scenes of her and her friends being happy but with random flickering dark imagery every now and again like in the 911 mv

i genuinely don't understand how people are listening to the new singles and don't think she's doing anything new? if anything, the new singles have ambience which isn't something we had with nfr & cotcc, text book has various tempo changes, the percussion at the end of wildflower wildfire might not be everybody's favorite but it's something different...

I am really sick of her namedropping people in her songs, especially after today
It's okay to do in moderation but enough is enough
I get that it's hEr LiFe but Jesus, Chuck and Jen and Nikki and Charlie and Joni and Joan and whoever else do not need to be mentioned in every song ever
Less is more. She does it so much that it is not lyrically impactful at all because it's just a mish-mash of names
There's a reason the CD booklet usually has a page for acknowledgements and she should use it
